Health care industrial complex
In political science, there is a term called the iron triangle. The best example is the defense setup in the United States. The three players are the defense contractors, the Department of Defense and U.S. Senators on defense spending committees.
The health care industry is eerily similar. The three major players are pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and insurance companies. The pharmaceutical companies charge insanely high prices on their drugs so they can make more money. This price, however, largely is covered by your insurance. Hospitals, meanwhile, broker deals with these same companies for appropriate rates. The insurance companies then raise their rates in accordance, but add a bit more to the top. The biggest loser: anyone concerned about their health.

I googled a Major Hospital chain from Texas, Jeb Bush is on the Board of directors.
From 1977 to 1985 Rumsfeld served as Chief Executive Officer, President, and then Chairman of G. D. Searle & Company, a worldwide pharmaceutical company based in Skokie, Illinois. During his tenure at Searle, Rumsfeld led the company's financial turnaround, thereby earning awards as the Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Wall Street Transcript (1980) and Financial World (1981). In 1985, Searle was sold to Monsanto Company. Rumsfeld is believed to have earned around $12 million from this sale.

It is now obvious to me this legislation was used to solidify the two party left vs right paradigm and further the Balkanisation of the nation agenda. Remember that a one world government can not coexist with the founding documents.

About to get much larger
Now our Fed Govt is going to dish out hundreds of billions more to the three. It is so clear all three of these are in it together to suck as much money out of the private individual and business in premiums. Think of how much more they will be getting now for free from individuals and businesses by way of our taxes.
I feel as if the insurance companies have raised premiums to the max, they realize as this point people will start to drop off rolls and companies will not cover employees. So now look what is happening, our Fed Govt is stepping in paying these pharmas, and doctors for millions more poor people. Giving tax credits to make sure average families keep paying those premiums.
In a way it looks as if this is purely a medical industrial complex bailout. Wow, great thread, its got me thinking.

It's a BAILOUT of the healthcare systm not a reformation as described..These Insurance companies are broke & they know it..If they were making as much money as described by the lefties , they would not need eveyone signed up..
The AGE of lies & deceit are coming to a close & they know it..Your leaders chave take you down the wrong road & now they must do what they must do..To maintain some type of order.

The student loan piece in the this bill. What two industries have had the largest increase in price over the last decade. Hhhmm.....HEALTHCARE AND HIGHER EDUCATION.
Those bubbles were probably on the verge of collapse, this is nothing more than a bailout to those Democratic favorite industries.

Pharmaceutical cures are over rated, and in my opinion very debilitating, if not lethal.
Research cannabis' benefits, and allowing your own body to heal itself, without the hormonal push of powdered, adulterated toxins called the prescription drug.
The body can create a baby, but you think you have to go to a doctor, to rid yourself of a cold.
Smoking cigarettes is less harmful for you than eating most cooked foods (acrylamide and carmalization, the cross linking of molecules changing the signature of the "food")
Become at least a 50% rawfooder, exercise and trust in the fact, that cannabis assist your mind and body to heal itself. Pharmaceutical drugs "stunt the brain healing mechanisms" of which cannabis "enable" and therein, allowing a cure and pain management.
And by the way, nothing is better for the treatment of anxiety.
Seek enlightenment, question authority, and think for yourself.

maybe off topic...raw broccoli
Twice now, I've eaten raw broccoli and felt horrible with gastrointestinal issues. Do you know anything about that? Is it something that happens to people as they age? Is it something...some kind of fermentation/bacterial process...about the structure of broccoli's fiber? What gives, do you know?
When you recommend raw, do you mean RAW...like, totally uncooked, or is it simply unprocessed food you recommend?
I'm thinking I want to get my veggies in a soup now instead of in a salad.

markets. What you are describing is fascism, intertwining of corporations and government. Ron Paul uses the term, "corporatism".
I take the view that there is but one political scale with anarchy (total freedom) at one end and totalitarianism (total subjugation) at the other. The US started out with a political system falling toward the anarchy end of the scale, but time has moved us toward the totalitarianism end. Whatever "ism" you use to describe what is occurring, the reality is that those who believe in and benefit from increasing government plunder and control have succeeded in significantly destroying freedom, and currently control the seats of power.
The preponderance of those who call themselves Republicans and Democrats are the real enemy of freedom because it is they who have brought us big government. Those who place a great value on freedom are still a very small portion of the population.
