Very impressed with

Very impressed with John..those were all great speakers. We need to grow!

What happened at the Nullify

What happened at the Nullify Now Rally in Fort Worth TX? Anyone show up? Are the neocons the only ones in the Tea Party movement that can raise a crowd? The apparent lack of interest and coverage is disturbing to say the least.

Both Moses and...

Paul were not eloquent speakers but their message still resonates with millions.
DON'T change a thing Dr. Paul! Go raw or go home:)

Ron Paul goes to bat for liberty, peace and freedom in S.F. rally for John Dennis
By Punditty
Sept. 5, 2010

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) headlined a rally at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza Saturday to boost the candidacy of Republican John Dennis in his longshot bid to unseat Speaker of the House Nancy PelosiNancy Pelosi.

An enthusiastic and liberty-minded crowd of 1,500 to 2,000 people welcomed Paul with cheers, sign-waving and generous applause as he urged San Francisco voters to remember the principles enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.

Telling the crowd that the philosophy in Washington, D.C., has changed from our Founders’ vision of protecting people from government to government protecting people from themselves, Paul didn’t mince words. “That is very dangerous,” he said, emphasizing the threat to personal freedom and individual rights that has become so prevalent in Washington culture.

Articulating the common-sense message of his non-interventionist foreign policy philosophies, Paul scoffed at the idea being promoted by President Obama that the Iraq War is over. He said that Obama was merely continuing the ideologically flawed BushBush Doctrine of “preventive war.”

“Preventive war doesn’t sound quite as bad as ‘aggression,’” Paul said, “but it’s aggression when you go and start wars and kill people because you don’t like them.” He reminded the crowd that many of the same people being targeted for assassination by Special Operations units in Afghanistan today were allies of the United States in the 1970s and 1980s, when they fought against and defeated more than 500,000 Soviet soldiers with assistance from the United States. Paul quoted poignant lyrics from 1960s singer-songwriter Phil Ochs and the legendary Buffy St. Marie as he drove his anti-war points home to the receptive crowd.

Weighing on the controversy over the proposed Islamic Cultural Center in New York City, Paul was adamant in his defense of property rights and First Amendment right to freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Calling the entire media spectacle surrounding the proposed center “contrived,” Paul said that many of those who oppose it believed that if they could prevent it from being built, “that would mean Islam is guilty.”

Paul also sent a message of support to California voters who support Prop. 19, which would legalize marijuana in the state, by chastising government officials who think it is somehow their duty to monitor what individuals eat, drink or smoke.

Sporting a bright yellow shirt and looking fit and feisty as ever, Paul also spoke out against the so-called “bailout” of huge banks that practically held the government hostage with demands and threats in the last few months of the GeorgeGeorge W. Bush presidency.

“Who got hurt (in the bailout)?” Paul asked rhetorically. “The poor. Who got helped? The banks and the military-industrial complex.”

FWIW: my choice of the Highlights of this Sept 2010 SF event

* Matt Gonzales: Reminds us of the 2008 Four Points of Agreement between Nader, McKinney, Baldwin and Ron P on (1) end the wars, (2) reinstate civil liberties, (3) decrease national debt, (4) end fed reserve, corporate subsidies & bank bailouts. Matt G warns us against Obama's smooth rhetorics (not backed by actions), including the one about "the end" of Iraq war.

* John Dennis: "Stop WA before the government destroys our country!" "The battle is in between WA DC and us", (seeking common grounds and purpose to stand against Pelosi, THE government enabler for both R&D administrations.)

* Ron Paul: In this extemporaneous speech he made a few courageous points besides going over the basic libertarian principles.

(1) Most candidates talk (mimic) our language (as with some teaparty candidates), but our job is to keep our messages clearly defined and underscore the total inconsistency of their pressing for Big Government around the world (war-mongering), while claiming to be for "limited government".

(2) Principles of Nullification and 10th Amendment are helpful means to keep the federal government in check, when we are mistreated, over-regulated and forced to fight in too many wars.

(3) He characterized our present foreign policy of assassination (with 13000 special ops), CIA drones bombardment and "preventive wars" (wars of aggression), as despicable. We need to mind our own business, not bribe nor threaten with bombs, but extend friendship and trade when dealing with foreign countries.

(4) Impending financial collapse, the burst of the Big Bubble, is guaranteed to come when the US dollar quits functioning, causing much anger among populace. Ron Paul stresses that in order to put the economy back properly Principles of Liberty will have to be understood by a large segment of the population.

(5) Bradley Manning may be following his moral code and even the Constitution, when he decided to expose government lies about Afghanistan war. If all liars and counterfeiters are to be punished, Fed Res would be punished, with the penalty of death, according to Coins Act of 1792.

(6) The most moving part of Ron Paul's speech is when he talks about the Ideological struggle we are engaged in now. He is firmly convinced that the Principles of Liberty are the most important thing, more than our personal religious values and intellectual rights. "Because it is under Liberty that we are allowed to promote our excellence and virtue: that's what life should be all about in my view point."

"But we have allowed the government to take over that moral responsibility of making us better people or making the economy fairer or telling other people around the world to be like us and have democracy. Every time the government assumes the responsibility to be a nanny or an instructor to tell us how to live and what to do, no matter what the motivation is, they can't do it without undermining Liberty."

(This is why we LOVE Ron Paul! -y)

ytc, that is a great recap of the highlights,

and I agree the most moving point of all was #6. But to expand on #4, Dr. Paul said that each one of us, in order to prepare for a transition to liberty, must go out and education 100 more people, or 200 or 300!
We have to increase our numbers to change the underlying philosophical paradigmn of this society. We need, each of us, to become experts in educating people in the principles of liberty, and converting not just immediate friends and family, but every thinking mind within reach of our voices, internet posts, blogs, sites, articles, videos, art, activism.

Thanks for expanding on #4, reedr3r. Isn't it interesting that

by urging us to change "the underlying philosophical paradigm of this society", as you mention, Dr Paul is being far more ambitious and sagacious than most partisan politicians who would just ask us to hustle and do/say anything to win the "next" election. -y

Besides that, rallies are going to have to get much bigger....

...In order for John Dennis to dethrone Pelosi in November!!

We will need the left, particularly the unions to understand how Pelosi has been ruining them all by sending their jobs to Europe via Cap & Trade not to mention sending all their taxes into war for the neocon empire overseas. 60% of their taxes goes to imperial and un-winnable wars. Imagine how that must feel!

Get Sheehan and others to speak for the rallies.

Cindy was there.

As were all the true supporters of liberty.

Prepare the overflowing barrage!!!!!

The streets will fill all of San Francisco to show how the unions have screwed them like lemmings!!

Yeah but if you target them....

They are really powerful, so you're going to have to get LOUD and target the Democrat leaders best friends Lindsay Graham, Snowe, John Boehner, & other Republirats like Chuck Grassley to throw them out of office and keep them out.

These neo-liberal fake Republicans aka progressives are the best friends those five Demoncrats ever had, and they are the standard for neoliberalism.
(Then we have to hunt down McCain)

Great event

it was a great event built on a great premise. As zealous we people need to lay aside our pet doctrines, focus on the essential, and reason to the root of the issues. Can we advance individual liberty and who will help us.
We have allies, on the right, the left and the center. We need to stop pushing them away.

To the Truther Guys at the event. I think you guys were/are scumbags. Yes you have free speech, but that does not mean you should exercise every chance you get. All you did was cause division in a rally that was meant to unite people. Good Job

bump

anybody can tell how many people where there?

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence.” Dr. Ron Paul

About 300

I was disappointed that people placed barbecues before liberty. There was time for both on that beautiful day.

reedr3v Says 500

I'd say thats pushing it...I'd put it at somewhere between 300 to 400. I realize this was about John Dennis but for a metropolitan area with almost 7 million people in a state where Ron Paul was a write in on the ballot this was a sad turnout in my opinion. I don't know if it was not properly advertised or what.

This says 1500-2000
http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/6690550-ron-paul-g...

I was there from when there was a handful of people were there before 1:00 pm to the very end. I've been to a couple hundred large events (and counted 1000 people marching onto a field so I know what a 1000 looks like.)

Here is a pic I took from the back for reference when the speaking started granted a few more people filtered in but their numbers are way off.

The speeches were very good and it was great to finally see Ron speak in person.

500?? 1500-2000? Not...
http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo239/purldiver_/RonPaul0...

The crowd was more like 1500

Stop being such a downer. The 300-400 crowd estimate is either mistakenly underestimated or a downright fib.

Does this look like 300-500 or more like 1,500? Keep in mind, the photo doesn't even capture the entire crowd.

Thanks for the info Thomas

The numbers surprised me...I was expecting a huge excited crowd especially with the latest talk about Ron running for president again.

allvoices there many fans of Ron Paul on their staff so it is no surprise they would promote higher estimate of the crowd.

I guess the local TV and press did nothing much to talk about this event.
Perhaps if CFL people got Ron some interviews on local TV stations and local radio then people would know about it.

Again I blame the organizers all reminds me of at times chaos during the presidential campaign.Lack of experience e.t.c. or elements of sabotage.

Thanks Thomas.

If I hadn't seen this on the Daily Paul, I wouldn't have know

I don't know how anyone who wasn't actively interested in liberty would have known about this event. Good luck getting the SF Chronicle to seriously cover a challenger to their hero Nancy Pelosi.

legalizeliberty

You know I didn't even want to take that pic when I took it. I was pissed off and disappointed that the crowd was so small and remarked that to my friend that was campaigning at the event. And to clarify since the right side is a little cut off: the speaker at the mike is centered on the gravel plaza so not many people were missed in the shot. You could also walk freely through the entire crowd for the duration...large gaps everywhere with the exception of right in front of the stage.

To be on the safe side I'll give reedr3v 500 and thats vendors included of course...

That plaza is only about 75' wide...

I have some pictures

I had a bunch of pictures of the crowd size but I deleted them because of the truther signs. There was about 500-700 people

Once Again You Are Full Of It...

I saw one small sign at the event and you have the audacity to pluralize that...nice try mr "I deleted them"...

I saw at least 2 signs.

Who knows, maybe they some of Tyler Collins' friends.

OK pistol Maybe I Missed One

the one I saw was B&W and pretty small. But AMC make it sound like they were everywhere which is not the case.
