Rand Paul Touts Obama as GOP's Top Political Recruiter

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Republican Rand Paul is touting President Barack Obama as the GOP's top national political recruiter.

The U.S. Senate candidate from Kentucky who rarely misses an opportunity to criticize Obama drew chuckles from Republican volunteers Saturday when he suggested the Democratic president was working hard to on behalf of GOP candidates.

Paul is a tea party favorite in one of the closest watched races in the country. He says Obama's policies have angered voters who elected him as president. And he said they're now ready to send Republicans to Washington to get the country back on track.

Paul and Democrat Jack Conway are running for the seat of retiring Sen. Jim Bunning, a 78-year-old who opted not to seek a third term.
