Ethics panel: Grayson can oversee Senate race

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Secretary of State Trey Grayson can oversee the U.S. Senate race in Kentucky without any apparent conflict of interest, a government ethics panel ruled Friday.

As secretary of state, Grayson is also the chairman of the state Board of Elections. He is one of five Republicans running for the Senate seat being vacated by Jim Bunning, who is retiring.
One of Grayson’s GOP rivals, Bowling Green ophthalmologist Rand Paul, questioned whether the secretary of state should recuse himself from oversight of the race. He said in a January letter to Grayson's office that he should “immediately step aside.”
But John Steffen, head of the Executive Branch Ethics Commission, said “there's nothing on the face of it that requires abstention.”

Paul campaign manager David Adams said “we just need to make sure that the race isn't close.”

The fox in the hen house

Be real curious to see how this shakes out, with Paul holding a double digit lead.

You mean the fox...

IS the henhouse in this situation. Any person worth their salt would step aside and allow independent intervention to show true sportsmanship. However, these neo-cons are playing for blood and careless the means they use to draw it - that's ethics for you.
