Hemp Farming in Africa: A Billion Dollar Industry?

0 votes

Well, thank goodness there are countries such as Canada, France, Russia, Norway, Holland, China and many others whose governments are led by individuals with a different political agenda concerning hemp.
The government has made hemp illegal to grow for purely political reasons in the USA, and results in the War on Drugs and the deception about "health care" in America, which is based on artificial drugs, and the War On Drugs will be locked in, and we are in a truly police state, being criminalized and harrassed for our health and well being choices. Really, really sociopathic monopoly based on insanity of what health really is not.
Growing hemp could break this cycle of prohibition.
Heck, they've even passed these ridiculous policies on to other naive nations trying to earn favours (usually access to US markets, or financial aid). This is in order to protect some very big and powerful corporations (Archer Daniels Midland, Dupont, the entire pharmaceutical industry, the toxic cotton industry, among others) as billions of dollars in profits and shareholder equity are at stake.

I think hemp is great but as

I think hemp is great but as usual the politically connected corps have outlawed it to protect thier markets.

I have discovered Stinging nettle is comparable to hemp in fiber and also has many medicinal qualities and is very nutritious. Maybe we could circumvent the bastages on this and use nettles while hemp is still illegal. I made a post on it a while back: http://www.dailypaul.com/node/127643

Also Milk Weed and Indian Hemp are good fiberous plants that could help us in that.

There is no reason for hemp to be illegal to grow.

It's just we all are hanging on to medieval mindset of an outdated, draconian war on drugs.

Which commodities are worth buying or holding on to?

"I recently bought more of all of them. But I really think agriculture is going to be the best place to be. Agriculture's been a horrible business for 30 years. For decades the money shufflers, the paper shufflers, have been the captains of the universe. That is now changing. The people who produce real things [will be on top]. You're going to see stockbrokers driving taxis. The smart ones will learn to drive tractors, because they'll be working for the farmers. It's going to be the 29-year-old farmers who have the Lamborghinis. So you should find yourself a nice farmer and hook up with him or her, because that's where the money's going to be in the next couple of decades."

What thinks the country's largest farming organization on hemp?

Responding to an effort led primarily by Kentucky farmers, the country's largest farming organization this week endorsed research that could lead to the re-legalization of hemp as an American farm crop.

Hemp farming

would be the solution to so many problems. This whole global warming farce could be totally eliminated if we grew hemp for energy, wood, cloth, food, etc. It is a very environmentally-friendly crop and has so many uses. I don't know what Ecuador's stance is on this but I would sure like to be able to grow some down there.

Currently thirty-two countries, including Canada,

Great Britain, France and China, allow farmers to grow industrial hemp. Currently, hemp farming in the United States is not permitted unless you receive a permit from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Not being able to grow hemp is road kill of the war on drugs, and Ecuador borders Colombia.

As far as the public with casual use of cannabis:
Baños, Ecuador, definitely has a hippie feeling, and this extended to the nightlife. Keeping with the hippie sentiment, marijuana is available from characters on the street selling pipes and other trinkets. 7.50 USD buys a pipe and about 2-3 grams of mediocre smoke. Drug use in Ecuador is discreet. Unlike it’s neighbors, Peru and Columbia, drugs are hard to find in Ecuador. Baños was the only town in Ecuador that seemed to cater to this element of society.

The drug war under scrutiny
http://www.news2020.com/

Ecuador's involvement in the U.S. drug war grew out
of a series of international agreements that culminated
in a 1999 accord for what the U.S. military refers to as a
Forward Operating Location (FOL) at the Manta base. 1
When Howard Air Force Base in Panama closed that
same year, the U.S. Southern Command began opening
FOLs at existing Latin American and Caribbean airfields.
These were designed to take over the reconnaissance
and surveillance operations formerly centered at
Howard.

Correa kicked us out

We no longer have a base in Manta, Ecuador. Correa kicked us out when our lease was up this year. That is one of the excuses the U.S. is using to build more bases in Colombia. After watching "Apology of an Economic Hitman" I believe it is just a way of controlling Latin American governments who don't want to play house with us.

Ecuadorians I have met have a fabulous outlook on ecology.

Their university encourage permaculture, yet the lands are spoiled by the meg corporations. However, what happens in one country, may happen in another, and of all my travels, Ecuador would be a worthy place to get in, live the life, mix it up with the transition, get the permit. A temporary permit may be availabe.
Even a small family corn farmer needs the young son to stay up at night, rifle in hand, and guard the crops.
Look into an ecological and or productive use for hemp farming. There may be finacier interested in the region you're settling.
