Ron Paul: Gary Johnson is best alternative for 2012
Submitted by TIAFE on Wed, 07/28/2010 - 12:54
What do you think about Governor Gary Johnson, Ron Paul's self-proclaimed alternative for 2012 should he not run? I personally feel like Gary could do great things for this country if he can get his voice heard people would like what they heard. Since there is a significant chance that Ron Paul won’t run it is good to explore alternatives. Copy of article: http://www.nolanchart.com/article7824.html

I don't think that headline is valid. Perhaps
you didn't intend to mislead.
Ron Paul and Adam Kokesh
would be my ticket.

Ron Paul 2012...
That's all I have to say other than that sadly this would most likely be Dr. Paul's last realistic chance age-wise.
In 2016 he would be nearly 80 years old which I don't think the country would accept.
Personally, I would be OK with it though because historically many Austrian School members lived well into their 90's and remained sharp.
Somehow it seems their philosophical ideals keep them very interested in life for a long time.
I feel Dr. Paul is healthy enough in mind and body to be politically active for many years to come.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
This Headline is a HOAX
or, at best, an inaccuracy.
From what I have seen and heard from Mr. Johnson
he is all good. Anyone have a different view? I would strongly support a money bomb for him.
A Republic, If You Can Keep It
I view Ron Paul as the man
I view Ron Paul as the man who laid the philosophical foundation for the next iteration of "conservative", one that abandons war mongering and returns to fiscal responsibility and the limits on government our Constitution describes, then there might be some hope for a new Republican Party. Otherwise, it needs to die a quick death and be forever buried in the history of bad ideas. Gary builds on Ron's foundation and brings his own strong materials into the structure. Drug reform is vital to the very idea of personal responsibility and smaller government. Left uncorrected, the police state grows and freedom diminishes.
Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...
Really great insight
I agree with most everything that has been said about how Gary's lack of name recognition hurts him as a whole and his feelings towards marijuana legalization hurt him in his party. Hopefully they don't BOTH run and split the ticket! I agree it is ideal for Ron to run since his popularity has just skyrocketed since 2008 and has a MUCH better chance, but in case he doesn't for whatever reason Johnson may have something to offer.
We Will Need a Money Bomb Like Never Before
We'll have to send him a record-breaking money bomb early on when he runs. Last time they couldn't ignore it.
My brother supported Romney
My brother supported Romney in 2008, and he said he would vote for a Ron Paul like Republican, but not Ron Paul. He thinks RP comes across as "too fundamental", but agrees with a lot of his ideas. I'm obviously not saying he's right, but, he would be added support to our ideals, and I'm sure there are more out there who feel the same.
I believe RP has the name recognition to win now, but there are a lot of stubborn Republicans who will oppose him in the primary just because they once did. They are set in their ways, and if RP was bad in 2008, then he's still bad. But a different name/face who's saying the same thing worded and emphasized differently will be given a chance.
Gary Johnson held the position of Governor for two terms. This gives him more instant credibility than a 10-term Congressman whom nobody knows. Most people don't know who Gary Johnson is. But with our already established ground support, that would not last long.
I would love Ron Paul to run. We all would. But at his age it's a difficult decision. I support RP before Johnson, but should RP not run, I'll strongly support Gary.

Sure he may be an alternative, but was he in fact endorsed?
As recently as June 29th after the Iowa GOP convention Ron was asked point blank if in fact he wasn't going to run would he endorse Gary Johnson and he refused to answer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sARgIeZpsDs#t=7m15s
so has there been anything more recent where Ron has in fact endorsed Gary? Maybe I missed it?
Anyway, despite the joking around it sounded to me like he's still very much considering running, hence the hesitation to endorse Gary. And that's fine by me. Ron needs to run again. Gary can run in 2016. He just doesn't excite me very much and has a very mixed reaction even amongst ourselves. If we're not convinced how can we convince the general public? Ron's name recognition and popularity is at an all time high. He has everything in place to do this right this time. Gary would be like starting over from scratch and I'm not too willing to do that for someone I only sort of support.
Ron Paul 2012
I spoke to Dr. Paul in
I spoke to Dr. Paul in January for about 10 minutes while attending the C4L Regional Conference in Atlanta. I spent about 4 1/2 of those minutes asking/telling him to run in 2012. I told how he had national support and a national organization in place and his message would be much better received than in 2008....blah, blah, blah.....when I was done he looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and a big smile told me "You know we are having one of these in Iowa and New Hampshire"
Ever since then I've followed him closely and the consensus by those closest to him is that he's running but won't declare in order to create a buzz about his candidacy.
Hope we are not mistaken.

Ron Paul as VP?
What if Ron Paul runs as running mate with Johnson? That would give the ticket name recognition, and take away the stigma of an old president. A lot of people are turned off simply by Dr. Paul's age, don't trust an "old guy" anymore after Reagan.
Don't beat up on me, I ain't one of 'em. Just saying.
Ron Paul Can Win
I've talked to sooo many people who surprised me by saying the would vote for him. People who had no clue during the election.

Would prefer a Ron Paul run
Would prefer a Ron Paul run with Johnson or the Judge as VP. But Johnson should run as the libertarian candidate as backup. If Ron loses the Republican nomination, he can support Johnson and create a strong third-party following.
Johnson would not be foolish
Johnson would not be foolish and run as a Libertarian. He would run as a Republican, just like Ron. I'm a Libertarian, and even I think it would be a waste for him to run on the Libertarian ticket. Voters just want an "A" or "B" choice. The numbers simply don't support a third party possible win, despite our wishes to the contrary...

I have no problem with Gary
I have no problem with Gary Johnson politicaly. I lived in New Mexico for awhile when Gary was govener. He did a great job. Gary has NO name recognition. He will not win. I honestly believe with every fiber in my body that Dr. Ron Paul CAN win! The reason I believe this is simple. Dr. Ron does have name recognition now. During the 2008 campaign I asked everyone I met if they knew who Ron Paul was. 9 out of 10 did not. I ask people today and that has changed to 9 out of 10 have heard of him. If you don't believe this try it yourself. I was getting some lab work done today for a physical and the lab tech started talking about the economy and how he and his family are worried about the future. I asked my standard question. Have you heard of Dr. Ron Paul? His responce was " Yes, I thought he was a kook until I started reading what he had to say, Now my whole family are fans". We have 2010 and 2012 to politicaly fix whats wrong with this country. It may already be too late. If Dr. Paul does not run in 2012 or is not elected God help us all. Things are going to get ugly.
Reposted Comment: Dis-information post... to be highly questione

This post has significant problems and contains dis-information. Paul did not say this. Why does this title infer such.
Contrary to the statement "...significant chance that Ron Paul won’t run...", THERE IS SIGNIFICANT POSSIBILITY PAUL WILL RUN!!
To run on legalizing hallucinogenic drugs is a false flag and will lose, and the only mention should be made is just what Paul makes... it is out of the jurisdiction of the federal government, so end the Fed war and Fed involvement. Paul focuses on the issues pertinent to freedom!
Lastly, I have met and heard Gary on several occasions... he is a ho hum speaker, who knows next to nothing about the constitution. He did not even know that Senator's election was changed by the 17th amendment, nor that there had been a change! He is to be questioned as to his pedigree and his handlers! Why he is even thinking of running is a huge puzzle. He is a candidate waiting to adopt a character. His record in his governorship is to be questioned, never mind his accomplishments as same. Check it out.
Who or what is the poster TIAFE...!

Dr. Rand Paul for president 2012, 2016
Rand for president in 2012... which begs the question... will Ron Run?
What is required:
Total dedication to the constitution; under the Declaration of Independence, and each 50 state's constitutions, of course.
Since people seem to be struggling for suggestions, why not?
After all, just look at the record of the usurper: Barry Soetoro, currently sitting in the wrong chair in the wrong room, in the wrong building!
As for now... Dr. Ron Paul for President 2012. When the house is vacuumed following his nomination, then we roll up the sleeves and clean out the riff-raff.
Imagine the euphoria following the dismantlement of the Fed, IRS, FDA, DEA, A(*).*.*. (put in your letter), opening up of all competition in any industry, cleaning out the prisons except for true moral justice, banning all lobbying and handouts, pushing welfare back to it's high level from where it descended - personal charity and churches, troops home and improved, friendship, trade, commerce with all nations who reciprocate...
Add your own to the list...
That is a Paul type presidency!
'We shall not take defeat for an answer, dismay for an anthem, or sorrow for our light. But we, animated by truth, liberty, and the burden of forebears and heirs, shall pick up our feet and raise our hands in acknowledgment of the undeserved Grace of Nature's God, without which no people should prevail over such beasts as stand in the path of liberty, civil and moral justice.
Such a mien upon our visage we bore, as did likewise inspire the downtrodden near and far. Such a response to each battle we effected, that the foe though great in number, sensed no victory.
In loss we gained wisdom and experience, numbers and stature. In the victory which sprang from loss, we secured liberty and justice.
Thus the enemies of the republic and righteousness alike did trembled!'
Gary Johnson is the real
Gary Johnson is the real deal. We should all be following him closely. I would support a Gary Johnson campaign as fiercely as a Ron Paul campaign (though I personally admire Ron more). Rand for VP no matter who runs for President in 2012.
