Logical obstacles to overcome.

How to get beyond this:

"I like Ron Paul but he is not going to win! My vote will be useless!"

Those who propose that any of our actions can be inconsequential are just ignorant about how things work. This is how I answer people who indulge in predictions about politics, economics etc:

The first job we have is to identify a desired goal. If we identify a desired goal, the only rational course of action left to us is to do something about it. By not doing something ( for whatever reasons) we end up decreasing the chances of our desired goal. This is the same thing as turning against onself.

Goals that can be influenced by human action are extremely difficult to predict accurately. This is because human actors are too complex to be reduced to their component parts and too self-conscious not to have their behaviour affected by the very act of observation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praxeo...)

We have little control over the magnitude of the effects of our actions but we can definitely direct it in the desired direction. The effects can be enormous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ti...

How do you answer these people?

Welcome to group dynamics

In the big picture, the media is playing the role of doubter and are upfront about it.

Some of the media pretend to be friends with Ron Paul, but, use their power to diss him.

Other media just ignore him. And the rest do EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO ASSOCIATE him with, LOSING.

You didn't invent this line "logical obstacle" stuff. It has been out there since day one. Hillary did it with Obama and "inexperienced." They have been flogging that duck since last year and it has worked.

The media have been flogging the "can't win" and it isn't working, let's find out why.

You mentioned human psychology in your post. Let's keep the psyche coming.

Human beings associate with the underdog. Why? It is from childhood. To be a kid is to be subject to parental authority....you have "no chance."

People grow up and maintain this issue with authority. If the powers that be look down on Dr. Paul and Say he has no chance......millions and millions of people see it and begin to identify with it...George Will has, numerous media pundits have and there is an unknowable mass of Americans who are secretly rooting for the Doc.

HE IS EASY TO ROOT FOR. He has all of the positive emotional associations.

He is his own man.
He is the underdog fighting against the machine
He si the outsider
He is the man from Texas
He is plain spoken
He ain't slick
He is passionate
He fights for what he believes in
He is a moralist
He is dedicated to human life
He is against war

Most importantly, ending the war has moved from the far left into the political center. Continuing the war has moved far out to the extreme right.

If you really are interested in an "argument ender" I suggest this.

"Dr. Paul will bring the soldiers in Iraq home to their families...none of the other candidates will do that. I am against the war because it is morally wrong and those young men and women are being physically and emotionally destroyed thousands of miles away from their homes and families."

If the folks want to yap about something after that God Bless'em.

If the Lord gave you one person to "turn around" and vote for the Doc that is what the Lord gave ya. Take it! Maybe he's gonna give the 1,000,000 "turnarounds" to the person who is in just the right place to do that. And maybe we just don't know. Mystery is cool...it keeps you tuned in.

Don't forget, maybe that "one person" is you.

We want it more than they do, when they meet us they figure that out and want to be part of that.

T

Unify

This is NOT a cheerleading competition!!

First, please ask these people if they really feel as though their "vote" for one of the establishment/status quo candidates will REALLY influence policy, etc.

After all, what exactly is meant by "wasted vote"???? If you are voting for someone that upholds your values, ideals, etc. you are essentially voting for you own integrity.

IF, however, you simly want to be on the "winning" team every time... I guess go on chasing the frontrunner of the moment, and become one of the "sheeple".

Herd mentalitiy at it's finest.

I hate to say it, but if you are trying to break through to people whom care most about "winning" at the expense of their own integrity, your job is pretty tough.

This revolution is about PERSONAL responsibility, accountability, etc.
Ron Paul is often the ONLY person to vote against various legislation, even when it is VERY unpopular........

LOOK WHERE IT GOT HIM!!!!!

Polls

Polls are definitely not reflecting the support Dr Paul has. WE still have some way to go though.

Polls MIGHT not be lying

Ever think of this..? The polls have been showing pretty inconsistent numbers, right? Well, we all know how un-scientific polling is anyway, but think about this additional parameter: Ron Pauls base of support has consistently grown throughout the campaign. The other campaign's supporters are not as dedicated. They have changed their minds, depending on their mood and the current news story(read: poll). However, as you and I know, when you are a Ron Paul supporter, you will never waiver, never falter. You are DIEHARD. That's why his numbers have been growing at a consistent (exponential!) rate, and it's only begining. We're starting to have dub-digit national "polls", and it'll only grow, while the other "front-runners" duke it out, we'll just collect their deserters when they change their minds...

O ye of little faith

.
If we look back to the Iowans for Tax Relief event in June, when Ron Paul audaciously held his own event and out-drew the regular conference, it was clear that something was up, something important.

Since that time there have been straw-poll wins, towering support in the grassroots and on the internet; and other campaign-propelling signposts. It is as though an unseen hand has guided Ron and us all along this interesting journey. Paul has not only done well, he has created a movement of concerned citizens who want to save our Republic. This is unheard of in contemporary politics: the revolution is real.

What is even more significant is that millions of people worldwide have awakened to the message of freedom and they like it. One has only to visit www.whowouldtheworldelect.com to see Ron Paul leaving every other candidate in the dust.

We have seen miracles all along the campaign trail, happening at exactly the right moment. The supporters - with boundless enthusiasm and commitment - will continue to grow in number. It will continue to be heartening and impressive.

So tell your friend the above and remind him/her we still have many months before the general election. It is easy to be timid, doubtful, anxious and tp give into the tendency to "play it safe". But that's no fun. Besides we have a Republic that needs saving and we are called to duty. That's our real agenda now.

STOP USING NEGATIVE TITLES

Just say something like "specific obstacle to be overcome.'

Are you trying to program people?

Please visit http://bestronpaulvideos.com/

The critical obstacle.

program people!
No I do not intend to, but why take a chance!
I like your suggestion. I will use the title you suggested with slight modification.

You can also do this instead.....

Send some letters to real Iowa voters that can help us in Iowa......we need help getting 200,000 letters out and time is short.....please help us do something constructive for the good doctor.....

Go here for details....

Keep the post on top please......

Of course he will win.

The only evidence against this is the polls trotted out by various sources. The fact that Huckabee was able to skyrocket in these polls from single digits to winner in a few short weeks, tells me that the polls are completely unreliable, and worse, may well be fabricated.

What could have been the cause for the very sudden rise of Huckabee in the polls, including South Carolina and Florida?

Sorry, I just don't buy any of this. I was traveling the other day, so I was exposed to the TV in the airport. I just don't watch those shows anymore. Not read the MSM magazines with their pompous, empty articles.

I also believe that this "what do I tell my friends?" type of post is run by trolls writing from a script. This is now the seventh or eight very similar type of posting.

It's a nonsense question. Yes, if Paul had no money and no campaign infrastructure, and no army of volunteers to support him in the get out the vote effort, maybe it would be a valid question. It's just a form of attempted manipulation that will not work.

Visit this link and have a look at the comments.

A great way of communicating with the media.

By telling the truth,,,,,

HE ALREADY HAS !!!

If voting could really change things,
it would be illegal. Here is hoping for change!

True Americans ................

Negative post

If you want to convince someone to vote for Dr Paul then send them to his website where ALL of his positions are clearly shown. Let them decide for themselves instead of wasting space on this website.

Good point 11thHour

Good point 11thHour, there are LOTS of people who agree with Ron Paul already. I say find the people who ALREADY agree with Dr. Paul -- there's no convincing needed. Once we make a showing in the primaries and caucuses, all those people who said, "Yes, but he can't win" will suddenly be saying "Yes! I'll vote for him!"

Um... I have to disagree... Its a valid question!

Welllllll.... after the emailing of bookstores, a number of replies were "I like his ideas, BUT, I dont think he can win"
simple and plain responses!
I did email back "if everyone who said the same thing to me would vote Ron Paul, that question would take care of itself" and more about the army is growing etc. etc. etc..
I hope I got through, but this *is* a legitamite barrier! We just have to do our best to overcome it!

Tell Them To Check Their Premiss

Not only can we win, but WE ARE WINNING!!!! In fundraising. In straw polls. In supporters. In enthusiasm. In ideas. In every tangible way.

Remember that as we move forward.

So Easy to Answer

If the person is leaning towards Dr. Paul or they support him but they think he can't win just tell them this...

They have nothing to lose! All the other candidates are exactly the same, both on the Dem and Repub side. He is the only person that is different.

So if you vote for Dr. Paul and he loses, whats the difference, one of the other guys would have won anyways, so in the end there is nothing to be lost. It not like the final vote for the Presidency and you are afraid to give it to the Democrats by voting Independant or something.

SO TAKE A RISK!! VOTE RON PAUL IN 2008!!!!!

But

We need to join the Republican Party in our respective states and become delegates or game over. I know WE CAN WIN, however this is the necessary step many supporters must take if it is going to become a reality.
If this doesn't happen at least we influenced the debates.

Exactly

Paulitician: They have nothing to lose! All the other candidates are exactly the same, both on the Dem and Repub side. He is the only person that is different. So if you vote for Dr. Paul and he loses, whats the difference, one of the other guys would have won anyways...

I've been saying exactly the same thing for the past month or more. It is one of those facts that is so obvious and so simple that I worry that anyone who is listening to me just won't get it. Not that this will stop me, though.

Ron Paul Can't Win

The idea that Ron Paul can't win is propaganda being circulated by the Old Media (our Ministry of Propaganda). This defeatest propaganda is aimed at Ron Paul supporters who actually believe that there is a difference between Clinton, Obama, Romney, Giualiani et al.

If you believe that a Giuliani or Romney victory is somehow better than a Clinton or Obama win, you have already bought into their lie. The other candidates are all owned by the same special interests.

I was this played out in my own state of Connecticut. We had just suffered through a governor so unpopular that he had to be rescued by the Capitol Police when he stepped outside to taunt a crowd of 50,000 people assembled to protest the state income tax he had forced through. Needless to say, he didn't run for re-election.

The man who ran the anti-income tax rally was a former state senator. He ran for governor as a third party candidate. He was popular and so was his message, but the Republicans ran a former congressman who promised to end the income tax. I knew he was lying, and so did many others. Unfortunately, enough people were so afraid of the Democratic candidate getting elected that they voted for the Republican. I can't remember how many people told me they wanted to vote third party, but the Democrat scared them into voting for the lesser of two evils.

The Republican was elected. He eventually served a year in jail for corruption. We still have an income tax in Connecticut. The state income tax serves one purpose, to finance corruption. There is no conceivable for that much money to go to Hartford.

The moral of the story is to support Ron Paul. If you don't vote for him, you will get the type of president you diserve.

This way

Answer the question with a question...

Is this a democracy or not?

The mainstream media is dead.

No !

.
It's a Republic. Beeg difference!
.

Try this...

Me: Do you know who was the most successful candidate in US history? William Z. Foster.

Them: Huh?? Who the heck is that?

Me: Communist Party candidate in 1928. Captured roughly 100,000 votes, but his campaign and subsequent vote total, although relatively small, were large enough to influence the debate. The New Deal was ushered in soon after, followed by 80 years of ever expanding Government. Many experts believe it never would have happened without the contribution from Foster.

Them: Zoinks

Me: Zoinks is exactly right. The odds that your vote will decide the winner of the election are about 10 billion to one. But every vote that a candidate receives gives incrementally more creditability to his views. That's the only way your vote matters. Therefore, it only makes sense to vote for the candidate that most closely resembles your own views.

Them: Thanks dude.

Me: Right on.

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

BELIEVE IT WE WILL WIN

Also, I will no longer hold my nose and vote against anyone....

Some answers I like:

1. As a child I was taught anyone could grow up to be President. Are you telling me that's wrong? Are you telling me your last name has to be Clinton or Bush to become President?
2. He does have support that is not showing up in the polls. Polls survey "likely Republican voters" that have, and answer, landline telephones. A new study showed about 1/8th of Americans now use only cell phones. Further, Ron Paul has a lot of support from Independents and Democrats. YouTube is proof of overwhelming support for Ron Paul that is not showing up in polls.
3. Another downer I've heard is that he is a congressman, not a Senator or a Governor, and Senators and Governors are more likely to become President than congress members. So I looked it up, the only President that was just a congressman before he got elected was Abraham Lincoln. So yes it has been done before and the last time it happened it was a very good thing! Abraham Lincoln was also the founder of the Republican party! I would say that if any man could resurrect the Republican party it would be Ron Paul!

the psychological component of Life

Just like anything in life, if you internalize or rationalize the idea that nothing can be done, then certainly nothing will be done.
