Ron Paul at 11%

0 votes

Our first national look at who Republicans would prefer as their 2012 Presidential nominee confirms the wide open nature of the field. The leading candidates are all within the margin of error of each other, with Mitt Romney leading at 28% followed by Mike Huckabee at 24% and Sarah Palin at 23%. Ron Paul pulls 11%, 9% say they're undecided, and 6% say their preference would be someone else.

it is not about the guy. it

it is not about the guy. it is about the message. unless a serious revolution happens, our next president is either going to be obama or romney. it's whether or not those two guys are going to have enough pressure to do something significant. focus on the message, not the guy.

There are positives and negatives to this

On the one hand, this is where Paul was at about the height of his popularity on Super Tuesday. (within the GOP)

So he hasn't lost anything. Also, it puts him ahead of where he started out last time, so assuming a similar or more vibrant effort on our part, he could do much better this time around.

However, this also means that while he hasn't slipped any since then, despite his recent popularity and his calling the financial crises on target, he hasn't GAINED any points within the GOP.

That doesn't bode well.

This means too many people are still asleep or are still colossally stupid.

OR

It means the smart people have left the GOP and the dummies remain to "try to fight within the system."

Do you really believe these

Do you really believe these numbers? I don't know why they seem manufactured to reflect the agenda of the GOP no matter what?????

Double digits!

4th place is really not bad.

Remember Dr. Paul was basically 9th place last time around. 11% now can translate into much more during a real run.

Also media and pollers are treating him with much more respect.

Read the PDF. They actually had Ron Paul as a stated choice.

Things are looking up.

with these numbers I feel we

with these numbers I feel we have reached NOONE...Sarah Palin?-come on can you even imagine? Oh, I don't want to ...My parents LOVE her...she's a propaganda idiot! and they are still considering Romney? Oh, I am so disappointed that they(the establishment) would put any energy or TRUST into these people... oh and yeah like we really need a talk show host like Huck running the show...yep folks at this point it only looks like one of those BAD reality shows..not even a funny sitcom-damn!

This is major progress

RP was always in the 1 to 5 percent range before in national polling, yet he finished with double digits in some state primaries. To start at this level in national polling is huge. He's got momentum on his side, and he's not that far from the very top. He's clearly almost at the level where his numbers demand that he be treated as a real contender. When that happens, his additional exposure will cause his numbers to continue to grow, because he's got the best message, bar none.

It takes a long time to convert the entire Republican universe, but we're getting there. We need to keep up the fantastic work. The conservatives are starting to see it our way, slowly but surely. Cheer up!

Palin and Romney Remind me of Actors.

Like they're just acting in a film to try to win an Oscar. Totally superficial stars of little real value, in fact, dangerous.

Because they are actors

.

If the republicans choose the neo-con Romney...

I'll just vote for Baldwin again and do everything I can to split the party.

Apparently they are not learning their lesson.

caucus states

In caucus states, "do everything I can" will include taking friends and neighbors to caucus so they can vote you to the next round.

*Hopes*

Hope Paul can pull a Moses and lead us all to freedom!

Remember!

All he needs is to have the highest percentage amongst the republican nominees to win the Republican nomination and then 51% to win the general election.

Personally, I believe that once people see him in the debates, it'll be hard to ignore him and dismiss him as a fringe candidate.

Not to mention how our country will be in much worst shape in 2012, and we all know that Ron Paul has the right message behind him.

2012 will be a very exciting year indeed.

Which is why we need to focus

Which is why we need to focus completely on getting him nominated and let Ron take over the viewers in the debates. That's if he runs, which doesn't look likely to say the least.

But in my honest opinion, I think he will run. I think he's holding back to keep his supporters on the fence of how much support they are going to give. He knows if he announced his run now, there will be time for the movement to die down and become bashed by the media before elections. So for that reason, I feel he is going to hold off on his announcement.

Why would the media be constantly asking him if he is running? So they can jump on the ron paul bashing bandwagon and destroy any chance he has at being nominated. One thing is for sure, when he does announce, every needs to give 1,000% because this is a solid chance for us.

"One man with courage is a majority." ~ Andrew Jackson

I don't think he will, I

I don't think he will, I think Gary Johnson will likely run, and Ron Paul will probably endorse him and help him in his campaign...

Palin 23% ?

I'm cracking open a bottle of Bacardi tonight. This signals to me that a huge portion of "conservatives" are complete idiots. I have met crack head prostitutes with more intelligence and ethics. This woman quit in the middle of her term to cash in. She's nothing more than an simpleton cashing in on her 15 minutes.

This feels like a huge deal to me

1 in 10 republicans....1 in 10.

That is way better than we got in most states last time after the primaries. Think about the opportunity to advance the movement if he runs with that much support out of the box before people hear the logic. I truly believe that everyone will be more receptive to him.

It still is a stretch to say he can win, but it is conceivable that could win some states. If he does that it will greatly strengthen our cause. We are in a war hear, not just a presidential battle.

This is more than enough to get me really excited. The best part....no 'sneaky' college kids to swing the vote.

Maybe I am wrong, but if he actually runs we are in position to do some damage to the political system--good damage.

You're not wrong

If he ever became a legitimate contender according to the polls, the media would be forced to treat him with a little more respect and give him more airtime. If he gets more airtime, he'll do well because he's got the best arguments, by far. There's no comparison between an RP speech and the drivel coming from any current Republican frontrunner. And the conservatives are starting to come around on foreign policy. For example, listen to Joe Scarborough's podcast:

http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2010/03/18/joe-scarborough-on...

And remember! The first 11% is the hardest.

yep. Mitt Romney spent a part

yep. Mitt Romney spent a part of his CPAC speech praising Bush for "halting the 2001 recession", the direct cause of Great Depression part 2. How clueless can they be?

Ventura 2012

That's incredible

I don't recall ever seeing a national poll where he made it into double digits. In the 2008 campaign, he eventually made it up to about 10% in his best state primaries, but not in national polling. This is huge. This means he starts off on day one as a serious candidate.

I think if he could ever overcome the "I like him but he could never win" nonsense then people would start supporting him in droves. This poll shows that he's not that far from accomplishing this.

Not that Idaho is the decider

but he got 24% here.

Yes, that's true. There were

Yes, that's true. There were a few states where he did even better. But this is great to see 11% on a nationwide basis. He could easily win some primaries if he's already got this kind of support. If the momentum continues, who knows?

good point, they have to let

good point, they have to let him in all the debates

Ventura 2012

Nice

Lets hope it improves.

In late 2007 Ron Paul was at 2% as far as I remember

this is actually a very big improvement. Palin and Paul have a lot of overlap dont forget that. wether we like it or not thats the truth.
now this time we actually have a very good chance at winning IOWA. but we need to make a win at the SRLC and the IOWA caucus to keep the momentum going

Correct

He was polling between 1% and 5% in various polls at the beginning of the last presidential election cycle. That's why I saw this as positive. 11% among GOP voters is a good start.

If you scroll down to the

If you scroll down to the bottom there's a little chart that associates the ideologies of the people who are choosing each candidate. Ron Paul has 67% under liberal while almost everyone else has a - in that column.

Never too early for propaganda.

We still have time, Dr. Paul is getting a lot of exposure. People will figure it out when things get worse, which they are destined too.
