Robert's Rules of Order - Wikipedia
“Robert's Rules of Order is the short title of a book containing rules of order intended to be adopted as a parliamentary authority for use by a deliberative assembly.

Currently in its tenth edition and published under the name Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (and often referred to using the initialism RONR) it is the most widely used parliamentary authority in the United States,[1] according to the National Association of Parliamentarians, a professional association of approximately 4,000 members which provides education and accreditation certifications for parliamentarians.”

Gerald Smith
Gerald Smith was the first sigma appointed as national director of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity serving from 1978 until 1990. During its transition from a part time organization to a full time organization, its structure changed from a bottom up organization to a top down organization. He stated, “Parliamentary procedure is the process or running meetings that was taught when I came into the fraternity at every level - state, region, and national conclave. When I was executive director, you could not go to a conclave and not have multiple sessions in the parliamentary procedure because that taught you how to run your meetings; and in fact, at the conclave, the delegates are supposed to be in charge, not as things are done today, where the board is in charge.” (Source 1, 2)

His purpose for producing this training series was to educate the delegates in parliamentary procedure so they would be able to take control of their fraternity as well as other African American organizations of which they where members.

“The OK GOP Convention was a complete fiasco yesterday morning and into early afternoon. Multiple rules were broken and pleas to follow the rules were IGNORED and DENIED. The delegates were NOT verified and there was at least 84 votes MORE than there were delegates. Chair refused multiple pleas to re-verify the delegates and do a recount. The convention was eventually adjourned by the Chairman WITHOUT a two-thirds vote to do so which made the adjournment illegal and void. The delegates who did not leave went out and met in the parking lot and scrapped everything from the morning and started over correctly following all rules and procedures.” (Video comment says there were problems processing the video.)

Does anyone know how to get a complete list of the delegates for each county in Colorado? I am thinking that some of us in the CO delegate will try to reach out to them via brochures and other meet and greets before the convention. I am a precinct captain and we have a meeting next wednesday but I wasn't sure if that position gives me access to all the delegates outside my precinct.

BIG Bump!

Thanks for posting this! I've been hooked on it for a week!

I'm a serial entrepreneur and liberty activist from Texas!

I'm glad you find

it to be of some use. The post was created a while ago with the thought that it might be needed this election cycle. I wasn't sure if the campaign would have its own training sessions for this so I went through every Robert's Rules video on youtube at the time and these were the best videos I could find.

Now seems like a good time

to bring this post back seeing as Dr. Paul has just announced his candidacy. I'm not sure what the deadline is in each state for registering as a Republican.

Bookmarked and bumped

front page info.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

Is There

Is there any video of how the republicrats screwed the Revolution last go around (ex: South Texas, Nevada State Convention, etc...)?

We need to study their tactics for the upcoming selection cycle.

Regarding Palin: I believe we are watching in real time the rise of the third party, which will be controlled by the powers that be from its' inception.

Next Scam: "Cash For Cash"

I've started collecting videos for a new section on this topic.

Here is a sample:
The Nevada State Convention - Part 1

More will be added to the OP later. It's a work in progress.

Videos from the Texas, Nevada, Washington, Missouri, and Kentucky State Conventions have been added to the post.

well done, all help is

well done, all help is greatly appreciated.

Stillwater, we are going to be launching a site www.delegatesfordummies.com you want to help us with content?

I am also going to be doing a live show soon to help educate and answer questions on Roberts rules. we have hours of audio from the last election we will be posting soon too.

What type of content

were you thinking I could contribute?

One of my reasons for creating this post was to interest a larger group of people in learning Robert's Rules of Order who may not necessarily go on to be delegates, but who might be confident enough to get involved in smaller local community groups or their political party machine. This could be a kind of incubation period where they could practice the basics of parliamentary procedure. It might then be an easier jump to becoming a delegate for those who don't want to go cold turkey.

Another, was to create a one stop shop with different types of media (audio or visual) for those who learn better in different ways or with different teaching methods.

Hopefully, the material wasn't too contradictory. I tried to be selective given my limited exposure to Robert's Rules of Order.

It's missing the chapter

on protocol for WWF smackdown. How am I supposed to know when to use a metal folding chair or microphone stand?

Nope, I believe the protocol

covers your particular situation as well. It goes as follows:

First, you "stand", then the "chair" recognizes you, then you make a "motion". If you find you are in error then you either "withdraw" or you make a "subsidiary motion" to "limit" or "extend" your reach until contact is made with your opponent. If you get hit then you can always "appeal the decision of the chair."

Well Played

This thread has epic potential.
