Can someone set up a site?

Hey, how about somebody set up a site where people can submit ads, users can vote for the best ones. They are then ranked based on user votes, those with the most votes listed at the top (I have seen some grassroots ads on youtube that are far superior to anything the official campaigns have released). Then have a chip-in link where people can donate to air the ads of their choice. Something like this could be huge! What do you guys think? Any ambitious web coders out there?

It's been used to decide which video to show at our movie screenings, but works exactly as you describe.

If you log in with a username of "Guest" and a password of "guest", then you can see it in action.

Government Paperwork

Just keep in mind that cooperative projects may require government paperwork in order to "protect" the voters from us. Campaign contributors, even if they don't coordinate with the official campaign, are required to report donations if they "form a committee."

Someone could make videos and make them available, and let people vote, I suppose, without having to report (unless they take donations). But it would be simpler for people to just download them and pay to run the ad near them without coordinating with others.

What's the worst that could happen? All Ron Paul all the time?

As for chipin, people could make chipins and link to them in the summary, or we could all chip in towards the highest vote, once that's decided in a short while.

(This is powered with Google Moderator, where you vote for the best ideas from a group. Credible voting will require a login account of some sort; I chose 'evil' Google, since we'll be using Google TV ads...)

Yes, it needs more of a setup-explanation page. I can get on that in a day or so.

It controls the voting. I think a chip in for the winner is the best way to go. Or, as soon as target $X is achieved, the #1 voted thing will be sent to Google TV ads? I'm working on a parent site.
