"Dems sweeten health bill, set showdown SUNDAY"

WASHINGTON – Historic health care change in the balance, Democrats plowed fresh billions into insurance subsidies for consumers on Thursday and added a $250 rebate for seniors facing high prescription drugs, last-minute sweeteners to sweeping $940 billion legislation headed for a climactic weekend vote.

President Barack Obama scuttled an Asian trip in favor of last-minute lobbying at the White House on his signature issue, playing host to a procession of wavering Democrats seeking favors.

"It will make history and we will make progress by passing this legislation," predicted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as Democrats unveiled final alterations to a bill — 16 tumultuous months in the making — meant to expand health care to 32 million uninsured, bar the insurance industry from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions, and trim federal deficits by an estimated $138 billion over the next decade.

The health care portions of the bill would affect early every American and remake one-sixth of the national economy.

LOL

Where are the posters with the tagline:
"Paul/Kucinich" now ?

What happened to transparency..

and posting the actual bill on line for at least 72 hours before a vote? Hmmmm...sounds fishy to me. Sounds like someone just wants to push their freaking agenda, and be a dictator of the U.S. The sad thing is I do not even think Obama is a U.S. citizen, nor is he a Constitutional minded person.

I hope they post it online soon

... and not the day of the vote either.

How Does It Cost $940 Billion—and Cut Deficit?

The latest version of the Democrats' health overhaul costs $940 billion over a decade, yet it would bring down the federal budget deficit by $138 billion, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

How can the bill spend so much and still reduce the deficit? The answer lies mainly in new taxes and curbs on Medicare spending.

The CBO numbers reflect the combined cost of two pieces of legislation. First is the version of the health overhaul passed through the Senate on Christmas Eve. Second is a package of changes released Thursday.

37 states to sue Federal govt if national healtcare becomes law

BOISE, Idaho – Idaho is leading the charge in a states-rights push to defeat a proposal in Congress that would require people to buy health insurance, a key piece of reforms being pushed by President Barack Obama.

Republican Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter used a ceremony Wednesday afternoon to become the first governor to sign into law a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government over any such insurance mandates.

There's similar legislation pending in 37 other states, a point Otter stressed when asked if the bill he signed can succeed, given constitutional law experts are already saying federal laws would supersede those of states in a U.S. District Court fight

Glad to hear it...

Too bad individual citizens can't sue as well...
