Absentee Ballots are still paper

0 votes

It may be a bit late, but if every Ron Paul supporter registered to vote and we ALL requested Absentee Ballots, it would do a few things:

Create a news worthy story about the shortage of Absentee Ballots in your (as well as my) county. It would also raise awareness of open ballot counting and actual paper trails in elections (careful not to be painted as more conspiricy nuts) (...oops, too late)

It also would give us the ability to have our own paper copy and possibly know ahead of time how many of RP voters there really are.

I am sure there is a good reason why we are not doing this... my wife and I are, but not for any of the above reasons.

Be Blessed! Go DR PAUL!!!

Good discussion...

End result? Go vote, take a friend, or a few dozen friends.

Take care.

The confusion may be

that, in the instance of a close race, they do a recount, not with machines. Those in Washington state may be able to clarify, as their last governor's race was contested and recounted a few times.

I have also heard they don't get counted

Any way to check on this?

Call your county clerk,

I just did, and in Oregon all ballots get counted. Absentee ballots are sent out before the general election ballots (in Oregon we vote at home) since they are mailed to your location.

If you find out you will be out of town election day, you can go into the county clerk's office and request your ballot.

paper trail

aquire absentee ballot
fill out absentee ballot
photocopy absentee ballot
send via certified mail with signature required
your vote will be counted

i heard they don't get counted

i heard they don't get counted unless the vote count is close enough for them to make an impact.

but if there were a huge number of ballots

it would HAVE to make an impact. If anybody does this, photocopy your ballot before sending it in, and then have it notorized... if they try to pull a Diebold fast one, you've got a verifiable receipt of your vote.

That would be a

That would be a scandal...

The media will always report the winner after the polls close assuming that the absentees aren't enough to sway the election one way or the other.

If the media reports Romney the winner on the night of the primary and later thousands of Paul absentee ballots show up making him the new winner...that would be an absolute scandal in the eyes of everyone but us. In their minds we are already a bunch of ballot stuffers...this would only reinforce that (mistaken) mindset.

I mean c'mon...thousands of mystery ballots show up later and take away the reported winner to a candidate that's considered by the establishment not to have a snowball's chance.

I would cry foul too...

Can't do that here

I'm in Oregon... absentee isn't an "option".

Yes, you can!

Request an absentee ballot from the county clerk of your county. It is done all the time in Oregon.

Oregon is all vote by mail,

Oregon is all vote by mail, so you basically get an absentee ballot anyway.

Unfortunately I have to vote

Unfortunately I have to vote per absentee ballot since I'm in Germany right now, but I'm not happy about it. I'm not convinced absentee ballots really get counted.

ditto

I wonder about absentee ballots not getting counted as well. Sometimes, we overseas people don't even *receive* our ballots to begin with. This happened in the last presidential election and I had to scurry to get an emergency ballot in on time. That could have been the crappy mail service in this country, though, so I'm not I'm not willing to cry conspiracy on that count, but I do wonder...

Jesus is my Lord and my God, and Ron Paul, champion of all things freedom, including religion and the free exercise thereof, is my choice for president.

I'm not sure either

The may cet counted into the "round file".
