Uh Oh, Ron Paul better not win the SRLC!

April 8, 2010 CNN...Political observers will be keeping a close eye on the results of a 2012 straw poll -- to be released Saturday -- which could be an indicator not just of a potential candidate's organizational strength but also of his or her reputation among the party's professional class.

Unlike the Conservative Political Action Conference -- an annual event geared in large part toward grass-roots activists and college-age volunteers (who needs 'em?) -- the gathering in New Orleans is considered more establishment. The crowd will include a mix of elected officials, top party strategists, political consultants and state party officials from around the region.

Let's hear some updates on how we are going to win this one! This is a perfect set-up!

OMG...it would be funny if it weren't so scary

"If Ron Paul Wins Another Straw Poll
Republicans May Stop Using Them!"

But I think the reporter was, tactfully, taking a shot at the GOP.

Chuck Todd is part of MoxsNews...which seems pretty pro-Ron Paul.

The SRLC is a neocon

The SRLC is a neocon function. They have always been organized. We Ron Paul Republicans have more passion than they do. That said, I see no reason why we cannot blow them out of the water and win the straw poll. It will be interesting to see how many of the neocons stick around for the vote. RP RP RP!

Lol

Lindsey Graham said in 2006: "George W Bush is the Winston Churchill of our time"... haha, what a bunch of comedians masquerading as leaders

Napolitano: "We need Ron Paul now!"

Lindsey Graham is the......

Richard Simmons of our time.

Well, all the other participants

are downplaying the straw poll, while the Ron Paul supporters are organizing for it. Everyone knows that's cheating! It doesn't count if he wins, and we can't have these straw polls anymore if the Ron Paul supporters are going to steal them by cheating!

OK, lemme see if I understand this

The GOP Establishment thinking:

If Ron Paul loses a straw poll, it's because he has no organization, and no backing

If Ron Paul wins a straw poll, straw polls are meaningless. Oh, and by the way, we just won't hold straw polls anymore.

Their time is coming.

what an unbelievable bunch of

what an unbelievable bunch of people we have running this country. If Ron Paul wins the polls, that's because the PEOPLE voted for him!

I'll be at SRLC Saturday to

I'll be at SRLC Saturday to see Dr. Paul and to hang out with fellow C4L'ers from the area(along with at least one I met tonight form VA). But, to the post, and namely the video where the person says "only RP supporters are organizing", below is an email I received from a neocon organizing for Romney.

PS - Isn't it fun being a "spy" against our enemies?

Subject: Calling All Socially Conservative Catholics, Evangelicals, Mormons, and Jews

Hey Fellow Mitt Supporters,

I’m the co-founder of an organization called “Evangelicals for Mitt” which is a grass roots political organization that supports Gov. Romney for President in 2012. Check us out online at

www.EvangelicalsforMitt.org

I’m writing because the Southern Republican Leadership Conference is the kick-off of the 2012 Presidential election, in New Orleans in April. “Evangelicals for Mitt” is trying to get people there who would vote for Gov. Romney in a straw poll there. It is customary for potential Presidential candidates to make an effort to get friendly people at the conference to help their showing in the straw polls, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

If you have politically minded friends who’d be interested in the largest gathering before 2012 voting, please tell them about this offer. So far, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, and Newt Gingrich have confirmed as speakers. Sadly, Gov. Romney is not a confirmed speaker — but all the more reason to show up and send him a message: Southerners Love Mitt! Here is the conference site:

http://www.srlc2010.com/

A good time will be had by all, and it’s always a great deal of fun to participate in the democratic process in a small yet meaningful way. In addition to voting in the straw poll, we’ll provide tickets that will enable you to get into all of the speakers if there’s room. Also, you’ll have access to all of the break-out sessions, and a large Friday night party called The Taste of Louisiana. We’ll also have free autographed copies of Gov. Romney’s book “No Apologies” and tee shirts there, and there will also be plenty of great food!

Anyway, please fill out the below form and we’ll get you registered. Also, if you think you’d be able to help us find people to go vote for Mitt in the straw poll, or if you would be interested, please call or e-mail. I’m attaching the info that I’ll need from you below.

Thanks!
Nancy

huh

?

He's quoting the text of an email from a Romney supporter.

I think the point is that the neo-cons are organised, if nothing else.

I got that email too.

Evangelicals for Romney? Do the "evangelicals" know Romney is Mormon?

First of all, if you get that e-mail

and you want to go, go for it and vote for Paul! The C4L tickets are discounted, these people are giving them out for free. Take a ticket out of the hands of a neocon :)
Heck, even if you're not going, take a ticket out of the hands of a neocon (its probably too late at this point). Second it is hilarious to think that "Southern voters love Mitt". I don't recall a lot of love during the primaries to make such a statement.

If I didn't already have

If I didn't already have tickets, I most certainly would have at least tried.

They didn't know G.W. Bush was from Conneticut...

They didn't know that Glenn Beck only joined the Mormon church so he could sleep with his girlfriend either.

The Bush syndicate is a bunch of carpetbaggers!

By more establishment, I

By more establishment, I presume that you mean, more corrupt, more committed to special interests and more hostile to the Constitution.

Everyone needs to realize that the GOP establishment, like the Democrat establishment serves the same masters. They got to where they are because of what they are willing to do.

The rank and file in both parties needs to purge their respective parties of the political prostitutes who are selling them down the river.

Someone needs to do an exit poll.....

Anyone here going?

I think they will annoint Rick Perry.

Glenda Beck won't be there.

Ron Paul will probably be under attack, in opposition to his raucous supporters.

I like your signature.

I like your signature. Reminds me of when I came up with 'DINO'.. dollars in name only.

A Rick Perry/Sarah Palin

A Rick Perry/Sarah Palin ticket could be a possibility, and would be a disaster for the country. I predict it wouldn't be much different than a Bush 3rd term.

Don't we currently

have a Bush third term?

Ok, you make a good point,

Ok, you make a good point, maybe I should have said a Bush 4th term.

Aren't we on about the 30th or so Lincoln term

All they have done is replace the puppets every 4,8, or 12 years the hands up their butts are still the same.

*May the only ones to touch your junk, be the ones you want to touch your junk.*

It's S*R*LC

.

I could not get past the article picture.

Like any press coverage about the GOP it automaticaly comes with a picture of Palin. As much as I love the Good Doctor I predict Palin will be the GOP nominee n 2012. The fix is already in. She is dumb enough to be manipulated(much like Bush) and she photos well.

Please America, prove me wrong!

You Guys Are WRONG About Sarah Palin

Man, I'm readying about the sleazy stuff Mitt Romney is doing, and then I see you guys bashing Governor Sarah Palin. WTH?

You guys are way off base about her. She ain't nobody's "puppet" that's for sure!

You guys need to check her record. Ever wonder why the worthless establishment GOP hate her? It's because she took on the Alaska GOP over corruption, sending some of them to prison. Others paid record fines.

Palin had the highest approval rating in the nation as governor.

Like I say, I don't get you guys. Sarah has endorsed Rand Paul, and frankly caught hell for it from many of her own supporters. She's even said nice things about Ron Paul over the years.

Sarah is very much like Ronald Reagan, the closest we have ever seen, and governed Alaska as a libertarian.

This is an incredibly smart woman who believes in freedom and liberty, and small government. She's an asset to the nation.

Plus, she is the ONLY one who is really taking the fight to Obama. She's not impressed by the guy one bit and doesn't feel the need to treat him special in any way.

Go back and study her real record, she is a solid fiscal conservative and knows how to make government smaller and more efficient. What she did in Alaska is nothing short of amazing.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand is as establishment GOP as they come. He's not a conservative in any way shape or form. He's a clone of Obama on many issues.

Sarah is a real leader and someone who walks the walk. Trashing her is ridiculous, especially with Obama in the White House and weasels like Romney waiting in the wings to be the face of the GOP.

We all need to stand together and make sure Obama is a one term president, and the establishment GOP is defeated, or it's over.

Sarah Palin is playing a huge role in taking down both Obama and the elite GOP. She's one of us, guys.

She's a neocon

Not one of us. If you'd been around more than a couple hours, Hot212, you might have noticed that. Most of us tend to have some slight prejudices against wannabe mass murderers. Silly of us, probably, but that's the way it is.

She'll need a VP nominee that

She'll need a VP nominee that can pull his/her load. She is too much of an unprincipled flip flopper to win alone. I think even her supporters realize she needs someone who is more trustworthy on policy to run alongside her. Being generally likable is one thing, but being so concerned about appearing likable that one always says whatever the audience wants to hear, just won't cut it, absent someone strong and principled holding the fort ideologically.

If someone like DeMint signs on, she could have a shot. Or Ron Paul himself, though i somehow doubt that will happen. If Rand wins in Kentucky, and amasses a solid voting record, I think he has great future potential. He has much less of an outsider image than his dad, and there aren't so many who will have to publicly admit to being wrong about him being kooky / extremist / unelectable / whatever.

On the other hand, if things keep getting worse, Ron's almost religious devotion to constitutional principles might come to be seen as an asset, so who knows.

That Palin supported Rand over Cheney's boy is a good sign; but then she turns around a campaigns for McCain. Although, if one is generous, that may simply come down to thanking him for bringing her onto the national stage. Didn't seem to be much love between his and her camps, post last election.
