Des Moines Register GOP Debate 12/12 - Commentary
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Thu, 12/13/2007 - 10:48Des Moines Register's Republican Presidential Candidate Debate
PBS, C-SPAN, CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews
1:00 PM CENTRAL Time (check local listings for exact times)
Watch it online here. That is the Des Moines Register's site. They say, "Watch the debate live and chat here."
I suggest we all take them up on their offer, and chat up Ron Paul. Please use your judgment and don't be obnoxious. This is a great way to cross pollinate among the GOP.

Beneath the surface...
I caught a part of Hannity & Colmes last night (nothing else on) and heard an interesting tid-bit from the one and only Frank Luntz. Comles asked him if anyone was really paying attention to the debates in Iowa this week, especially since they are broadcast at 2 in the afternoon on a weekday. Luntz let the cat out of the bag and said something like "well that's why people watch THIS show so we can tell them what happened and how the candidates did." Naturally he had his handpicked "focus group" to provide 'meaningful" insights into the stellar performances of Thompson, Guiliani, and Romney. Good thing we serfs have an enlighted and unbiased media to hold our hand through the democratic process. Someone pass the Kool Aid.
Luntz is a joke
........but sadly the majority are unaware of him.
Luntz, "I can get any result by picking the right questions or the right people to ask".

One must think that the Dems strategy is to get Huck picked as he is the weakest dog to fight against. This strategy was widely leaked today.
Gotta say it...
F*ck you, Frank! (^_^)

Don't blame me! I voted for Ron Paul!
Where is the political CENTER?
After the primaries the republicans, who were staying to the right and the democrats who were staying to the left pick the nominee who proceeds to go rushing to the political center. Since announcing Dr. Paul has been at the political center...Why?
Most importantly because of his stand on the war.
The electorate defines the political center...NOT THE POLITICAL STRATEGISTS.
THEY JUST TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHERE IT IS GOING TO BE IN NOVEMBER...because they are scum that will do anything to win...why? Because they want power (which happens ot be the antithesis of freedom)
Now, this time they have problems. They did not expect the American public to set ending the war just a millimeter to the left of the political center. They thought it would stay way out to the left and killing al Qaeda
and not "surrendering" would stay just a millimeter to the right of the center.
OOPS! (This is miracle number 3 of the Ron Paul campaign.)
Guess again, bucko. Each day this campaign is turning into a moral debate...why? Because Dr. Paul is turning it into a moral debate. Presidential campaigns are highly emotional affairs.
Ending the war is NOW at the political center. Guess who is at the political center? Guess who is there because he is an ethical man. War is wrong. He is a moral man, war is wrong in the eyes of God.
While Dr. Paul was demanding the end to the war he accomplished
an amazing linkage. He has managed to link ending the war to the constitution and our economic difficulties the to the constitution. He is pulling these issues to the center.
As freedom slowly but surely moves from the far right it gets closer to the center where Dr. Paul patiently waits.
Miracle number 4.
None of this was intentional. The doc was just being the doc and then, all of sudden, congressman Ron Paul found himself ALONE AT THE AMERICAN POLITICAL CENTER IN THE MIDDLE OF A PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN..
Miracle number 5?
He has a bazillion dollars and an army of fully energized supporters who spend all of their personal time and energy getting him elected....FOR FREE.
Folks, waaaay too much sh%$ is happening for this not to be real.
Please continue to figure out where you are going to be staying in the Minneapolis area. Winning is about planning, plan to win.
We want it more than they do.

Vote on the debate
We are winning by a small margin.
Who are these Huckabee people?
The guy is basically a pro life democrat...is the MSM just giving him a lot of free publicity because he is pro Iraq war? He is not a conservative. His record shows that he is big government. I just don't get it. What do these Republicans want?
http://news.aol.com/elections/story/_a/gop-candidates-call-f...
Huckabee the democrats Choice
According to the Washington Post, Democrats see Huckabee as a easiest to beat in the election and now will be pushing his nomination as a strategy to win. You will see the media prop him up, They plenty of ammo to knock him down when the elections come around to win.
Strategy, it is the one at the end that matters.
I see Mr. Huckabee's supporters this way...
They're the people accustomed to making decisions on sound bytes.
They're the people who whill shrug you off when you attempt to discuss the issues and positions and past history of the candidates with them.
They're the 'moral majority' right, who think to themselves...gee, he's a minister. He MUST be a decent guy...
Have patience with them. Discuss the issues and his record with them, one by one. I'll bet, as I have found with those I've talked to that said they liked him, that once they know the truth about his past record they won't like Mike too much.
patience
really is a virtue.
i just got two friends to sign up for the tea party and join the R3VOLution.
it took a lot of articles and emails and youtubes.
there are a lot of good people who just haven't heard of RonPaul yet.
A LOT of people. I've met 2-3 per day lately whom I have handed slimjims to.
In Liberty's Cause
Copy Cats
They stole all those ideas from Dr. Paul. Huackabee is so disgustingly fake, he reminds me of Bush. Guilianni is all of a sudden talking about responsibility?! less government spending?! I'm only annoyed because if someone hasn't seen or heard of Paul until last night, he/she wouldn't see his shine like the other debates. But we know better, go Ron Paul!
mainstream websites
AOL's politics page has another bogus mocked article about Huck on it along with a photo of him standing in front of a mic with no supporters in sight, this picture is an absolute indictment of the stinking lie being spoon-fed to voters about his campaign. The truth is he is broke and the msm is giving him massive free publicity in the attempt to help justify the ballot fraud being planned in Iowa. The propaganda machine will be kicking up to warp 10 after this weekend as our money and success becomes impossible to suppress all the while the GOP and media play musical Huckabee and the joke is on Mitt, Rudy and Johnny Boy.

tancredo & huckster...
Is Tancredo trying to be Ron Paul? Maybe it's cause he's a one-issue politician and needs to steal good material from somewhere?
Did John McCain really say that he's the biggest free-marketer on the stage?
Did Huckabee invoke the founding fathers? did he just say they had a Revolutionary idea?
And is this election a conspiracy against Alan Keyes? I thought the conspiracy was against Dr. Paul?
Ron Paul wasn't even at the debate!
At least that is how cbsnews.com makes it seem. In their article on the debate, Ron isn't mentioned even one time. Incredible! Especially when you consider that he currently has 90.97% of the votes for who won the debate. Huckabee is a distant second at a mere 3.13%. Shameful.
Guys we have to focus far less on online polls
Its becoming the political joke of the season that Ron Paul supporters jump on every single online poll yet in the polls where it allegedly "counts" we cant gain any traction.
-----------------DO YOU REALLY WANT RON TO WIN------------------
Ron needs more than just money. Send this strategy to mail@ronpaul2008.com and also to press@ronpaul2008.com if these ideas make sense to you

Where is the poll? I'm watching it now, and I already know whos won.
I need to vote, now.!

Thank you for the link
I know we are being criticized for "spamming" the online polls. It just shows the MSM ignorance for calling it "spamming." They obviously do not know what spamming really means.
Since we are not included in the MSM polls (I do not know about you, but I have never been polled by any of the "legitimate" polls) and most of the polls I have seen do not include Dr. Paul, this can be a source of some free publicity.
When people see Dr. Paul winning a poll, it gives him some more name recognition. We need to grab everything we can get.
We need to get out with a strong (pro) Social Security and (anti) Immigration message.
These are issues that have an emotional impact on voters. He is being known as anti-Social Security. He is actually the strongest candidate for saving Social Security for those who are dependent on it. This is a big message we need to get out. I have heard people calling into c-span complaining that Dr. Paul is a nice guy but wants to kill Social Security. The people who depend on Social Security for their retirement income vote big time. We need to get these people on our side.
did Romney just say...
Did Romney just say that free-markets were responsible for getting all residents of MA healthcare Coverage? Didn't the governement force them to do so?
Tancredo - Concentrate on and defend the Constitution? Government shouldn't take care of you from womb to tomb...
Months ago, didn't Paul say that if we expect the governemnt to take care of us from "cradle to grave" then we can't get rid of the income tax?
And why is Keyes so mad at the world?
Why are they avoiding the question of who has the heaviest tax burden? and just talking about what they'd do concerning taxes?
Tancredo - we tax productivity... Wha? did someone give him the no-tax-on-tips slim jim?
I just hope Dr Paul makes some adjustments
Dr Paul is always consistent with what he is saying. If you have read about him and listened to him multiple times already then his answers on the debate make a lot of sense.
But if you are a first time listener I wonder if it is possible to follow him. He tries to say too many things in the small amount of time given to him and thus his answers become long unpunctuated sentences.
What do others think about his performances in recent debates?
CFR candidates copying Ron Paul
I think a lot of the CFR candidates are copying (saying) bits and pieces of what the good doctor has said in previous debates. They see his popularity growing and therefore are repeating some of his ideas. We have to remember that the CFR is a deceptive organization founded by Jesuit Colonel Edward Mandel House and Jesuit JP Morgan. CFR members will say anything to get elected. Once elected they will carry out the CFR agenda (World Goverment). I think Dr. Paul should keep talking about his voting record over his 30 year career. This is something the CFR members can not copy. They don't have a thirty year record that honors and upholds the Constitution.
http://www.mystae.com/restricted/streams/masons/conspire.html (excerpt)
"Colonel' Edward Mandel House was 'the British-educated son of a representative of England's financial interests in the American South. The title was honorary; House never served in the military. He was strictly a behind-the-scenes wire-puller and is regarded by many historians as the real President of the United States during the Wilson years."
"House had set down his political ideas in his book called Philip Dru: Administrator in 1912. In this book House laid out a thinly fictionalized plan for conquest of America by establishing 'Socialism as dreamed by Karl Marx'. He described a 'conspiracy' - the word is his - which succeeds in electing a U.S. President by means of 'deception regarding his real opinions and intentions'. Among other things, House wrote that the conspiracy was to insinuate 'itself into the primaries, in order that no candidate might be nominated whose views were not in accord with theirs'. Elections were to become mere charades conducted for the bedazzlement of the booboisie. The idea was to use both the Democrat and Republican parties as instruments to promote World government."

The Ron Paul revolution is coming through your town. Either jump on board or get the hell out of the way!!!
we were all
first time listeners at one point. I think his candor and honesty is what drives lots of people to give him a second and third listen.
I just this week introduced a friend to Ron Paul
I played one of his Youtube videos. He is from China, but a citizen now. He told me that he liked him. That he had a kind face and that he seemed honest. I think these qualities and more come through. He has a magic about him that touched me immediately. I became a Ron Paul junkie after one video.
Majic.
I have always thought that Dr. Paul looks like a kindly elf. We can only hope he will be able to grant a single wish, that we be allowed to keep our liberty.
rebroadcast...
Okay, I'm watching the rebroadcast, and I might be inclined to do some commentary...
and gag me... Why is Guiliani avoiding the first 2 question - and trying to SOUND LIKE DR. PAUL? Personal Responsibility... Gosh, he's stealing Austrian economics...
did any notice alan keyes?
People thought ron paul was a "kook". Alan Keyes was freakin weird. well maybe if i heard him more maybe,...but when talked about religion being a requirement in school. He scares me, not that im anti-religion. its just uncomfortable. Alan Keyes creeps me out.
It was a fair Debate for Ron Paul =)
Politicians are generally a
Politicians are generally a pretty nasty strain of sub-human. Tonight's show reinforced that.

"The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic..." —Alan Moore
yep EXACTLY what I was talkin bout the other day
This happened in '68.
We were "clean for gene", Gene McCarthy, a professorial peace candidate (sound familier?).
Bobby Kennedy sniffed opportunity and suddenly HE (previously a warmonger), was ANTI-WAR!!
Well, with that hair and that name, it was soon: "Gene Who?".
So Bobby stole the thunder, Gene was out of it, Bobby got whacked in LA, The Hump, Chicago, ............the rest.
Stay tuned, kids, and hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy night.
