One Candidate Stood Out
Thanks for the videos. In my opinion, one candidate stood out amongst the others, and surprisingly, it was not Rand Paul. It was John Stephenson. Although I would disagree with his position on the U.S. supporting Israel and on the death penalty, I still think I would vote for him for U.S. Senator, if I were a Kentuckian. He fits my principles the best out of all four candidates. He sounds like he would be a great candidate for the Constitution Party, too.
lol, Stephenson likes Snowe
lol, Stephenson likes Snowe to be the House minority leader! He's a social conservative but not fiscally responsible. He's half way there and he's well-intentioned. But Rand Paul is the whole package...the real deal.
My personal overall rankings...
1st place: Rand Paul
2nd place: Gurley Martin
3rd place: Tie between the Dem and Stephenson.
and who are you..?
during his previous debate he said numerous big government things that were completely anti constitution. he also openly supported several examples of government intrusion of the market. i can't remember if bailout was one of them. but he said some pretty ridiculous anti market stuff that even got boos from the crowd during his own republican party debate. i don't know who you are but you realize this is pretty much a gathering place for constitutionalist forum. you're free to stay but your comments sound pretty uninformed, just wanted to call that out. btw misunderstanding us' national defense purpose which is to serve americans but not israel is a pretty reprehensible misunderstanding of our founder's logic on foreign entanglements. even ignoring your oblivion to his other stances, this one alone makes your decision quite ludicrous.
Watch Videos First, Then, Maybe Read Comments
Watched all six clips. Came away with a very good feeling about Rand Paul. Very confident about next Tuesday!
My only question...a tiny little question...why does Rand even bring up Sarah Palin? Other than save her Downs Syndrome child from abortion which will always be a good thing. What has she done for this country other than rally the Sean Hannity type neocons?
In the year 2012, absolutely no one but:

Rand Paul Seemed Asleep at the Wheel?
Rand was way to relaxed and placid? It's not clear what Rand was doing in the debate or what kind of campaign he is trying to run? Who is Rand Paul? Grayson couldn't have asked for a better present. It looked like Rand had taken some type of relaxant? It's some odd facial expressions that Rand showed in response to Trey's comments? Who is running his campaign and what in the world is going on inside it? The floor was his and his just sat there giving one sentence answers that were meaningless? I'm for the death penalty? Well, why is the death penalty a good thing? Even if I disagree, tell me why so I can give you some respect for your position. Maybe he just felt like he had already won so all he has to do is show up and mouth a few words? That debate was some type of insanity? Does anyone inside the campaign have any answers? I don't think anyone here gets what Rand was doing? That's not the Rand Paul anyone here has ever seen in interviews or speeches we have seen on TV or youtube. All he had to do was show up and stick to his original campaign message. Everyone in Kentucky knows that Grayson is a establishment yes man. Rand is rather socially conservative, but still a libertarian. We all know this is Kentucky, but that doesn't mean giving up the whole message? Maybe Dad can give him a good tongue lashing?
he's playing it safe
with several weeks to the primary i noticed a sudden change of tone in his interviews. he is just trying to preserve the lead. some of you guys really sound like stupid little kids that can't think for themselves unless someone teach you. and to think i haven't even followed politics that close besides ron, rand, and peter's campaign and even i could tell some of the must-dos to run a sound and solid political campaign with credible chances of winning as to NOT WASTE all his supporters' hard earned donations and efforts to say the least. have some of you actually succeeded in something in real life or do you just stick in your head in the cloud and talk while not being able to accomplish anything of real worth?
I WROTE TO GURLEY MARTIN AND...
He actually replied with a short email thanking me.
I told that old man the HE WON THAT DEBATE in my opinion.
He had some of the same elements that drew me to Ron Paul.
Of course he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning but I really liked his message.
THAT is the type of principled politician we need in congress right now.
Maybe Rand LEARNED a thing or two from him, but having Ron Paul as your father, you shouldn't need ANY more learning.
I see RAnd as trying to move to the center to appease today's voters.
But if you have followed Ron Paul, one of the amazing things is how absolutely consistent he is on issues.
He panders to no one and sticks firmly to his beliefs and philosophies (even though is has cost him) and that is what draws us to him.
Rand is slowly being molded into a typical republican politician unfortunately with several wishy-washy responses.
I hope this debate was a WAKE UP CALL for the Rand Paul camp.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
Make no mistake! Rand is
Make no mistake! Rand is going where no Paul has gone before. He's going to be Senator of KY!!! No doubt! If he stuck to his father's strict jargon he could only bag congressman or state legislature or mayor.
But he knows how to play the game and he's going to be one of the big time players. Every race has its unique dynamics and Rand has done well so far. Ultimately, he won't let us down.
I felt Gurley Martin won also
It so much reminded me of the early debates with Ron Paul.
pawnstorm12~I agreed with Mr. Martin also!
Granted..I've only listened to 3 parts so far..but I admire Mr. Martin over ANY of the others! ;-) I think I will send him a little note also!

Hello Brian the TROLL
Your comments are crap, why don't you just leave, everyone knows you are a fake trying to spread division.

AMEN
and thank you!

Who is REALLY the troll
Who is REALLY the troll supporting what amounts to a neo-conservative??? Think hard before you answer... then tell me the 5 MAJOR differences between Grayson and Rand... I wanna hear them... I do... really..
Dude, that classic
Dude, that classic commercial... Trey says it's impractical to ONLY support balanced budgets. Why is that impractical? I saw that older debate and I couldn't believe he was saying this in a GOP debate! I thought to myself...he must have had amnesia and thought it was 1996 back when he was a democrat supporting Bill Clinton.
Trey's got sponsors raising money for him like AIG! How can AIG afford anything since they are surviving on our Bailouts?!!! ...very shady! Also shady is the fact that Trey never criticizes the bailouts.
In the debate Trey flirts with the idea of the federal govt controlling school lunches! How is this part of the republican platform?? Talk about centralized control!
In this debate Trey discusses his support for the Dept of Education?!!! Republicans always stood up for dropping the size of the govt and ridding America of the dept of Education.
I came away from this debate with understanding that Trey is a proponent for centralized control from the federal level. Rand Paul believes in self-governance at the state and local level forms of govt.
The difference btwn the two is land and the sky. I didn't understand how you could say Rand is better than Trey but not by much? Trey is a typical RINO. For heavens sake, he used to be a dem! Hello!!!
I would say Rand is better than Gurley but only because he can articulate his thoughts better than Gurley, though they have similar messages. Gurley tends to fumble around to collect his thoughts. I don't even see Trey coming close to Rand or Gurley in all honesty.
There is one major difference
Trey Grayson getting funding from the Banks in DC..
Rand Paul isn't controlled by the Banks and that is the biggest reason of them all.

Now take a hike troll.

Rand Paul is no RON PAUL
Rand is disappointing because he is not the libertarian his dad is.... Oh well....
I will just keep enjoying Ron Paul as long as we have him on this earth.
Let Gurley be a lesson to the rest of us.
DON'T WAIT!!!

Ron Paul only got as far as
Ron Paul only got as far as Congressman. With all his star power, I'm surprised he recently isn't considering a run for Senate.
Rand having no star power, no political experience is gonna be the next Senator of KY. All you guys can do is complain. He's going farther than Ron Paul ever did. So I agree with you that Rand is no Ron. I think he's better...but only time will tell through is voting record, talk is cheap. Don't judge Rand so quickly.
Has it occurred to anyone
Has it occurred to anyone that Rand is doing so well in this race because he is willing to play the political game a bit?
Oh yeah, it occurred to me,
Oh yeah, it occurred to me, which is why I am annoyed. That is the EXACT reason why I am losing respect for him... what is the difference between that and the other politicians who say and do whatever it takes to get elected and reelected?
i dont want a politician who
i dont want a politician who is willing to play the game
i liked the old guy best
i liked the old guy best
Me too, and the truth is, if
Me too, and the truth is, if Rand was arguing that same message he would still lead.... he is too afraid to lose so he caved into political pander .... and lost my support...
Hey Brian,
Does it hurt when Trey puts it in or does he spit on it first?
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
Wow, when you can't
Wow, when you can't articulate your point you resort to name calling and nasty attacks... Real Ron Paul of you... NOT!
Dude
your history shows you never post anything here on the DP and magically a week before the primary you decide to have a non stop let's bash Rand Streak..
Get lost as#hole.
"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
-- Thomas Jefferson
LOL.. you been listing too
LOL.. you been listing too much to Alex Jones, so take your conspiracies somewhere else... you are one of the reasons some people think there are cooks in the Paul movements.... get nasty and personal and think there everyone who disagrees with you is part of some grand conspiracy...
You only come out looking foolish...
I think Rand did well, but...
Rand should point out that our Middle East madness is disabling Pakistan, which has nuclear weapons. I wish he could also insist that Pakistan AND Israel sign the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. I also think he should point out that Congress has a responsibility to enforce the Constitution and our operations in Iraq and Iran are illegal.
Tired and frustrated.
Rand got tired of Grayson always interupting and that's why he decided to throw a few punches himself. He needed to stop putting his fingers together while leaning back in his chair and sit up straight while talking. He needed some more energy and looked way too relaxed.
I'm not ragging on Rand Paul but I wanted to see him fight back the same way his father did. With cold hard facts and passion for what he believed in.
Keep fighting Rand, you still have my support. You have to beat them at their own game cause you will never wake up the sheeple if you don't speak loud enough with the voice of reason.
Part 5
Rand absolutely smokes him.
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
Which part is that again
Which part is that again where he "smokes" him? I asked several times now.
