For some of you this may be old news but our lovely friends at FEMA have decided to build hundreds of concentration camps all across the united states. They are all empty waiting to accept prisoners... They may very well be built for you and me. » |

Look how many commenters laughed it off as tinfoil hat conspiracy, just like they laughed off the information contained in the post about the March 13, 2008, secret Congressional meeting.

No offense but this is the kind of stuff that turns people off and away from the campaign and what we're doing here. A subject such as this is best left for another website that deals with such topics, but not a website helping to promote a legitimate presidential campaign. While many may argue that rex-84 and fema camps are very legitimate, they have very little to do with a presidential campaign. Now, if Ron Paul were to publicly start talking about such a thing as this then that would be wholly different altogether, but since he doesn't, and in fact strays away from all conspiracy theory in general, then let's just stick to Ron Paul related stuff, okay?

I have heard some of these places go down so far into the earth that they are heated by the earths core. Sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie.
If you can get ahold of the fema manuals, operation garden plot is talked about in them.

Hate to be the devil's
Hate to be the devil's advocate here, but there is no conspiracy theory. Even refering to these as concentration camps is jsut plain offensive, the people who have survived the gulags of the Soviet Union probably wouldn't agree with your labeling.
This areas are established as a contingency for outbreaks of things such as Bird Flu, or relief centers in case of natural disasters.

I hope you're right too. Unfortunately with the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, John Warner Defense Act, the new HR 1955 and a slew of other legislation with a tyrannical tone I think its prudent to consider that these camps may be used for something other than quarantine in an outbreak.
As for topics like this potentially offending gulag survivors, I suggest you read "Gulag Archipelago" before coming to a conclusion. The lack of a proactive resistance, like we are putting up, is exactly what Solzhenitsyn was lamenting in the opening hundred pages of his work.

A serious topic, a poor link
This is a very serious topic, unfortunately the link chosen was a poor one since it has some incorrect information and the site contains some topics which aren't considered respectable by some members of DP.
Once upon a time Alternet did a great report on these camps but I just went looking for it and it seems to have fallen into the memory hole. I was able to find a few solid links for people who want to look into this further. If anyone has a copy of the old Alternet story saved somewhere I'd love to have it because that was the best I ever found on the topic.

Fort Devens in Mass was going to be an airport

In the middle of nowhere. Feds busted 120 illegals at a factory in mass? Bussed them up to Devens for "holding."

FEMA camps
I've read of these camps before, and the issue has be seriously concerned. However, I am extremely skeptical of the claim of the largest one, able to hold 2 million people, beng just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. Two million is roughly three times the entire population of Alaska, and even a cursory search of Google Earth will show no such facility is in place in the Fairbanks area (unless it is all or mostly underground). Perhaps that figure was misstated, but it does not add credence to the website.

yup yup.. that's what it is. Despite the fact that Oliver North was told he could not comment on this program because it dealt with a something of great importance of national security at the highest level...

Don't forget about the deal that the govt made with Halliburton to build $385 million worth of detention facilities on US soil this year.
I believe they are for the "bad dissenters" in the event of martial law, or as I say, the beginning of the final takeover.
