Just posted on LewRockwell.com: A feature article by James Ostrowski with MUCH MORE on his new little book, Direct Citizen Action: How We Can Win the Second American Revolution Without Firing a Shot. Sobering, but hopeful. We should all read this and get the book.
Note: This is the introduction to Direct Citizen Action: How We Can Win the Second American Revolution Without Firing a Shot, published last week.

This book is for people who have concluded that America is in serious trouble because its government got too big. I make no effort to prove that here. I and many others have done that at length elsewhere. It is simply an assumption of the book. So, this is a book for libertarians, Paulians, tea party people, limited government conservatives and anyone else who accepts the above proposition. Let’s call us the liberty movement.
Being a libertarian for thirty years, Ron Paul’s election lawyer in New York State in 2007–8, and a leader of the tea party movement should give me the credibility to say what needs to be done now. I am not some Johnny-come-lately to the cause or a paid political hack for any party or plutocrat. I received no outside support to write or publish this book. I’m a working-class lawyer who lives with his wife and two children in a three-bedroom home in a working-class neighborhood in North Buffalo.
The impetus for this book was my fear that the liberty movement is being set up for a big disappointment in 2010 and 2012. While public opinion is turning our way and millions of grassroots activists hit the streets to protest big government last year, the odds are that the same GOP establishment whose free-spending ways and nation-building wars set the stage for Obama, will be choosing the candidates for Congress this year and will choose the nominee against Obama in 2012. These folks are unapologetic about their decades of support for big government policies, yet they will cleverly say the things their consultants tell them to say to appeal to the liberty movement.

The Democrats in Congress will not take calls. They will not heed emails. Their offices are closed today.
There is no way to reach them today. They are committed to marching off a cliff if necessary to push through this bill.

The ideas in this book can produce a revolution in American life, but his approach will threaten the comfortable careers of lobbyists and conservative fund-raisers. Imagine a movement that the PEOPLE can implement without professional organizers or fund-raisers.

I don't have a Kindle reader, or I would have. It will take a few days for my paper copy to arrive. If you have the Kindle copy, please share your reaction.

I fully agree the only way is through non-cooperation. that is it. At this point, it is go Gandhi or nothing. The real question is who is willing to start doing it? It's easy to talk but action or non-action is harder or more courageous.

So, our first task is
So, our first task is obvious: education. We need to educate ourselves before we can educate others. We need to study the history and principles of the American Revolution. We need to study war and peace. War is the health of the state. We need to study economics.
Let’s take a quick look at the American Revolution.
• England needed money for war.
• They taxed the Colonists.
• The Colonists didn’t want to pay.
• England sent troops and tax collectors armed with general warrants to find taxable stuff.
• The Colonists got angry and threatened resistance.
• The English decided to seize the Colonists’ guns.
• War broke out.
Lessons:
• War means high taxes.
• Taxes mean invasion of privacy.
• To steal your money and violate your privacy, the government must disarm you first.
• You have the natural right to resist tyranny.
• Gun control was the proximate cause of the American Revolution.
• America was born in an act of resistance to gun control!
***********
Economics. Did you know that if the American people understood one simple principle, that we could shrink the size of government by 90% in three months. What principle? All resources are scarce. If we could only understand that principle, which just happens to be the first law of economics, then all the politicians’ lies about adding new programs like the bailout and stimulus would be laughed at

can always count on the support of Paul.

Looks good, thanks for the
suggstion.
Let them keep Amerika
I want my liberty back (and the money I sent Rand).
Why don't you ask Rand for you money then?
He'll give it back to you.
Hopefully then you stop bothering those of us who care about doing something to restore liberty.
doing something to restore liberty
LOL. Bet you voted for The Gipper, too. How'd that work out for you?
No I didn't vote for the Gipper
Rand Paul is much better than Reagan.
Going back to my point. I'm serious. He'll give it back to you if you ask him.
I'll give it a try and let you know
.
If Rand Paul gives his money back
will you continue to be brash on him? You know call him a neo-con...
You do realize that he's not a neo-con right.. the establishment is fighting him you know.
Tear him down tho.. if that's your intention. I would love to see you run for office big guy.
"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
-- Thomas Jefferson
BTW - as many have noted
education is the only way, but liberty is a hard sell.
It's scary. Fear sells better.
The Internet is changing things, but ya GATA be able to read....
I would never be elected - nor would I pretend to be
something I am not, in order to get elected. Rand is either a neo-con or a panderer to neo-cons. Either way, it doesn't work for me. Sneaking 'our guy' into office so we can ram our libertarian agenda down the throat of Boobus AmericANUS isn't a realistic plan. If Boobus were ready for liberty, Rand wouldn't have to pander (and that's putting the best face on it).
BUMP
ready to move on to the next level. Direct citizen action is the only way to go IMO.
