The FDA is murdering me!

The FDA ordered producers of Red Yeast Rice to remove the natural statin, which has NO side effects. Synthetic statin is the active ingredient in Lipitor and other anti-cholesterol drugs. Synthetic statin causes liver irritation, which is why doctor's recommend quarterly blood work from patients taking synthetic statins. The FDA ordered natural statin removed from Red Yeast Rice to protect their fat-cat drug company buddies. Red Yeast Rice is the ONLY thing that reduces my cholesterol; and, now, my high triglycerides levels are damaging my liver. I've already become anemic and my doctor fears I have developed autoimmune hepatitis.

It's time to shut down the power-mad FDA. At the very least, we should eliminate their power to regulate natural products.

I feel ya...

The F*ckin Dumb A*sholes (FDA)just stopped Pelikan from selling black ink to the tattoo industry. We have used it for, I dunno... 70 years with no problems. If people ever wondered why the mob can be a good thing, here is a prime example.

Desk nerd with a power trip gets his way because of govt. Said nerd gets his legs broke from messing with the wrong people. It seems power hungry desk nerds would then watch where they step.

Now, of course, a black market will be set up in Mexico or Canada then shipped the ink to America. So to use the pigment that Sailor Jerry used in WWII I will have to pay a steep price, hope that the quality is the same and all the while worry about a desk nerd pissing on my life for... no... reason.

Its out of control. We have no freedom between govt and regulators at EVERY level. Local, state and federal just seem like they wont be happy till they screw your daughter and piss in your closet.

Interesting point about vitamin C. The way the law and the

FDA are presently constituted, if you went on TV and advertised vitamin C tablets, as a way to avoid scurvy, you'd be in technical violation of the law.....even though you'd be telling the truth. But then, since when did the truth matter to the FDA? Since you were suggesting that vitamin C could be used to prevent a disease (scurvy), you'd be breaking the law. It's absurd. Against the law to speak the truth. Gee, aren't we lucky that there's a 1st amendment? Yeah, right.

The FDA's war on Mother Nature
It's not the first time the FDA has declared a natural molecule to be a "drug" while attacking nutritional supplements that contain the same molecule. A similar story unfolded with red yeast rice and the lovastatin molecules it contains that lower high cholesterol. The drug companies engaged in biopiracy, ripping off the molecule from red yeast rice to make their now-famous "statin drugs." Once the statin drugs were patented, Big Pharma and the FDA went after red yeast rice, claiming the supplement was "adulterated with pharmaceuticals."

It wasn't really adulterated, of course. It just contained a natural statin-drug-like molecule that the drug companies copied and patented.

It would be like Big Pharma patenting vitamin C, then the FDA claiming that all oranges and lemons were adulterated with drugs because they naturally contain their own vitamin C.

Gary Null has taken the FDA to court

wonder what it would take to get

a class action suit for the many harmed by FDA regulations?

The regulators always wind up in the pocket of those being

regulated. The FDA is a fine example of that principle.

This is horrible. My Dad

This is horrible. My Dad might also be affected by this as well. His doctor had him go on Red Yeast Rice around 6-8 years ago. I'm not sure if he still takes it, though.

Do you have any links where I can read up further on this? When does it go into effect?

Things like this really make one wonder whether our government cares about the people at all.

I

agree with riverrun below...try to get this information out there.
BTW, I despise the FDA and their meddling. I cannot get my natural thyroid anymore, although I am now taking iodine and a thyroid herbal supplement. I'm not sure what the long term effects of not having my thyroid medication is going to be, though...I had been on the stuff for decades. I absolutely refuse to take Synthroid. Before I knew better, I had tried Synthroid and it did NOT work for me! Plus, what happens to me and others in my situation when FDA comes after the iodine and herbal thyroid supplement???

Your story can get people thinking.
Any chance you can get interviewed by a "troubleshooter" tv show, or for a local newspaper.

This actually sounds like an

This actually sounds like an issue for John Stossel to take up for his new show.

First they attack Red Yeast Rice, next it will probably be Garlic, Niacin or maybe both!

Wher have you been?

the guy with the information on this is Gary Null

I don't know that this is a question of where I've been but rather where has Gary Null been. This is the first time I recall ever hearing of him. Maybe he isn't doing a good enough job promoting himself. He should consider sponsoring the DailyPaul with an advertisement as doing that would be sure to reach tens of thousands each day.

That's all besides the point, though.

If Gary Null is the expert on this issue, then hopefully this can be brought up on Stossel's show with Null as a guest expert interview.

The idea of basically outlawing natural substances simply because some big pharma companies use the substance in their medicines is quite preposterous.
