But when surfing the Synchosphere of our minds I find sensibility helps in appreciating messages from (the only collective I can believe in) -- the collective unconscious.
For example, from just the first few paragraghs of the chapter cited, do these words resonate with any matters relevant to our DP community:
' . ... front of the house ...; ... dormouse ... fast asleep ... doesn't mind ...; ... all crowded together at one corner ...; ... wasn't very civil ...' ??
But, in the end -- the message is: the issue isn't resolved by apprehending the author's meaning ... but whether you apprehend YOUR OWN understanding !
So yes, I say, the meaning is about: Mind Control ... Self-Control ... which takes exercise and practice and plenty of room ( open space )... I could go on ... but so can you. ;-)
Ultimately that's the irony of the famous riddle.

... but, in the other sense, if you have 'followed' some of my leads you know ' where my mind is at'. At times I might merely hint at my conclusions, but I don't think I could ever fairly be accused of waffling or inconsistency.
Jefferson, I like your 'wear-it-on-your-shirt-sleaves' style. It would be hard not to be reassured by the conspicuous genuineness of your heart displayed in sporting bouts tilting at drag-ons that obstruct your fellow pilgrim's path.
You are a knight, Jefferson, questing for truth; but that doesn't mean I get to play the wizard... but If I did play that role I would say the grail of our common destination isn't really what this road trip is about. No one can show the short cut ... nor should you want to miss any part of the adventure of the journey.
I've been around so I recognize some of the traps and misdirections , and can't help tipping off any with ears to hear ...[ It has become my style to encourage sleuthing in a project of mutual discovery] but we each are on our own pilgrimage. So ... nothing heroic emerges if the odyssey is skipped.
How can I be more explicit: That's what this r'Evolution is about -- OUR transformation ... OUR OWN ... one at a time ... one by one ... then two by two ... each changing, adapting, ascending ... until the species is modified to higher fitness ... and it is up to each of us to keep an eye on our part only ... because that is all we can affect ... the ultimate aggregate effect on the whole is out of our hands [ so act and think locally ... and what's local for you is in view along the way ... right under your cool keen knows (sic) ].
As for geo-politics ... it's too global ... it will get 'round to you ... if you let it ... so stay ready to roll with the punches. But head counts are head fakes ... so always remember to pull your head out and duck even as you hold your head high [ that's the best heads up I can give you because I believe in open roads and easy riding ] ... I know deep down you also know the difference between the rubber hitting the road ... and swamp.
