Texas, Travis Co. Deputy constable accused of beating, exposing woman at school

"...The woman thought he was asking for identification, so she reached for her license, the suit said. Furrs then dragged her out of her truck, the suit said.
The lawsuit contained three sworn affidavits by witnesses. One was from Lorena Sanchez, who said she was walking with her daughter from the school to their car and saw Furrs yelling at the woman.
Sanchez said she knew the woman and saw Furrs yank her from her truck so forcibly that Sanchez was able to see the woman's feet.
She said she saw Furrs beat the woman with his baton and dragged her on the hot pavement, while the woman was yelling in Spanish that she did not know what she did wrong.
Furrs was overheard calling the woman an ethnic epithet and told her she needed to speak English because she was in America, the documents said.

Another witness said Furrs was yelling slurs at the woman while throwing her around like a rag doll.
Sanchez said a few people were trying to take video and photos of the incident, but the constable and other responding officers ordered them not to, the suit said.

Jon Saucedo, a teacher, said he saw the woman on her knees and bleeding from her lip. His statement also said one of her breasts was exposed and that she was crying.

Witnesses said the woman begged Furrs to cover her up, and he responded by saying, "I don't care. I like it."

There is no way to tell if this is a true story.

You have to understand that here in central Texas we are in a very liberal part of a conservative state. It would not be the first time a false story was started by someone in an attempt to sway public sentiment. That having been said, watch the video of the five Austin cops taser an 18-year old little girl because she had the audacity to try to speak with them rationally and in an adult-like manner. Yes we do have local cops abusing their authority on a daily basis, but many times citizens are trying to set cops up for a lawsuit also. I don't have any inside information on this specific case at the school, however it would be best to let a jury and/or judge see all the evidence before ya'll determine guilt.

We have many people here in central Texas who are what I term 'professional minorities'. These are people who try to make everyone who is a different skin color seem like a racist. Here in central Texas if you are a white male you are automatically considered racist.

Certainly the court will

Certainly the court will decide if it is true or not, but this story is also not just a rumor. Obviously there was some sort of incident that went down.
When you say "...a false story was started by someone in an attempt to sway public sentiment." It sure has done well in finding itself published in the biggest paper in town, the Austin American Statesman.
I have lived in Austin for around 18 years and I have no trouble at least entertaining this story as true. It seems very much on par with Travis County law enforcement.
I believe this makes 2 police beatings in this general vicinity one week. One out in Hays and now Travis counties...and those are just the ones making the news.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

Why do police think they can stop you from recording video?

This is Soviet and SS style societal control; nothing less.

Every officer involved in backing up the officer that ordered the cameras to be put away should be tarred and feathered and run out of town.

This is not America.

I want America back.

Simple answer: they are legally empowered

to use force and violence against peaceful individuals. But you already knew that -- and that most people (who aren't clear in their morals) are ok with the police using force against peaceful people who don't fit into neat "good servile citizen" boxes.

I hope that everyone here if

I hope that everyone here if you saw something like this happening you would have the decency to beat the shit out of the cop. I know this has been happening for years and years now and I've personally had enough. If i see something like this happening around me you can bet that cop is going to be in worse shape than the person hes beating.

If a state has made a law of something

that they aren't authorized to administrate then it is void. Null and void. Sue their ass till it bleeds.
That cop should be history. Press criminal complaints, sue his ass and his supervisor, the judge she surely had to see and the prosecutor who surely had something planned (criminal charge against this woman) These people are bastardizing the law and waging a war against unarmed civilians, hiding behind badges and black robes. We have to fight them in a court room.
when the jury box fails we go to the cartridge box. Nasty but all this will come to a screeching halt.

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

forget the courtroom, you

forget the courtroom, you know all that happens is they get paid suspension.

Tyranny on an Elementary level

The article concludes, "Maria Jaramillo said her children who witnessed the incident are now traumatized and are afraid of police officers. She said when they see a police car, they try to take off their seat belts and hide."

Unless the community rallies to compel their justice system to deal with this scum tyrant bully with an appropriate level of criminal correction, they are essentially inviting more violent offenders to fill their ranks and threaten all who are not of their twisted criminal mindset, especially good cops in their midst who may expose them.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

that's assault

and deadly force can be used to defend one's self.

i advocate reasonable measures to avoid conflict.

but if someone is going to damage you, you have the right to stop them.

badge or no badge.

is this police*person* an Iraqi or Afghanistan

I mean, an "American" who was over there?

If this is true, this is horrific?

It's almost too terrible to read.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

This tyrant should be publicly humiliated in similar fashion as punishment...

This Kop was obviously way out of line

...and has anyone else noticed that Kops everywhere try to make people put their cameras away. I know there are even a couple states that have made it law, but most of the time they just assume the right to make you stop and just use intimidation to achieve it whether it is law or not.
Maybe there should be a National Film a Kop Day.
Every time you see a Kop just take out your camera phone and snap a picture.( I know, pictures aren't filmed, you shoot a picture, but we couldn't call it National Sh**t a Kop Day ;D)
If it happened to them again and again, all day long maybe they would start to understand that it's our right to take a photo of a public,tax-sucking official while they are in public supposedly doing the job they are overpaid to do.
Sorry for bumping my own thread, but thought it interesting that these Travis Co. Deputies made people(witnesses) stop filming the altercation.
