What do Paulites think of Joe Miller?
Submitted by pawnstorm12 on Fri, 09/03/2010 - 13:59
I like what I've heard from him so far but I was wondering what other Ron Paul supporters think of him.
Often times a candidate sounds good and seems like a good liberty candidate but their background sounds a little different.
Any opinions on Joe Miller as a true liberty candidate?
Especially regarding his stance on foreign policy.

hate to say it
But based on his fear of Iran comments...looks like he will be another military industrial complex stooge voting more war an empire.
met joe
he is a patriot
Bump
..
And bigger than Palin endorsement...
And bigger than Palin endorsement (I personally don't think she is very popular in Alaska anymore) was that Murkauski voted for the bailout after a barrage of phone calls telling her not to vote for it. That is the real reason that she lost.
I like these positions (copied from poq below):
◦ Constitutional Authority—each bill would be required to specify the provision in the Constitution that gives to Congress the power to do what the bill does.
◦ Limitation of Scope—Each bill would pertain to only one issue. There would be no "Omnibus" bills. Neither would amendments be considered that do not pertain to the subject of the bill.
◦ Regular Order—Would reinstitute open rules for appropriations bills, allowing for unlimited amendments and debate.
• Eliminate the Department of Education[15]
---------
I'd just like to hear more from him about cutting taxes short term and tax reform (Constitutional) long term.
Vote for Liberty...Buy Silver Eagles.
I know him personally
He is basicly a constitutionalist. He was surprised when I told him that I supported Ron Paul right before the Republican presidential primaries. But he knew nothing about Ron Paul and he believed in the "War". I believe he came a long ways after that. A lot has changed since then and now he knows a lot more about Ron Paul.
He still believes in the 'strong defense BS' but he opposes occupying a foreign country without a declaration of war.
He was the only candidate in Alaska that answered the C4L survey. And he answered well in my opinion.
See the survey here:

What's the deal with his Huckabee connection
http://senatus.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/alaska-senate-huckab...
This always makes me suspicious
The deal is they went and hitched on his wagon
Just like on Rand Paul they "tagged along for the ride"
Huckabee is a crazed neoliberal who did not even care about the race, nor endorse Joe Miller until long after "Palin" and the other neoliberals did. Borrowed time.
He also aced the test.
He has such a spotless voting record that he aced the test.
Far as I'm concerned Joe is a real Republican because he's about as close to Ron Paul as you come, and is still coming around to the other issues.
Palin came along and "endorsed" him, I think it more likely the other way around. Everyone was so struck by his record, that Palin & the GOP had no choice but to tag along for the ride.
It's amazing to me how the GOP claims to be so very "conservative", when most of their idiotic leaders (in the GOP that is) support nation-building and liberal nanny state bologna we only had from the Democratic party. Tells you everything you need to know when a half-way gay guy like Tom DeLay starts leading the GOP to Joe Farah concerts, that they have completely gone over the side of a cliff.
"tag along for the ride."
...there's gonna be a lot of this going on into 2012 ... in races where our Liberty candidates CANNOT overcome a status-quo, pro-Establishment Republican in a primary - we are going to need to run them as INDEPENDENTS, 100% proudly associated with Ron Paul's ideology that sparked the REAL Tea Party ...
Again, it doesn't have to be a 3rd Party - but - it will have to be a STRONG, SOLID, committed organization for ONLY Liberty candidates, who are Statesmen!
We're gonna have to gear up, and FUND an avenue where we can HIRE campaign organizers to get SIGNATURES for our candidates ... we are going to have to take a great MANY seats in state houses, and the Congress in 2012 ... a handful(as Republicans), peppered throughout the WHOLE nation every two years will have no impact on our destiny with despotism ... Fox News will give Rand Paul plenty of coverage, maybe they'll even give Ron Paul significantly more press - but we need a MAJORITY, not a perception by appeasement that "things are changing"...you know!
Hey, guess whose gonna be up for re-election in 2012?
Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow!!!
We ought to knock her off with the first Jefferson Party INDEPENDENT; as this movement grows, eh? - that'd SHAKE UP the nation big time - Hey! I just might be that guy! http://michiganpep.org
This campaign starts at the same time Ron Paul's 2012 POTUS campaign starts... let's crank it up!

Perhaps we need a NEW slogan....
"When there's something strange....in the neighborhood..
WHO YOU GONNA CALL? RON PAUL BUSTERS!!!"
"Did you know the candidate you've been supporting, is a CARD-CARRYING member of the NWO Plutocrat agenda?
Did you know Debbie Stabenow is a proud card-carrier of the NWO, Plutocratic WORLD GOVERNMENT agenda?"
"That's who YOU been supporting..."
"We support LIBERTY, nothing more nothing less!
Vote for LIBERTY....Break down the Barrier!
Bad wars will Bankrupt Us"
The Fed is a Fraud
"Will you vote for PLUTOCRACY?" (Point to Glenn Beck, Debbie Stabenow, fat Rush & Bill Maher)
"Or will you vote for LIBERTY?"
R-E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N
*Point to RON PAUL, THOMAS WOODS, THOMAS JEFFERSON, CHUCK BALDWIN, etc.*
"The choice is yours...
LIBERTY LOVERS don't need no WORLD GOVERNMENT!!"
Here's what I could gather from the debates
Aug. 20 Joe Miller debates Murkowski
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYq-NW6vGmA
Of course these were all things he said he believes in. Who knows how sincere he is, but he certainly sounded so. For what he did talk about he sounds pretty good. He didn't say much about foreign policy unfortunately, but I would assume your standard republican outlook there. Overall he sounds pretty good if he does what he says he's going to do.
He's got a good platform
But I'm not going to make the mistake of thinking "Oh its because he has an R next to his name"
No, JOE MILLER just has a good platform that works. He's one of the few constitutionalist candidates we have in Congress now next to Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich and Gregg.
So that is why I back him and I sure won't be a "good republican/voter" if he backs the socialized insane wars overseas. We need to cut that off at the pass. I will be putting whatever pressure can be there to get them to cut off spending to MIC welfare, thus ending the far left socialist nation building.
War Will Bankrupt Us needs to be the new slogan....candidates will win on that platform.
Found some more info including his defense views at the bottom
He seems very focused on cutting spending and repealing unconstitutional laws and programs. It took me awhile to even find anything on foreign policy or defense. Here's what I got:

AHA! found one on defense and foreign policy… yep, looks pretty typical.
Defense spending
http://www.newsminer.com/view/full_story/9239938/article-Joe...
Great work "poq"...
Good research.
I love his cutting programs like the IMMORAL National Endowment for the Arts and cutting foreign aid.
I must remember, there is only one Ron Paul and I am spoiled, so I have to compromise on some points with every other candidate it seems.
Miller overall is good it seems to me, and every politician has to keep a little powder dry in the process of seeking election.
For now I am a supporter of Miller.
He seems very close to being a good liberty candidate.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
Thanks
Yes there's no one like Ron. There are a small handful that are very close, and among the "non" Ron Paul candidates he is probably one of the better ones I've seen.
Yeah, a catch 22 that can be worked with...
As long as we can get him to work on REDUCING defense spending thus reducing the deficit then he's the type of congressmen we need.
Strong defense is only important if it doesn't include nation building. Lets push him away from the nation building world because the rest of his is good.
New slogan:
"Wars Will Bankrupt Us"
Teach all the various parties...
I want a strong DEFENSE.
I want the best military toys in the world. I want to keep our military/industrial machine viable and innovative. I just don't want to use it, and that is an underlying policy shift which has occurred in this country over time...that's what has to change IMO.
It's the using of it which causes the problems, so the defense budget reductions should come from disengaging globally. I sense Mr. Miller doesn't understand "Empire" fully.
Vote for Liberty...Buy Silver Eagles.
Well he wants to end a lot of the bases....
And he won't be able to do it alone, because the elite liberals will fight this legislation for everything it is worth.
If we cut back on just 50% of the useless, overseas bases that are being used for socialized nation-building than we came a long way to cutting the budget.
We can change their mind on "foreign" intervention, if you can connect it to the reality of financial collapse.
He'll see the merit in that. As I personally see the merit in keeping a strong military in parts of Korea, because if a war or something else breaks out we need to put a stop to it & flush out the Mossad/MI6 squads who kill people left and right.
And I'm sure there will be a lot of those yet. But we cannot afford to invade other countries or meddle in their affairs, as that will bankrupt us. We just need to get that clearly understood.
Rand Paul is on his way to educating them all on this so that's the good part. We need to cut out the "empire building", not cut out the miltiary. In fact, we need a lot more reserve troops in certain areas such as Turkey to prevent a total uprising. I would say we even need to send "Marque" bounty hunters into Turkey, to do away with & assassinate the leaders of certain muslim cults. They are all dangerous, then we can scale back our troop presence in Palestine & flat let Egypt, Israel & Palestine deal with the mess themselves since we don't have a clue.
Cutting back 50% of foreign aid like proposed here is a good start. Just make sure its foreign aid to Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and all the other crazy places WHEN you cut back that aid otherwise its singing in the wind.
Until I hear him denounce.....
Military subsidized welfare, aka welfare for the military I will assume that they will buy him somehow.
Probably the best bet Alaska could come up with and at the least we can get him to cut down spending on overseas and socialite programs.
He apparently fought in the first Gulf war
A police action we (the US) should not have done.
I would have let the rich Saudi kings field an army and fight Saddam themselves.
It was protecting oil company (private entities) property with the United States military.
Corporate welfare at its finest.
We never should have bothered with Saddam in Kuwait.
But that's another story.
Since Miller served at that time, maybe he had no choice but to fight there.
I can't seem to find much on his foreign policy opinions either.
That's why I posted this to see if any of you had some insight.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
Probably not. I heard him
Probably not. I heard him ranting about the entitlement system but mentioned nothing about foreign policy. Just another Tea Party hack in my opinion.
http://www.meetup.com/RP2012GrandJunctionCO
I'm not from Alaska and know
little about him but, he sure did stick up to John King in his CNN interview. He does have conviction. He is a self proclaimed "constitutional republican" and believes in state's rights. No conversation on foreign policy at all which makes me suspect that he is more of a Palin republican and it is interesting* that CNN didn't ask about his foreign policies! As far as I know, Ron hasn't endorsed him but, I am glad that he defeated "nepotism" in the bud. He also strikes me as one who will not go along and be brow-beat by the old guard, life long bankster shills, old Israel first bastards, republican status quo...
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
"I have one word for you...predator drones. Oh, you think I'm kidding?" Obombya
I heard Joe in an...
interview on CNN the other day. He said all the right things, until he was asked about his support for Palin in 2012. He wholeheartedly supported "her." All in all, a lot better choice than his opponent.

He probably has to support
He probably has to support her because if it were not for her endorsement, he wouldn't have won the primary.
I like Joe Miller a lot. He wants to end social security, however, I have yet to hear anything on foreign policy.
I'm sure he was cowed into supporting them.
I will never support neoliberal Palin, however I will defend her right to free speech.
Wars Will Bankrupt Us is the real slogan to have.
