Americans rush to fill vacant jobs held by illegals
Submitted by Clint on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 09:25PHOENIX -- Job hunters turned out in the hundreds to fill recently-vacant positions at Pro's Ranch Market stores, where a federal audit led to the firing of some 300 workers.
"We heard they are firing a lot of illegal people, so we're here to apply," she said.
About 300 of the 1,500 total employees at the six Phoenix supermarkets were let go this week after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement audit found them to be working illegally.

Educate Yourself About H1-B Visas
The middle class is experiencing a classic communist pincher strategy whereby they are getting squeezed from the top and the bottom. From the top, professional employees with degrees and years of experience are being terminated and replaced with H1-B visa holders from countries like India. Computer programmers, nurses and professional managers are offered severance pay only if the train their replacements. Companies like Microsoft, who claim and lobby Congress because there aren't enough qualified trained workers, laid off thousands in late 2008, only to replace them with H1-B holders.
Thousands of trained workers and college graduates can't find work.
From the bottom, these potential workers experience problems finding low paying jobs because they have been displaced by illegals in the country.

It just says they are applying, it doesn't actually say they are working. One down side for an employer can be if you hire a US citizen it's a lot harder to fire a citizen and there are a lot of repercussions to firing a citizen once they get the job, in some states thanks to the government. You can wind up with a lot of employees but few workers.
I'm so tired of that
I'm so tired of that argument, when people say the country needs all these illegal aliens because legal workers won't do it. There are too many examples of legal workers doing the jobs to blow that myth out of the water. Sure, if an employer offers a two dollars an hour to work construction, its doubtful you'll find any legal worker who'll work for a pittance like that. But if the pay is decent, legal workers will apply.
This makes me VERY happy!!!
Its so funny that that piece of crap, Bush said of the illegals that "they want jobs that American's wont take".. I have always known this to be a false myth. Even the agriculture jobs were once done by Americans and they were paid more. Thats a good thing! Why? Because when they get paid more, that money gets spent in return, which creates more American jobs. When illegals come here, they dont pay taxes, they make less than minimum (dont worry, I am AGAINST minimum wage) and then it becomes a giant drain because the money gets sent back to another economy and Im not even counting the social benefits they get.

I hate the idea that businesses are
supposed to police their employees rather than simply hiring the best workers for the jobs.

I live here, what they do is cheat on how many employees they have hired and do pay the unknown employees under the table,As a right to work state they can also pay 4.50 or 5.00 an hour if the employee does not go to the labor board and complain,an illegal will not do this.

Employers seem to have little trouble telling me that I wont be considered for employment because they somehow are able top find out that I was arrested out of state in 1979, yet I am supposed to beleive that these same employers can not tell if Jaime is documented.

Were you offering a decent wage or some pittance that only an illegal (with no or limited taxes and government-supplied subsidies for housing, food, and health-care) could afford to accept?
And yes I DO know that, in highly competitive markets (and in the absence of enforcement of the law), once one employer starts hiring illegals the others are stuck with the choice of doing the same or taking a hit to the bottom line that may drive them out of business.

Here's what I have discovered with hiring illegals
One good well payed employee is actually cheaper in the long run,This is why.It takes two illegal aliens to do the job of one good employee,They have a cultural habit of learning only one simple operation of only one facet of the business.They show no effort to expand their knowledge past this one ability.One good worker with education can cover multiple facets of the business with the yearning to learn even more and can end up doing the work of two or three with minimal effort.So in the long run they are far more productive and cheaper to employ even though you are paying them more.No one takes the time to figure the numbers,Productivity is the key.
