Understanding Spike

A "SPIKE" pre dates news in the last 100 years and (the term and action) is still used today.

News rooms have editors.

They used to have a large (as in rail road spike) SPIKE on the wall next to the editors desk. When reporters submitted the story to be published or broadcast they first gave it to the editor.

The editor's job was to make sure it was a good honest well written news story and worthy to be published or broadcasted, however they have abused this power.

Editors would place the story turned over to them on the """SPIKE""" IF THEY DID NOT WANT TO HAVE THE STORY PUBLISHED OR BROADCAST. Everyone knew that if they dared put this "spiked" story out that they were "FIRED" and maybe blackballed from the profession!!!!!!

I am a big Ron Paul supporter and in my opinion "Ron Paul" is spiked in all "old spin media" at all times unless the news reporter is granted permission in advance by someone that has the power to ""spin and spike"" story's

Maybe in the future we should refer msm as the "spin and "spike media".

Sometimes the story must be out because it could become public knowledge that they were neglecting important news if it was not put out. The editor would rather not do cover the story, but must and that is when the 'SPIN' becomes important!!!!
