Thought this was an interesting video of a fisherman showing his dead catch.

WTF? Who rakes osyters in June or July? Oysters are good only

in the months with R in them. Only cultured oysters from controlled ponds are sold in any other month. Our oyster season here in the Matagorda and Lavaca bays opened very late this year due to rain (fresh water) in the bays. I could understand the shrimp fishermen having a problem with the oil spill now but not the osyter rakers untill next year in late October.

I suppose it would be pretty easy then,

to rake up some dead oysters and make a YouTube video of it, for some sensationalism factor, wouldn't it?

Especially if it's off-season, and there is some money being spread around, and you want to look like a candidate for payouts.

I heard

that the govt reported all the sea food was perfectly fine. I heard that today. Now who do you believe.

Well, they are still trying to sell seafood from the Gulf.

I was in Sam's Club on Thursday, 7-8-10 and they had shrimp that came from some seafood place in Tampa, Fla.

I am guessing that it was Gulf shrimp since Tampa is on the Gulf side of Florida.

I wonder how much of that they are selling and how safe it is to eat?

The Gulf of Mexico has a 4000 mile shore line. Less than 400

miles of it are experincing contanimation problems currently. Hopefully this tradegy will not effect the total Gulf area. By the way there are many shrimp, crawfish and catfish ponds in our area that ase used for aquafarming. Probably half the shrimp sold are raised in a controlled enviorment and not "wild caught".

I am presently in the South Shoals block and

there is NO oil here (yet). From there we will be going to High Island. Will let you know in the next couple of day how it is there. From there we will be going to Viska Knoles(south of mobile bay) which will put us right through the spill area. Will try to update everyone then.

Good find thanks.

I think if I was him I would pull my boat out of that stuff and clean it real good and try to either sell it or move to a different area. That area will not come back in his life time.
