Remember the first fundraisers?

I remember our more humble beginnings... remember:

+ Fill the Quill? The internet barely noticed...

+ The "dash for the cash" to reach a paltry $500,000 in one week, and remember how proud we were, that we beat that record in a few days, that we ended up having the goal increase to $1 mill and then we ended with $1.2... some blogs started saying maybe we weren't another Chris Dodd or Mike Gravel.

+ Then came the 3Q results, finally we received a shred of respect from the OM, but only a shred...

+ Then we saw our expectations for this quarter, $12 million! It felt so unreachable, the "Lady Liberty" graphic was always behind, we felt like maybe $8 million would have been more logical. The competing campaigns supporters saw the number and laughed at our "unreachable goal"...

+ Then came the "fund the airways" (or something like that), and we almost reached the $400 k (or so) in time... there was talk about matching contributions...

+ A concept was born, how about coordinated donations, "money bombs" would be the term. Funny, it could be that we have invented a term that may be in dictionaries one day.

+ We fell behind our 1 month goal of 3 million, many people were gloomy, the other campaign's guys kicked us around for it. Said we'd never make our goal...

+ Then came Nov. 5! Enough has been written about this but still, let's gloat a little, we wowed the world, we made the Old Media fall on it's collective asses, we made Neo-con bloggers believe that, that sum of money could only have been funneled from Hillary's campaign or we just held our cash to only donate on one day.

+ Now, the money started flowing, for blimps, ads, everything!

We made history. It's time we make history again. This time our goal: To be in the Guinness Book of Records as the most money ever donated in a single day to any candidate in the world...

Even if the Tea Party were a complete bust, and we'd raise $0, we would still reach the $12 million dollar goal by the end of the quarter.

L E T 'S S H O W T H E M H E L L !!!

Yes, I remember,

When I looked at that Statue of Liberty with the 12 million at the top. I felt it was a mistake, I thought it would have been better to set a small goal and break it rather than not making you stated goal. Oh ye of little faith.

Thanks to all the grassroots for sowing the seeds and thanks for all the newcomers for being open to the message...Never thought I'd be able to consider myself an OG, but maybe now, with you, rustybuick, bob w, prospectorsam, johngalt and SO many others, we can lay claim to being ORP's!
