Now 2-way race for Schiff?
Submitted by McClarinJ on Tue, 05/25/2010 - 09:43Former Connecticut Rep. Rob Simmons (R) is expected to end his Senate candidacy this morning -- days after he lost the state party convention to former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon, according to a source familiar with the decision.
Simmons, who represented the eastern Connecticut 2nd district for six years last decade before losing in 2006, had long argued that his experience in office made him the stronger candidate against state Attorney General Dick Blumenthal (D).
In recent days, Simmons has received something of a boost as Blumenthal has come under fire for misrepresentations about his Vietnam service record. (Simmons is a decorated Vietnam vet.)

It's worth noting that it has been months since there has been a voter preference poll in the Republican primary in CT and the only numbers for Schiff are from before he launched his radio and TV ad campaign.

Bushbots Are Pacing Their Floors Restless
Mark Belling mentioned on air less than an hour ago that someone in the former land of prescott(take a look at Wikipedia) had bowed out. Was he hoping it was Peter Schiff?
Its great to forgive, but that doesn't mean they qualify as "leader"!
CT is a 19th century dumpster
Connecticut is a XIX. century political dumpster. In this state which still behaves like a Royal Colony, the Democrat party is a bizarre monolith cemented by totalitarianism and stupidity, while the GOP is a senile, wizened, aged, parkinsons and alzheimers infected sloth no reasonable or respectable man or woman of leadership quality would touch with bare hands.
This entire place needs a quicklime enema to dissolve all the rotting flesh, beginning with the filth at State Central.
"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"
According to some (Schiff, Roubini, others)
the enema is on its way.
New Hampshire and Ecuador.
If Sharron Angle beats multimillionaire Sue Lowden in Nevada,
it should augur well for the Schiff campaign. The Tea Party Express and Club for Growth lifted her from 5% to front tier:

I hope to God that Simmons
I hope to God that Simmons endorses Schiff! It would probably never happen but I can dream dude!
What kind of fool supports Linda McMahon
for U.S. Senate?
What is this, WWE heads to Washington?

DP Warriors --- get over here!
I've long-said most DPers are warriors. The guts to rally, call, boycott, canvas, email, blog, confront, run for office, donate, on and on. Every day I see the fruits of your passion. Yesterday Chris Matthews said "I've been nice to Ron Paul, check the tapes." He says that because he fears the howl of the DP Warrior.
But warriors aren't always the best generals. I'm sensing most don't realize what has happened in Connecticut in May of 2010, and are disheartened by Schiff's 8% showing on Friday.
Disheartened? The exact opposite is true. As I predicted in Dec., Peter was dead in the water on the convention poll, maybe he could have done a little better if he politicked at Rand's pace, but he never could do better than distant third, not among party elites. He also had no shot of beating Blumenthal, I checked with all of my friends in this state that neighbors me.
Now, miraculously, Simmons is out, and Blumenthal is seriously damaged. Peter has enough money to make a splash, get into a debate with McMahon, and let him do what he does best --- show sheeple how Keynes kills and Austrians save.
My advice is take a breather, look at the other liberty candidates, but come roaring back to Schiff in June & July as only DP warriors can. Petition signatures (I'll be helping with those), canvassing, donating, inviting Simmons to endorse Schiff, and pressuring the Hartford News Media to air a McMahon Schiff debate.
Before May, Schiff was 1 in 20 to become the next CT Senator. Now I'd give him 1 in 5.
Will you ROAR again oh DP WARRIOR?
Speak for yourself.
Go Peter
Just imagine Schiff on the Senate floor, slapping these buffoons in the face with logic.

Go Go Peter !
Man I'd also love to see him on the senate floor. The rats would be heading back into the dark recesses from where they came. He is such an excellent orator.
Head over to his senate site and donate some money today. If anyone deserves our support it is surely him.
Schiff was very nice to
Schiff was very nice to Simmons in this statement from a couple of hours ago:

Speak for yourself.
Not to rain on the party
But I see some drawbacks...
1. Simmons and McMahon split the Neocon/establishment vote. Now it will be unified.
2. This could all-but eliminate coverage of the primary race. All of the coverage will be on the general election.
I will still be donating more $$$ to Schiff.
Simmons must endorse Peter!!
I think Simmons is not a big fan off McMahon after the convention. He must now show his support to the Schiff campaign
He probably won't endorse
since he has decided to leave his name on the ballot, probably for in case lightning strikes her.
New Hampshire and Ecuador.
Sounds like Simmons was in it to be a spoiler.
If he or MacMahon had dropped out before the convention they would have had a bigger problem snubbing Peter Schiff, the ONLY remaining candidate.
They also don't want to do too many polls prior to the primary. It might show Schiff gaining ground and momentum.
They want to continue to ignore him as a non-factor as long as possible.

The Virtual Conspiracy
Interesting thought. Schiff
Interesting thought. Schiff may be able to mop the floor with McMahon, dunno much about her other than her celebrity "status". Unreal anyway that they would pick her over him to begin with. Republicans will not get another dime from me as a Committee. His TV ad, btw, is great.
Maybe
but I'll hold fire to see what else he does. He seemed to form a deep resentment against McMahon and could side with Peter.
New Hampshire and Ecuador.
SWEET!!
Go Schiff Go!!
Just noticed Schiff's website
Just noticed Schiff's website is down.

Is it loading for anyone else? I hope it's not getting hacked again.

This is great news. I hope
This is great news. I hope Simmons tells his supporters to support Schiff, but I doubt he will. Then again, he is a decorated War Hero, so hopefully he still knows what honor is.

It's official! Simmons drops out!

Good.
I can't see how this is anything but good news for Schiff, who's been running as an outsider from the start. It gives a clear choice for the voter: affluent establishment or grass roots.
Mobile-Friendly U.S. Constitution
I agree
but then again Peter is not exactly the opposite of affluent.

Sure, he's pretty far from the median, but he can't promise $50,000,000. That's outside the bounds of mere mortals. She can probably afford to lose the money whereas Schiff is probably digging into his retirement.
