Reagan insider: 'GOP destroyed U.S. economy'
Submitted by wafflehutguy on Thu, 08/12/2010 - 11:18"How my G.O.P. destroyed the U.S. economy." Yes, that is exactly what David Stockman, President Ronald Reagan's director of the Office of Management and Budget, wrote in a recent New York Times op-ed piece, "Four Deformations of the Apocalypse."
Get it? Not "destroying." The GOP has already "destroyed" the U.S. economy, setting up an "American Apocalypse."
spot on article....

GDP (spent this year) vs "National Debt" (out of thin air).
Idiots.
"Thin Air Pay Masters? Paying Themselves on Your Good Credit?"
Why is a measure of spending (GDP) weighed against "thin air (legal tender creation)?" Since 1913, have we no better measure?
Is Debt (Fed Reserve Notes borrowed into existence) really 90% of GDP (a measure of annual spending those debt notes)?
Is the ratio of annual spending crossing 90% of balance due "out of thin air?"
Who is
$13 Trillion debt coming due?
For what? Crossing a river between France & Germany?

"Don't let your schooling interfere with your education."
Is someone trying to hurt you economically, pretending it is for your own good wealth?
Audit the Fed: Before they audit you or anybody else.
End the Fed: Before they end you. Loaning you blind, since 1913.

GDP (spending measure) vs Debt (spent measure). So what?
David Stockman, President Reagan's Budget Director could have written a much more revealing story himself. But, he didn't. Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch Economist, should be ashamed. But he is not.
We have real problems facing our American Republic. Blathering on about whether bankers will get their "Pound of Flesh" (see Merchant of Venice" - Shakespeare for details) may be in their minds as important. Just look them in the eye, ask not what they have done for their country. Ask what they have done to their country. Have Stockman & Farrell tell what they know about the creation of legal tender "out of thin air." Maybe they could interview legal tender bankers for perspective. Perhaps the Fed will realize that they must submit an audited accounting of their "National Debt" funding before receiving their "Pound of Flesh" in payment.
From one view Stockman was a hero. Reigned in American government budgets. In tough times, he scurried about and pressed for dramatic budget freezes. A call sounded throughout the land, "Hold the Line! Cap the budgets! No more spending! Everyone... zero fat budget!"
Amazing! He got it. He won! Stopped all spending increases cold. Man of the hour!
Ok, ok... He froze inflation adjusted dollars. That counts as victory, doesn't it? Due to inflation pegging the meter at about 15% per year. Well? Volcker, Fed Chairman (big cigars & black magic) had a secret plan. Stockman locked in budgets in nominal dollars; meanwhile, at the Fed... Volcker "Give Me the Deed to Your Ranch!" kicked our economy in the dumper. Bank to Bank 20% prime interest rate pegged a meter of its very own... Stockman ended up giving away the largest budget increase in modern times. A hero (in the news) & a villain (in reality).

GOP culpability in American national suicide
President Reagan (and the embryonic neocons infesting his government) indeed have a lot to answer for in preparing the bloody mess whose consequences we are facing today! From his nannystate prohibitionism "war-on-drugs" to his strengthening of NATO just as the first "evil empire" was clearly breaking up, from his appointing Federal judges whose understanding of the Constitution was (to put it mildly) extremely unfriendly to individual rights and local sovereignty to his record budget deficits fueled by military boondoggles, the GOP was a disaster in the last quarter of the twentieth century.
However, it was the Dumbercrats who set the stage for the warfare-welfare State which is now careening into bankruptcy. From FDR and WWII, to the Kennedy-Johnson New Frontier, to Nixon's unilateral withdrawal from what little remained of the Gold standard (accompanied by peacetime wage and price controls worthy of any centrally "planned" economy) enthusiastically supported by Dems, the push by "progressives" for all manner of environmental craziness and equally absurd and shamelessly divisive racial and gender "equal opportunity policies", which Republicans complied with, the Democrats did everything possible to lay all of the foundations for GOP destructiveness!!
BOTH parties played an approximately equal role in the creation of the current bloody mess both in the USA and around the world! Both should be held equally accountable!
PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

I think the Republicans were slightly less responsible...
Since they attempted to stop the GOP...which got infiltrated by the far left fascists from John Bolton on down after the Reagan era. Good summary though.
Even Reagan himself attempted to seize control of this problem. Bush Senior and Goldman Sachs are literally foaming at the mouth liberal fascists.
How could Reagan be blamed for having a gun to his head? The whole CFR / Goldman Sachs globalist elite brought us this crisis, through the Democrats LLC and their lock-step friends in the GOP "Grand ol Pissants" like Lindsay Graham. When has McCain or Graham or even good ol' Spector actually voted against the Democrats?
Never, except when it was a political ploy. That's how they allowed Obama to triple the deficit!!
good summation - thanks

I remeber during the Reagon
I remeber during the Reagon years my Conservative, blue collar friends saying what Reagan was doing was all wrong. Now, I can see it so clearly I am ashamed I ever supported him.
