I went to the Anti-War march and rally in DC
I'm only 5 hours away and I thought I might be able to sell a T-shirt or two...No luck on that front, but it was very interesting.
I was absolutely the only Ron Paul guy at the event, it was a bit surreal hearing all the arguments 'we make' coming from -- and believe me -- hard core self identified communists. I'm not exaggerating in the least.
I stood out like a sore thumb sporting my Ron Paul Peace sign shirt. Everyone was very friendly and curious and I got a chance to talk to quite a few people. I'm as amazed at the philosophical disconnect of the hard left as I am the hard right. I had some great conversations and I felt like I represented our views in a very respectful and informed manner. I even spoke with a young man sporting a Karl Marx shirt. All in all it was a very interesting experience. My overall feeling is that even with these hard core antiwar folks, they'd never vote for Ron Paul over Obama (who they were calling out)...I know, it boggles the mind.
I hope at least one or two of them will at least think of some of the things we talked about and question their movement and ideas. It's mind boggling to think that the anti war movement is not supporting the most adamantly anti war politician in the history of the United States. We need to own the peace sign, it's being co-opted by these people. I just got back and I'm going to bed.

If these people do not agree with
the Constitutional principles this country was founded on they need to find new places to live..ie another country.
Considering the dire financial circumstances the United States finds itself under due to FED legal usurpation, cognitive dissonance where U.S. citizens are concerned should be a crime. If you cannot bring yourself out of the funk of brain wash and identify and resist these things that enslave YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE. Should be deemed punishable by fine and incarceration. On every level from you local city council to all the criminals in Washington D.C. If any policies do not match up legally with the national and state level Constitutional law these are nullified. Unless there is explicit language that makes these law and they are in congruency with Constitutional provisions then they are void. Knowing this and not doing anything about laws that are not laws that exist to steal time and resources is an act of unacceptable criminal complicity. Not understanding this is a crime. I've had enough of the stupidity.
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
Yes, Yes,...
All the anti-federalists, like Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry, should get out.
(Hint: The anti-federalists were right, and the Constitution is not one of our founding documents. The Declaration of Independence is.)

Thanks for doing this and telling us about it
I find it interesting how other camps are just as devout as the neocons.
But to be fair, us Ron Paulers are pretty devout ourselves.
Everyone thinks they are right, everyone has good intentions.
Sadly, very few of us know both what is going on and what to do about it.

Sorry we missed you...we attended also...
hi, very sorry we missed you. Two of us also attended: we arrived around 1pm at the peace-rally and marched from 1:30pm to around, i think, 3:30pm. We estimated about 8,000 people in the march. From there we walked through the mall to the capitol to attend the healthcare rally: by the time we got there it was around 4:00pm to 4:30pm; we estimated around 800 people there at that time, although there may have been more earlier.
like you, we met alot of really nice people at the peace march and many, surprisely, open to Ron Paul (they noticed i was wearing a Ron Paul t-shirt). -there seemed to be _alot_ of resentment toward Obama, and Cindy Sheehan and Ralph Nader both nailed Obama in their speeches.
would have been nice if the Ron Paul people could have marched together under a banner of libertarianism. oh well...

Rusty, its exactly the same story in Britain.
I've only been a Libertarian for a couple of years now.
The last anti-war demonstration I went to was in 2003. That was just prior to the Iraq invasion.
It was a very well attended peaceful demonstration. Approximately 1.5 million of us marched through London against the war. Practically everyone there was from the political "left".
This is the kind of useful idiot that you are likely to meet at anti-war demos in London:

If there were any economic or social conservatives at the 2003 demo, they kept pretty quiet!

I think the natives are truly getting restless now. It will get scarier, but I am pretty sure I am glad it is happening. Sooo many people (my sister!) think Obama is wonderful and that questioning him is only hurting his effectiveness.
Just got back from a teaparty express party
much easier crowd, very pro war though. Talked to alot of people about the Fed, suprisingly most knew what I was talking about. End the Fed and we win back our freedom. Keep up the great work rusty!!!!

When I saw the I A Lovers I
When I saw the I A Lovers I realized this is going to be a tough fight. Not only do we have the scum in D.C. to deal with, we also have these millitant invaders to struggle with.
But I have to say this, When I worked as a prison guard I was more afraid of the guards than the inmates. So the illegals could be less trouble than we anticipate. We just have to swing them over to Constitutional thinking.
They could be the passion we need to fight the NWO.
They don't play around.
"GINO" = Government In Name Only
I also attended from Philadelphia
and alternated shirts outdoors (without an integral public sign) between points advocated by Ron Paul, EndTheFed, 9-11 Truth.
When wearing my RP shirt (a smaller percentage of the time), there was some appreciation and discussion of Dr. Paul's positions.
Incidentally, there was a robust 9/11 Truth presence and related attention to the Federal Reserve.
Thanks for the info

Bet you felt like you were speaking another language.
As a liberal, recently turned libertarian I'll try to give you a little perspective on how the anti-war people think. The American Liberal worldview is that rich people caused the Great Depression with their capitalism and that this country was saved by the Federal government under the benevolent rule of FDR. The booms and busts have continued since then because of capitalists and all our problems would be solved if we just gave the Federal government more power over the market place.
JFK, LBJ, Carter, Clinton and Obama aren't to blame for getting/keeping us in unnecessary conflicts overseas. Democrats only do this because they need to look tough on communism/terrorism to please the Republicans, not because they too are beholden to the military-industrial complex. See the root of the problems is really the Republicans, therefore voting for Democrats is always better!
Completely changing the liberal worldview is going to be difficult, but I necessary if we can ever get the power out of the hands of the statists that run both political parties. I see a lot of potential in the "End the Fed" movement though. Instead of trying to explain the problems with socialism, try to get to the root of their misinformation. Liberals are primarily pro-socialism because of the Great Depression. Now, it might be tempting to attack FDR and the New Deal but go back further than that, to how the Fed caused the Depression (it shouldn't be that hard to explain since it is essentially the same policy that has gotten us in the current economic mess).
Welcome and Thank you for
giving us some insight on how to best frame things when talking with a liberal. If we use the common beliefs (anti-war) and build bridges from there, we can unite and get out from under this false left-right paradigm.

neko, as one recenty-turned libertarian,
you are a very fast learner! Congratulations on freeing your mind -- and educating yourself.
Its the use of force thing that makes them think
I just kept saying Ron Paul is for peace in all things not just war. They sure do hate the rich and blame all the worlds problems on them, when I asked them to define rich they said "billionaires" I asked who gets to decide who's rich and what the exact number is when you no longer have the right to keep your income...no reply.
Ironic that ANY state would appose mandatory insurance...
...when they all mandate auto insurance.
Hypocritical.
First and foremost, this
First and foremost, this issue is a States right. The Constitution does not delegate this authority to the federal government. The States are not forbidden this authority, therefore is is a States right and ONLY a States right. Refer to the 10th Amendment for more details on that.

Ron Paul....
is the answer, the disconnect really is incredible. How Billery got away with stating that all the Republicans were for the war just more bull. Maybe she was reminding us that Dr. Paul was not really a Republican but who'd wanna be? How about we have a Party that obeys the Constitution, The New Constitutional Party how would the MSM propagandize that sort of movement? Dems and Reps TAKE THEM AWAY!!!
9/11 was an inside job .....time to get some answers..RP 2012
