Grabbing a break from ER duty to give a random bump.
OK, truth in advertising necessitates that I point out that the Loess Hills pictured above are from a shot I took in Waubonsie State Park about 95 miles south of Onawa.
However, the Loess Hills DO extend almost to Onawa and the Loess Hills State Forest is only 29 miles south of there. Its just east of I-29 coming from Omaha.
Weather has been very nice for hiking and biking lately, but do bring insect repellent.

Yes, the event will include people from non-Ron Paul organizations.
That is part of the Iowa C4L strategy.
We are building bridges to bring people into our fold.
We aren't going to take over the GOP (let alone our country) by sitting around talking to each other.
If we neglect events like this, and our 2012 presidential candidate flames out in the Iowa caucuses, we only have ourselves to blame.

I absolutely love the idea of a Freedomstock. The proposed location is beautiful.
I just looked at the guest and speaker list though. I don't believe that members of Congress should be invited at this time. Both Bachmann and King toe the party line on foreign policy. I haven't checked Bachmann's record on our liberties, but it is clear that King has contempt for the Constitution with his votes in favor of FISA and the Patriot Act II. Having King speak would make a mockery of the name Freedomstock.
I listen to Mickelson on WHO Radio regularly. He likes Ron Paul, is good on liberty issues, but his ideas on foreign policy are opposite to Ron Paul's. Therefore it sounds like this could become a love fest for the war machine. Except for Drew Ivers, the rest of the guests are unknown to me.
What about inviting Damon Vrabel, the Judge, and Aimee Allen? I also would be thrilled to hear the author of The Matrix read his poem to a crowd of liberty lovers.
This idea has so much potential. Just think about the energy that was at the R4R. Remember how the bleachers vibrated? Why blow this fantastic idea with a cast of neocons?
I agree, if it's really going to be a Freedomstock,
it should be all liberty people, not the line straddlers; and anyone who voted for FISA & the Patriot Act is not for freedom, no matter what their rhetoric. there was a bill just recently that Bachmann just totally caved on too.

I don't like the idea of Steve King coming, or any politician for that matter, unless it is Ron Paul. The GOP is infiltrating the liberty movement with it's neocon warmongers. No politicians, no Faux Nooz or others. Good that C4L and Oath Keepers are involved. I would love to come up from Atlanta with a convoy but not if we are going to hear any party propaganda.

The biggest concern I'd have is that so many events get hijacked by special interests. If the organizers truly want to advance freedom, they must think carefully about their publicity, speakers, even performers and possible vendors.
All should be informed that the event will be most effective if kept positive and inclusive of all the spectrum of the freedom movement who have goodwill and tolerance for differences.
It would be awfully easy for an event in memory of 9-11 to attract anti-muslims, the various racial bigots, regigious intolerants, etc. The more successful the event, the more press coverage, the easier it is for opponents of freedom to seize on the minority displays of hatred and intolerance. Those are always what the corporate media focus on, not the heart of the event.

So because there are corporate farmers who accept farm subsidies we're supposed to boycott Iowa?!? (Let the state that is without sin cast the first stone.)
As someone who LIVES in this area, I can tell you that farmers didn't vote for Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, or Fred Thompson because they liked farm subsidies. They voted for them because they (like almost every other American in 2008) didn't know they had a choice. The MSM and Ron Paul's low profile campaign here saw to that.
Actually, in all modesty I would say that Iowa is one of the states where the Campaign for Liberty is making some of its greatest strides.
And anyone who has any hopes of seeing a major party (i.e. GOP) libertarian presidential candidate in 2012 better HOPE that we stay on a roll here.
