What Ron Paul supporters SHOULDN’T apologize for

Having taken the piss out of my own campaign for a while now, I feel compelled to write something in our defense.

I first heard Ron Paul supporters described as “obnoxious” when reading the comments of a Romney backer about the Iowa Straw Poll. It seems that the meme has been out there for a while, though. A google search for “Ron Paul supporters” and “obnoxious” produces 1340 hits (1341 once this post is catalogued), many of them similar to the following.

They call us wacko's

So now we are “obnoxious wacko's", has any one spoke about how people of such different views can agree and support the same canidate? The author of this post makes a great point about our passion, but people around the entire world are uniting under Ron Paul's message! The message is old and is still as powerfull when it changed the world. My point is simple, if so many varied people who would not agree on many things can agree on one thing, Ron Paul. How can anything we do to spread the message (within reason) be wrong? Kudos to retrorepublican to point out it is the passion behind the message that unites us! I feel if we continue to spread the Ron Paul message, the passion will grow! Great post retrorepublican, thank you.

fighting for a salary vrs fighting for your freedom

If you are fighting for your favorite team or player or for money you will not have the same enthusiasm as someone who honestly believes that Ron Paul represents our 1 true chance to turn this country around.

The thing is that I think that anyone who understands what is at stake and how limited our choices are would have to feel the same way that I do. I do not understand how the supporters of the other candidates could feel the same way. On the republican side it's all the same message at varying degrees.

The fact that candidates openly play to their base in the primary and then to the center during the election should scream hypocrisy to their followers but they don't seem to care. I do think that they know deep down at some point that they support a phony. At some point, they must become like the candidates wifes, disillusioned in private but ready to smile when the camera flashes. They are slaves to their past opinions and they refuse to contradict themselves.

It reminds me of this quote from Emerson

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. - 'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' - Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood. "

Bravo!

Excellent job of decribing the indescribable--the enthusiasm that Ron Paul and the message of freedom incites in us. The good news is that while people may be calling us obnoxious, others are wondering why the sparkle in our eyes, the breathless and passionate descriptions of our cause and the bubbling over and gushing that most of us are prone to. Those people will check it out and catch the freedom train. I am proud to say that my enthusiasm has turned several people.

The really funny thing is that the newcomers are usually more passionate than those of us who have known about Dr. Paul for a while :)

(Note that the people commenting about Ron Paulers being obnoxious also said that "we" were everywhere...LOL!)

It's very simple really...

It's very simple really... It's the enthusiasm that comes from fighting for LIBERTY! For as long as humans continue to walk this earth, the prospect of liberty will always inspire, motivate and excite them.

Thank you for writing this piece!

Amen, brother!

I wonder how long it will take the "mainstream" Republicans to figure this out.

Ron Paul 2008

They are starting to...

My folks (long time GOP supporters), received a by mail poll from the RNC or some other GOP thing. It did not include Ron Paul, so they wrote a note about Ron Paul and returned it without a donation.

This week they received a similar poll WITH Ron Paul's name at the top! SO they returned it with a decent sized donation to get their attention!

So they now know, RP support=money, RP hatred=starvation. We must reward them with money for good behavior, and with gently coercion for bad behavior. They are getting it!
