How to delete your daily paul account??

0 votes

I have been over this site fairly well and I cannot find any way for a person who wishes to delete their account to do so. I have even done a forum search on this, and there is nothing in the account area or on the main page of the site that instructs you how to accomplish this if it were to be your objective.

I was also wondering how long your personal information and posts are retained on the servers? I hope someone in the community perhaps one of the mods or Michael could answer these vexing questions for me. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Re: I am aware of the secret rooms at every ISP in the USA

I run an ISP. The secret rooms are stored at fiber-interconnect facilities throughout the USA.

The Naurus 9000 unit was reported by a AT&T employee in San Francisco right off the fiber connection. I believe it was setup by the NSA or DOD.

I don't believe there is currently the capacity to store anything and everything, but it may be coming. The govt would need dedicated fiber connections from most internet hub sites to 100 acre underground bunkers for just storage. I don't think our government is this sophisticated yet, possibly the military would be capable. It would be things sensitive to duplicate - possibly VoIP calls using SIP connections and certain content found within a data stream like keywords e.g. revolution, war, etc.

I recently had a trip to fly on united and was curious if I would be issued a boarding pass. I had absolutely no problems and I've been a member here for about 1.5 yrs posting fairly regularly.

no need to store everything.

no need to store everything. just pass the data through filters and capture only 5%, using keywords and phrases that are on "the list".

I agree

Yes that is how some information is gathered, but there are also onsite rooms where information is gathered and stored and then removed for storage offsite by such agencys.

I also agree that the government may not have the capacity to store everything either, but using such programs as Carnivore and Eschelon they are sure to have a program that only gathers the information that may be useful for an investigation and only store what they believe is of value to them thereby lessening the overall amount of data they would need to be able to store.

I am not concerned about my posts on the Daily Paul. If I am on a list, so be it. I don't fly anymore so I have no real concern about being on a list. In truth, a friend was thinking about joining and found the inability to delete your account and the lack of a privacy policy disturbing, since most websites have them as a general rule and they are fairly obvious to anyone searching for that information. Thanks for your response.

They might not store everything...

but they can for sure store everything about what they consider controversial sites. I'm sure the Daily Paul is one of them.

At this time

there is no way to delete your account.

As you said, you can go back to your posts and delete them individually, and change your user name.

If you go back and delete your old posts

would that bump them all up again as active? thanks.

At this time?

Is this something that will be here in the future? Does the Daily Paul have a privacy policy? Does our account info get sold to any third party company?
How long do our posts remain on the site? Is there a 1 or 2 year limit or is it based on thread activity or do they remain here forever? Any assistance you could offer would be appreciated.

and what if you have a locked accout..

How would you go about it then?

Michael

what if someone changes your username for you such as changing someone from from dale in oklahoma to daleinadaoklahoma. I'd love to clear out some old posts but I can't sign into my original name for whatever reason.

Thanks!

Thanks

I appreciate you taking time from what must be a busy schedule to answer my question about how to delete an account. I had come to the same conclusion, that there is no way to delete your account.

I was also wondering how long this site retains personal information and or what kind of privacy policy the site has with regard to the information the members post here.

Do you sell it to any third parties? Perhaps you could add something to the site or make the information available in the Daily Paul posting guidelines area.

Please forgive me if this information is available on the site or if I have overlooked it.

No privacy on the internet

I was also wondering how long this site retains personal information and or what kind of privacy policy the site has with regard to the information the members post here.

There is no privacy. There are automatons who save everything that's online. Google saves web pages. There is a site called Internet Archive that also saves most web pages. There are other private sites, and probably government sites who store everything that is written at the Daily Paul.

If I want to see what the Daily Paul front page looked like on Feb 6, 2008, I can. If I want to see the same page but on different dates, I also can do that.

Even if Nystrom has a "privacy policy", it's going to be quite ineffective. Once you post something, it's likely public forever.

Regarding the question of whether Nystrom sells the information, why would anyone buy information that is public?

Sorry for the confusion

I am sorry about the confusion, my concern was for the selling of personal information such as our account info. And if there is a timeframe such as 1 year or 2 years or if there is a thread inactivity period that establishes how long before our public posts are deleted from the archive or if they are ever deleted at all. I should have been more clear, please forgive my oversight.

I don't know it will help to delete anything

It may already be too late for me.

I just had a problem with getting a boarding pass. Couldn't print from the United website. Called Expedia for help, they said it was a computer glitch. Couldn't print from the United kiosk at the airport after putting in, again, all my personal information. The agent couldn't print it until she called-in my personal identification information to security.

It made me think: what have I done or written that might have scared someone into thinking I am some kind of threat? The Daily Paul and Firedoglake are the only places I write much of anything...pretty tame... I did write my Congressman a few times...

No problems on the return trip. Maybe just a compter glitch after all. But in a National Security State, paranoia is normal.

NsurgNt~ Too late!

Everything you have ever written on here or anywhere else, whatever you have googled, watched on you tube and all sites you have visited have already been recorded for eternity in 'the system.' You are and forever will be in the matrix...you must accept this and speak as a free person or you can try and delude yourself to not speak any further..too late...too late! So you may as well speak your mind and be yourself..put your cards on the table..place your bet because you are already a marked man.

Thanks Liberty for a good laugh!

Yes I am aware of the efforts to track and record all that we do. I am aware of the secret rooms at every ISP in the USA. And the Arrangements they have with our government. Cryptome, Usenet and other resources keep me pretty well informed along with the fact that I have been on the net since before it was pretty pictures. Lynx anyone?

I still try to limit the comments that I post online since they are easily available, unlike encrypted transmissions. I do however try to reduce my profile when and where I can.

I want to thank you for giving me a good laugh and for taking the time out of your day to try to help someone who might not be as aware as yourself. If I was not already aware, I would not have found this quite as funny as I did. Your efforts are to be commended.

Yep... good ole Lynx... ;-)

I really don't know how to get out of here ( the database of the marked ) or I would tell you!

Just don´t log in

or email and ask.

Don't login?

Does not delete my account or any personal information. I don't understand why you would post that as a solution to my problem. I have already emailed and asked but I got no response. I am not the brightest bulb in the house, but i am above 60 watts.

Then

email mr nystrom and ask to delete

Sry but that´s my only advice...

Maybe You could just for now

Maybe You could just for now erase Your personal information from Your account (edit?),
without erasing the account?

How to erase the account I don't know, haven't tried.

You can ask to have your account deleted.

I don't know of any other way to do it.

Account deletion

Thanks for your response, I have already been doing that with a lot of the comments and threads I have posted. I just found it really odd that there is not a way to delete it in your account area. Any ideas on the other question about information retention??

I would assume that the posts in the archives are kept

as long as DP is being hosted. However, having said that, there are internet-wide archives that keep files even after a site is gone.

Wiz and I were able to pull up old threads from the fake Huckabee forum that way.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Thanks again

Yes I understand that the info i post is not limited to the server on which it is posted, that it is and will be available on other servers until it is expunged by the sysadmins of those servers or archives.

I was just wondering how long this site retains personal information and or what kind of privacy policy the site might have with regard to the information the members post here. Perhaps I have not searched well enough on the site.

Usually a privacy policy and a method of deleting your account are easy to find on a website. Given the nature of the subject matter and the comments on the site I would think there may be some concern about this.

Perhaps the next time you have Michaels ear you might inquire about it since my emails can't get through.

I'll see what I can find.
