nor do I really care about that show

possibly as much as $1 trillion. That's why he says we're in Afghanistan. OK, how much is Afghanistan's opium crop worth? And don't forget about the plans for the huge oil pipeline from Russia to the coast that would pass through Afghanistan. IOW there are a number of reasons other than crushing terrorism and bringing democracy to mountain tribes for our military presence there and none of them are warranted by the US Constitution.

Afghanistan has so many different resources... Just needs a "developed nation" to develop them.
