Please Read: An urgent Appeal to those NOT supporting Rand Paul
Crossposted at RonPaulForums (http://tinyurl.com/ykrq7us)
Dear Daily Paulers,
Given recent events I believe it's time to make the case to those wavering in their support of Rand Paul. The need is so urgent and the moment so important that I believe his current detractors will see that we must do what we can to give him the shot he needs to win the Senate.
Even if the following doesn't yet convince you please pass it along so any detractors can make the decision for themselves...ideally before the hugely important March 23rd moneybomb. (http://www.winrandwin.com/)
1) First we must realize that as much as we respect Ron Paul...most of us weren't around for his actual house campaign in 1996 (or his earl. It's very likely what he said on the campaign trail then could have discouraged some of Rand's current detractors from supporting Ron Paul in 1996. Whatever he said we all know how he voted: Always on the side of liberty.
If Ron Paul didn't go through the necessity of campaigning and winning would we have the R3VO7UTION today? Would you and thousands of others be exposed to the ideals of liberty, prosperity and peace if it weren't for his historic 2008 campaign?
2) I believe this is most important: Even if some don't recognize the importance of a Rand Paul win in Kentucky...THE NEOCONS AND OTHER ESTABLISHMENT HACKS DO!!!
They have declared war on the liberty movement even if some don't aren't willing to acknowledge it:
A) On neocon David Horowitz's "NewsReal Blog " they have formally declared a call to arms to reverse the successes of the liberty movement over the past year and recently the CPAC victory of Ron Paul (http://tinyurl.com/yglev3l) Their first justification? The rise of Rand Paul in Kentucky:
Exhibit A: Conservative icon Sarah Palin endorses Rand Paul for one of Kentucky’s Senate seats. The son of notorious non-interventionist Congressman Ron Paul is on record as describing his foreign policy views as “very, very similar” to his father’s.
Exhibit B: Ron Paul wins the Straw poll at CPAC. (More a symbolic victory than a substantive one given that he netted the votes of less than 10% of CPAC attendees but never the less the victory becomes a tool for his cult of unhinged, online evangelists.)
Exhibit C: CPAC fails to feature a single official panel addressing the threat of Islamofascism. The tenacious Pamela Geller is forced to hold her own panel independently.
Exhibit D: The most important conservative talk show host, Glenn Beck, calls anti-Jihad politician Geert Wilders a “fascist” on his Fox News show. In the next hour, Special Report with Bret Baier labels the Dutch freedom-advocate “far Right,” and not a single pro-Wilders voice can be found in a panel of conservative commentators.
What can be drawn from this? The Conservative Movement is in danger of abdicating its primary responsibility as the defender of America. It’s drifting toward a foreign policy that is indistinguishable from the Left — and thus a death sentence for our nation.
Read the whole neocon call to arms: http://tinyurl.com/yglev3l
B) The most influential neoconservative influence on the right is the Weekly Standard and it's Editor-in-Chief Bill Kristol. They are now getting involved in the Kentucky race and are now on the attack. Here they are putting the Race on their "Watch List" (http://tinyurl.com/yhyrbg2) and regurgitating Rand Paul's primary opponents talking points for their reading audience. They are literally promoting his opponents smear site and campaign ads for their readers. Read the Weekly Standard piece and the smear site... if you can stomach it.
Perhaps even more telling: When Palin endorsed Rand Paul Kristol wouldn't let her get away with that even minor betrayal. He had Chris Wallace confront her about the endorsement of Rand and Wallace repeated Kristol's talking points. Wallace even credited Kristol with the criticism. This shows that the neoconservative wing at Fox is gearing up for the attack. See this video @2:50

C) When Rand Paul reached the 2 million mark many if not all thought this was well ahead of his primary opponent. I was shocked to learned that his opponent reached that mark in February:
The campaign for Secretary of State Trey Grayson said it crossed the $2 million mark last month. Grayson's campaign manager, Nate Hodson, said Paul's "attempt to break into the family business has benefited from his father's decades of being a wily political operative.
"Trey is proud to have kept pace with such a seasoned political dynasty and knows that it will take more than donations from his father's political network to convince Kentuckians that Rand is the right choice for Kentucky." http://tinyurl.com/yl8fbvk
This means Rand's GOP primary opponent has literally raised more in 6 weeks than he did in the 3 months of last quarter. The thing to look at for us is not just that he's raised that much but how did he pull off this very timely miracle turnaround? No-one knows until the FEC report comes out and even then it will be difficult to tell.
My belief is that the special interest lobbies-- mostly the military-industrial/foreign entanglement lobbies-- are freaking out at the prospect of a Rand Paul win and throwing everything they can at Rand Paul now when it counts the most.
In conclusion--as the neocons like to put it-- "They are a war with us whether or not we are at war with them"
While a Rand Paul loss isn't a death blow to our movement it is a big blow to the establishment which is why they are trying so hard to smear Rand Paul on an almost weekly (if not daily) basis.
He represents a focal point of resistance to the welfare/warfare state that we will be able to point to like we do to Ron Paul. I haven't been around as long as some of you have but look at what we were able to accomplish with one truth teller in a house seat. Just imagine what could be done with a Senator fighting for liberty.
I again implore you to pass this information long and wide. I hope that we can rekindle the R3VO7UTION up to its '08 form in its energy to match its amazing accomplishments in '09 and this year.
I will again ask: "If Ron Paul didn't go through the necessity of campaigning and winning would we have the R3VO7UTION today? Would you and thousands of others be exposed to the ideals of liberty, prosperity and peace if it weren't for his historic 2008 campaign?"
I hope we'll do what we can to make sure the next generation has such a needed voice.
UPDATE: Dick Cheney and prominent neocons are directing portions of the campaign. I can't believe some of you are bailing out on Rand while he's being attacked by these people. I hate being right: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/34582.html#replyform
Recognizing the threat, a well-connected former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney convened a conference call last week between Grayson and a group of leading national security conservatives to sound the alarm about Paul.
“On foreign policy, [Global War On Terror], Gitmo, Afghanistan, Rand Paul is NOT one of us,” wrote Cesar Conda in an e-mail to figures such as Liz Cheney, William Kristol, Robert Kagan, Dan Senor and Marc Thiessen.
With an attached memo on Paul’s noninterventionist positions, Conda concluded: “It is our hope that you can help us get the word out about Rand Paul’s troubling and dangerous views on foreign policy.”
In an interview, Conda noted that Paul once advocated for closing down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay and sending some suspected terrorists to the front lines in Afghanistan.
“This guy could become our Republican senator from Kentucky?” he exclaimed. “It’s very alarming.”

Agreed. 100%

This will typically return it to the top of the list of active threads. It has been suggested that "b um p" is an acronym of "bring up my post",[1] however this is almost certainly a backronym and the usage is entirely consistent with the verb "b u mp" which means "To knock to a new position".[2] It can also be used in personal messages (PMs) or instant messages (IMs) on the Web, to return an older message to the top of the list.
