Laura Ingraham Owes Ron Paul an Apology!
Submitted by Cynthia on Sun, 08/12/2007 - 15:23Did everyone notice Laura Ingraham's sarcastic comment, "The inmates have left the asylum" directed to the Ron Paul supporters as they entered the convention room?
Her entire introduction was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to Ron Paul, and his supporters. How arrogant and mindless! Maybe, she was trying to be funny, but her comments were in bad taste and definitely reflected her dislike for Ron Paul.
I really took offense to her remarks. We should inundate Laura Ingraham's email box and/or call her at 800.876.4123 and demand that she apologizes publicly to Ron Paul and to his supporters.

She also didn't introduce Ron Paul as the "next" president of the United States, unlike what she, and the announcer did for the other candidates.
Laura Ingraham continued to attack and degrade Ron Paul throughout his introduction. Her remarks on Ron Paul's bill regarding Osama bin Laden were totally uncalled for. It wasn't her place to air her political opinions at this convention. And then, to ask the audience to verbally vote on it, this was way out of line!

This morning, 8/13, Fox news is omitting Ron Paul on their list of Republicans at the Iowa straw poll. They list goes from Brownback to both Thompsons but skips RP. Ron, leave this sinking ship of a party as soon as you can. They want to ignore reality and the Constitution.

I am convinced that when we write and call en mass that those who are NOT Ron Paul supporters join in and are purposely rude, obnoxious, and/or vulgar so that the supporters reputation can be slurred and sullied.
It is a lot of fun to write polite and charming "put-downs" and to demonstrate that our sense of humor is in tact and that no one can really hurt our feelings or slur us without our willing participation.
We need to make Miss Manners proud if we do contact.

Why beat a dead horse? When I too listened to the introduction, I thought *what??* and it did sound derogatory to me and I was a little stunned and surprised at what she said! There is no use saying something to someone as unprofessional and as uncouth as that. Let it be, what is done is done and nothing will happen except *that woman* will make a scene about being threatened, verbally abused, etc.. by Ron Paul supporters....
We know, she knows, Ron Paul knows but as usually he will turn the other cheek which is all one can do to avoid controntation...

You are right on the target about Laura Ingraham. She was extremely rude and disrespectful towards Ron Paul. I used to listen to her radio show in the mornings but she has now lost a listener and my respect for her also. I put her in the same category as with Sean Hannidity whenever he interviewed Ron on one of the first debates on TV. He was downright rude to him and I will never listen to him either. I was going to email Laura and tell her what I thought of her but I will be the better person and not say anything to her as Ron wouldn't like us to react that way.

Maybe, we should complain to the the Republican Party of Iowa instead? After all, they're responsible for the running of the Straw Poll and placing Ingraham in the position of MC. Although, I don't really believe they would apologize to Ron Paul either.
Slamming any candidate in the Straw Poll as "Master of Ceremonies" was unprofessional. It was not her place to slam, promote or give any candidate special attention. Her duties as Master of Ceremonies was to introduce the candidates, not use the podium as a platform for her views.

I thought when she said "The inmates have left the asylum" referred to John Cox's supporters!
I liked it when she said " There goes the Peace Train." as Ron Paul delegates streamed out of the front stage area.
I thought Laura was awkward, out of place and unprofessional throughout all the speeches. I see Dr. Paul was interviewed on her radio show the day previous. I'd be curious to hear how that interview went.
On the whole however, the Ames Straw Poll was a great experience for the Ron Paul campaign. Congratulations to Dr. Ron and Carol Paul for representing our message so wonderfully. Congratulations to RonPaulRadio.com for the fun live commentary while I alternated between C-Span and RPradio. I loved all the signs! I had a great day watching & listening to the Ames Straw Poll from our outpost here in Canada.

Laura Ingraham is Ignorant of History & the Constitution
In her introduction when she made fun of Dr. Paul's bill about citizens going after Osama, she apparently had no knowledge of which she spoke.
Maybe Ron Paul needs to give her a reading assignment, she certainly sounded like she needs an "Educating Laura Ingraham" lesson.
According to our US Constitution Letters of Marque and Reprisal can only be issued by Congress.
Unlike her, Ron Paul's supporters are much more intelligent and more informed than those who reside in her asylum.

She also seems to miss the point. It wouldn't be a draft where some poor guy gets "commissioned" for the task out of the blue. It would a pool of willing volunteers, and my understanding is that you don't have to be a U.S. Citizen to be commissioned.
There would be some basic ground rules as well. Because the U.S. government wouldn't be underwriting a "by any means necessary" method. In fact, the people most likely to betray Bin Laden will be fairly close to him, those are the ones you want to entice and encourage.

Do it politely
I think just as long as you POLITELY let her know that these are in the constitution and that her joke was off-color I don't see a problem. I know she would love to have some of us curse her out on the air, but if people call in and speak sensibly, might make a few converts on her show. Also, harsh emails will be read on the air by her even if she receives 99.9% kindly worded emails she will read the ones that make us look bad. I say from now on our message is one of positivity, even when we put someone in check. Pass it around!
Ron Paul supporters should
Ron Paul supporters should never be rude or crude. A person can get their point across without resorting to those tactics. And will be better received in the process.
If you don't think you will be able to control yourself, than it would be much better for Ron Paul's imagine if you would remain silent and support him in other ways.
Each person has their own strong points.

Maybe then she would realize Ron Paul supporters are not living in an ayslum, but unlike others they are living in the real world of the US Constitution.
Ron Paul is a very wise man and knows his history and the US Constitution, because who else would ever have thought of the Letters of Marque and Repirsal.
I wonder how many in this country, let alone those in Congress even know what they are...it's obvious Ms. Ingraham doesn't. LOL
