Protesters Demand Public Inquiry Into G20 SecuritySubmitted by legalizeliberty on Sat, 07/10/2010 - 12:18
Thousands of demonstrators are expected to gather in cities across Canada Saturday to call for an independent public inquiry into how police handled security during the G20 summit in Toronto last month.
Organizers of the Day of Action for Civil Liberties expect 5,000 people to gather at Queen's Park in Toronto for a rally scheduled for 1 p.m. local time. Protesters in Kingston, Ont. will begin their rally at the same time at McBurney Park. In Halifax, demonstrators will congregate in Grand Parade Square at 2:00 p.m., while a rally in Montreal will begin at 8:30 p.m. at Phillips Square.
Rallies are also planned for Winnipeg and Vancouver over the next week.
