For all of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet,

namely carbon emissions, that bogus god you worship named "Climate Change" or "Global Warming", there is some really bad news that will be very painful for you to process. But it is my duty to pass it on to you anyway.

Are you sitting down?

Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since it first started spewing volcanic ash a week ago, has, to this point, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet. Not only that, this single act of God has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than can be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual reductions.

I know, I know.... (have a group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just the past week.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in the past week has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you helped move to Asia with expensive emissions demands on businesses... you know, the ones that are creating even more emissions than when they were creating American jobs, well that must seem really worthwhile now.

I'm so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our world for the next two years.

So, grab a Coke, give the world a hug, and have a nice day!

For a group of people that know the reality of what's going on..

you people sure do have your heads screwed on backwards. I am usually amazed at the intelligence on this site, but so far, not a single clear headed response to a purely politicized post? What gives? (I can't believe I'm going to do this.)

Climate change is real but it's just not quantified. There's different lines that people are drawing as to how much affect it has and there are other different lines as to how much is dangerous to various ecological parts of the world. If you don't believe me, put a dome over a coal plant and your house and go live there. You will probably live for about 2 hours. That's one aspect of climate change.

The global warming aspect, also known as the greenhouse effect, is the fact that CO2 (which is the main component in any carbon based combustion) allows more light to travel through it than it does heat. Since sunlight enters our atmosphere as light, it gets right through. When it hits something, it is converted to heat and that's more insulated by a layer of CO2 so it stays here. Combine this with the fact that it takes about 700 years to significantly alter the ocean temperatures and you get a set of data that's hard to read.

The problem is that many of the systems in our world are in a very delicate balance. For example, methane is held frozen under deep water pressure to only the depth that the temperature supports this. If you heat up the ocean, it melts a little bit further down. If you multiply that tiny depth by the massive area this covers, you get a huge volume of methane released. That gas is even more of a GHG than CO2 is so it accelerates the process even faster. There are many many 'positive feedback' systems like this and more that we don't know about.

Taking temperature readings is a harder thing to do that one would think. You would have to take a snapshot of everything in the world at the same time to be accurate. Then do it again EXACTLY like before to compare any changes. So many new groups are taking readings now that there's no way to correlate previous data with new. It's just not possible.

So we look to other things like ice melting, species response, water levels and so on. (Since water expands in 3 dimensions but it's held in a fixed container - the gaps between the continents - it can only expand upwards. Additionally, some temps of ice contract when heated which further complicates matters.) I know there's more we could discuss but I'll stop here.

The nutshell version is that it doesn't matter if you believe it or not, there are many other reasons to get away from fossil fuels. I thought you could guess most but I'll list them anyway. Foreign dependence, pollution, resulting wars, expensive equipment to use them and transport them, dangerous (think mines, oil spills or burning gulf wells), finite supply guaranteeing future problems? Any of those ring a bell? Ok, how about this then. The coal, oil, NG, rail, utility, power, shipping, and many other dependent industries WANT you stuck on their products. They're making a killing off you and you're towing their line for them. Three decades ago, everyone was convinced that the oil companies had bought off all the 100 mpg carburetors and now you guys are saying that the oil companies are gods? Nope, I don't buy it. These guys are right up there with the banks as far as corrupt political influence. There so many instances where they've gotten free royalties, land leases, subsidies, pollution allowances, grants and much more behind the scenes that the public doesn't know about. If some of the newer tech renewables were allowed to compete with the fossil fuels of a 100% level playing field, the renewables would be cheaper right now. Unfortunately, they've got the game not only rigged, but hidden. (Think of convincing the media how all our money is created out of debt and you'll see how hard this is to get the word out on.)

On to Gore and his clan. Carbon trading began from the energy entrepreneurs as a way to allow people to ease into any big expenses for converting to cleaner technologies. When it first became mainstream, however, it was immediately co-opted as a trading scheme. It was never meant to allow trading or bankers to get involved. If you couldn't meet your targets, you could invest in someone else's progress. One time, one chance. That's good because all these new startup companies using some new technology that an engineer invented years ago but couldn't afford to build, would now be able to access a little friendlier market. That would have worked fine and cost much less. Don't even start saying that we give too much subsidy to any renewable until you address the hundreds of billions we save the oil, coal, NG and nuclear industry in one way or another.

So here's where I agree with you all. The new game is to create a full out trading exchange, gamble with the credits, extract as much moolah from it as they can, raise the cost of all energy as much as we can pay for, cash in and look great because they're promoting "green" in the process.

I don't know about Al Gore but I do know he was promoting very reasonable energy changes long before he invested in the industry. ...and I believe he was harshly taunted to put his own money on the line before he actually did, so is he scamming to make money or is he putting his money where his mouth is? I don't know, but you don't either.

So, can we just go after the schemers that want to profit at our expense and leave the rest of the environmentally aware people alone?

This is a good one to send out

Thanks for bringing up this subject. Gore is still hell......

bent on this and so is Congress. Why? Taxes and lots of money is the answer!

The $10 Trillion Climate Fraud
Posted 04/28/2010 07:11 PM ET

Cap-And-Trade: While senators froth over Goldman Sachs and derivatives, a climate trading scheme being run out of the Chicago Climate Exchange would make Bernie Madoff blush. Its trail leads to the White House.

Lost in the recent headlines was Al Gore's appearance Monday in Denver at the annual meeting of the Council of Foundations, an association of the nation's philanthropic leaders.

"Time's running out (on climate change)," Gore told them. "We have to get our act together. You have a unique role in getting our act together."

You could enshroud the entire planet in volcanic ash for a year.

You could set fire to the entire planet for a year.
And these acts of nature would not extinct nature . . . nature would survive.
However, enshroud the entire planet in toxic Round-up herbacide . . .
and the nymph stage of life, the very beginings of the primordial birth, and the "autistic" nymph reaches out for life, only to find . . . toxic nourishment. Toxic extinction worse than fire and ash; further, because it is passed along genetically.
The seed itself is impregnated with poison introduced fraudulantly by unaccountable corporations enabled by the corporatocracy/bankers/bureaucrats.

Nano size: infuses itself into anything, anywhere with blind aim. (fifty percent of nature killed by "road-kill" from herbacides and plastics petroleum/pollution.

GMO: DNA set to extinct anything in path (unaccountabilty).
A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter or one-hundred thousandth the diameter of a human hair. Imagine comparing the size of a marble to the size of the earth.

The theory behind nanotechnology is that by manipulating and assembling molecules and atoms-the so-called building blocks of matter-in certain configurations scientists can create almost anything.

Would someone please

point out the first automobile that produces CO2 emissions..Mine always produced CO1..
Co2 is lighter than air & ozone, so just send a few space shuttles up & CO2 can escape our heavenly skys..We may as well pollute space, there is already junk up there..Ha Ha

hahahhaaaa.. Love IT! great

hahahhaaaa.. Love IT! great post. A buddy and I were talking about the very same thing last night at dinner.

Gore is not an "idiot". He is a business man.

Now if he believes personally in global warming...fine call him an idiot...but until you two sit down and have that talk...it's silly to think he is in the "climate business" because he "cares" about the planet.

yes Gore is an Idiot.

yes Gore is an Idiot. Business man? he has no clue what business is. He is a CON artist. big difference between being a business man and a CON artist.
