If you are judgement proof, that's another thing....If you owe more on your house than it's worth, let them take it. If you are working under the table...no big deal. The duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county. He has law enforcement powers that exceed that of any other state or federal official.

I called our sheriff and got his email address so I could educate him concerning his role in law enforcement. I had a nice talk with him and he hem-hawed and agreed with me.
This was all to no avail as he is a chicken-chit. I believe the only resolution to our predicament has to begin with the jury and the sheriff.

That would be awesome. It does require a population with enough spine to flat out refuse to vote any traitor sheriff into office, though.
In general, the main problem we have fighting this, is people are a bunch of spineless wusses. There are plenty of counties and states with a huge majority opposing this nonsense, but so many just wither away when it comes time for actual confrontation.
And I don't mean violence. All a state and local law enforcers have to do, is budget their resources to be spent on more pressing needs than aiding the feds' theft. Using the FBI to arrest people for non compliance will cost orders of magnitude more than what the fine will bring in, in addition to really souring people on the feds' presence. So they won't do it.
