I posted this... I mean major as in very very ridiculous, not mainstream. I really shouldnt have posted it! Sorry everyone, this is a very positive day and that blog amounts to nothing.
"its negative... and we don't need it. I think the poster had good intentions in posting it, so they shouldn't be reprimanded. but I don't think this shouldn't be up on the forums. It doesn't accomplish anything positive, and has the potential of scaring away first time visitors/ gives the wrong first impression of Dr. Paul.
Theres nothing we can do or say to the individual who wrote this horrible article, and theres little we can do to repair any damage this article may cause to ron paul by dealing with the article directly. The only way to win people over to ron paul is through his message, not by complaining about bad press. This post serves no good purpose, please remove this thread so we can focus on the important things."
It was in reference to the LA Riots of 1993...
Paraphrased "The riots were welfare payments without the middleman".
I'm telling you this Ron Paul guy is a friggin' GENIUS!!!
He tells it like it is, bro!!!

...this thread is having on a lot of people. It is not necessary for me to speculate on the possible good or bad intentions of the poster because the only thing that matters is whether this thread is raising the morale of the readers or is it lowering their morale. So even if the poster has good intentions and thinks that this thread will make people mad so they will "donate more" I say that is doubtful and the negative effect on most readers out weighs the possible good effect it might have.
Lets help each other keep our morale up and there'll be more donations that way!
If you agree with me do what I just did and flag this thread as offensive. You'll find the "Flag as offensive" button above just after the end of the original post. Then if the moderator, Michael, agrees that the thread is not appropriate for the DP forum he will remove it.

This is an Editorial on what this guy thinks, it may be wrong and misguided but he has the right. Consider it a MAJOR hit piece if ABC or CNN does a report based on this guy's article. The comments on this piece below is proof enough that this guy is wrong.
In fact, I'd like to thank Redstate, Dailykos, and other sites that work so hard at smearing Ron Paul for making themselves look foolish and attracting more people to Ron Paul's campaign.
Care to explain how this irrelevant crap is, in any way, "MAJOR" ???
I await your response or decision to retitle the thread "irrelevant little blog criticism."

Most of this is just flat-out wrong. Its not unusual for congressmen to write newsletters to their constituents, that's what his newsletter was. It didn't go to nutjobs, that's just character assassination. He had a staffer write a lot of stuff in the newsletter and he apparently made a racist statement in one of the issues. Ron Paul apologized and repudiated it immediately. No skeleton, no racism and no incompetence-that's totally overblown. Ron Paul has made many public statements against racism over many years of public life. His record is clean and they are not likely to find any real skeletons in his closet. That's why they are going to make up stuff like this based on whatever tiny shred they can find.
I've been following the campaign since only the middle of last month and I already knew about this non-issue and how it was handled.

I never bother going to that website -- if I see a piece from OpEd News I skip it. It's junky trash.
Also you should just do what Hillary, Obama, and Richardson do when it is pointed out that they have ties to real racists and have even attended their functions: JUST IGNORE IT..
Folks, try to have some perspective. If a legitimate media outlet is causing trouble, it's understandable that we should pay attention.
But we have to stop getting bent out of shape over every third-rate blogger looking for attention and traffic to make a few bucks with AdSense clicks.
NewsWithViews, WorldNetDaily, OpEdNews...these are all glorified publishing mills. Just about anyone can crank nonsense out from these sites.
If we don't respond, guess what happens? Nothing. We're the only ones paying attention to crap like that. The tree doesn't really fall in the woods if no one sees it.

Having been through worse with the PJB campaign I can tell you that we are lucky there is nothing anyone can say to smear Ron -- it's all petty junk. And ignoring it is the best thing to do instead of plastering it all over this site. I try to keep my articles positive, and the titles something I would WANT to be picked up in Google. We understand so much about how the Old Media spins things, but do we put that knowledge to work for ourselves? We should!

I love these kind of articles... They take a tidbit of information like this, and use it to completely defile his candidacy. Even if the racism stuff is true, does that mean we should elect someone who will continue the war, continue our doomed economic policy, continue our brainwashing educational system, and continue taking away our liberties?
I just don't understand why people will turn away from such a great candidate over such a small issue... And personally I do not believe Ron Paul is a racist.

This accusation is paper thin and old/worn out. When I first heard the accusations that Ron Paul was a racist I dug into the archives to try to find out if it was true or not. I mean, if I'm opening my mind to objectively question and doubt the BS that government and the media have been shoving down my throat all my life how could I be closed minded about such issues about Ron Paul.
So I dug.
What's funny is there is a reprint of the article in one of the newspapers in Houston. It's posted there from back in the 90s. I searched for the name of the paper with the day the article was posted and the most amazing thing happened in my history with the internet. The FIRST search went to EXACTLY what I was looking for. That was odd since the archives contain all the news stories that it would take me to that story just from searching for that day. So then I looked up who owned the Houston Chronicle (I think that's the one) and it's Hearst Argyle media. Hmm.
Then I did some other searching about the issue and it turns out that Dr. Paul says he didn't write it, that a ghost writer, or a member of his staff would write the newsletters. The fact of the matter is he has repeatedly addressed the issue to the satisfaction of many other media outlets. They believed the story because the article bore no resemblance to anything the Dr. has ever written or said before or after.
Oh, and one last thing. Dr. Paul is from Pittsburgh, PA. He just happens to be a congressman for Texas. He's not from there.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't finish the article. It wasn't worth my time, it's not that I'm afraid to hear something bad about Ron Paul, I just couldn't get past the author's obvious problems (I'm not sure what they are, but then again I'm not a shrink). I just found it hard to take him seriously.
Interesting, and not worth me writing him to comment.

yeah...I am not sure what the author's problem is either but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce....I have read that article more than once and to me, the remarks seem to have no intention of being racist at all. Every time I see this lame reference/hit, I am reminded of how many people out there don't do the proper research

Deletion of thread
Since the original has been removed by the poster, would anyone object to my deleting this whole thread? Because the comments would go with it.
We should not take some stupid blogger and turn him into a MAJOR hit piece when he amounts to 0.
