Many Rand Paul supporters realize that he is playing a political game to get elected as U.S. Senator from Kentucky. This raises some important questions about our society and the way we choose leaders.

This ad must mean that they are desperate!
Youtube post:
The poorest excuse for a political ad yet!
Rand Paul has a very simple message:
"FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION!"
That is so very simple that every person from Joe Six-Pack to Einstein will understand.
Rand Paul, Hope for Kentucky and America!
If you go check out...
the website the video advertises you will see they actually have nothing against Rand Paul at all. The criticism in the video is actually aimed at the fact that it is necessary to be deceptive for good politicians to get elected.
I think the creator of the video was trying be evocatively provocative but ended up mostly failing because 99% of people instantly think it is criticizing Rand Paul.
Also, the website that made the video, http://libertydiscussions.com only has three members. So it's a newbie website. :p

he can't find more important issues of
modern politics except a soap opera script against rand paul? on his website amongst a host of cliche philosophical issues that are elementary level to most liberty followers like the argument of republic vs. democracy, when he does decide to talk about modern politics, he talks about rand paul.
how about trying the 2k page 1 trillion dollar health care bill that the public is given 72hrs to read for a change. he also fails to mention any bad practical aspect of the politics he is criticizing, besides making a juvenile hint at "i don't like it".
even i can think of some practical points in a debate if i were to play devil's advocate on his side, right off the top of my head, but no, the whole video consisted little more than whining. it's like "too bad modern politics have to be this way, because now i can't find a person i like".
Quote....
from "LibertyDiscussions" in the Youtube info panel about the video:
"This video is not intended to be anti-Rand. Rand Paul is one of the best leaders out there today. We expect most politicians to try to manipulate voters. But when even constitutionalists have to play games to get elected, what does that say about our society?"
I'm convinced the guy has good intentions but he made a bad choice with the video and how he framed his point.
I don't see it as an intentional "attack" on Rand Paul. But it certainly does come off as "attack ad" in style and evidently most people are perceiving it as an attack ad.

your point taken
but he should also be somewhat aware of a lot of deliberate saboteurs and naysayers inside the liberty movement when he put up this video. the grandstanding inside the liberty movement is particularly vicious because it usually comes from those with decent understanding of the basic principles that have chosen to give up all practical aspect in how to bring about expedient changes.
it's similar to a person criticizing another for not being completely altruistic, while we all know it's not possible. in the interest of time and self-preservation, most would like to see at least something done to delay or offset the next crisis as much as possible, even at the sacrifice of having some unintended consequences and bad after-taste, and that involves playing politics.
the health care bill being voted on within 48 hours was one other thing he could use to make a grandstanding about modern politics. i didn't say he was a saboteur although that was my suspicion, but he did have choices to focus on things much more important, and that's a fact.
and what's with all these guys all of a sudden now trying to jump in front of the parade offering spiritual guidance and trying to remind us "not to deviate" anyway. does everybody want to be a spiritual leader like ron paul now? we already have one and i know it feels good for some to do this because some just either have to be in front of the parade or just never be in it, but i for one hate anyone standing in front of me, and i'm sure many others feel the same.
i wouldn't be surprised...
if this video was produced with AIG bailout money. just when its lobbyists are holding Grayson fundraisers.
That is a pretty lame way
for a guy to try to launch his website.
I doubt he'll win many supporters with that approach.
Yah...
the guy is trying to make a valid point. But he fails totally in delivery. Utterly fails as it comes off as an attack ad against Rand.

these people are not ready to be unplugged
"The Matrix is a system, Neo, and that system is our enemy. When you are inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters, the very minds we are trying to save. Until we do, these people are part of that system and that makes them our enemies. You have to understand that most of these people are not ready to be unplugged and many are so hopelessly dependent on the system, they will fight to protect it."

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul
Back in 2007 some friends and I started
Ron Paul Meetup #90 and organized our city to campaign for RP. During this period we got 0 assistance from our local Libertarian Party.
As our RP meetup grew and we put on events that rocked the city. Three hundred people marching through downtown (without a permit of course) singing and chanting cadence. Had veterans in our group. After we built this group the Libertarian candidates wanted us to support them with our time and money. To this day there has been 0 help from the local Libertarian Party.
While I hold many libertarian beliefs, I am a Ron Paul Republican.
... a strange ad
. Who benefits?
This is why the Libertarian Party Went No Where
It became a debate society. He is only 98 pct correct so burn him at the stake.
There are a plethora reasons why the Libertarian Party
went nowhere. Namely, the "Libertarian Party."
IMO...
alot if it had to do with the Dallas Accord....

exactly.. actually your comment enlightened me somewhat
on something i've never thought of. i've been trying to figure out where these saboteurs come from from time to time within the liberty movement. sometimes you see attack out of nowhere on the smallest issues or political maneuvers ron paul does.
reasontv's website had a hit piece on ron paul just not too long ago, and you can also see attacks on c4l and dp from time to time on some non-issues. initially i thought it could be some truthers that held grudge over ron paul for his unwillingness to indulge too deep into all the 911 circumstantial evidences, but it didn't feel quite right.
so ya, the reality might very well be what you just hinted at--these guys were the old hardcore libertarians who had been content with being a bitter minority whose activities revolve around armchair critique and not much else.
another example: remember this john bush guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc8XRhcn1hY
i think all of these guys are from the same root.. the old hardcore libertarians that made ron paul realize a libertarian run is hopeless. the minute anyone gets popular in there he will likely get attacked since their interest to accomplish meaningful changes is practically non-existent.
