Ron Paul on Quran Burning: “The Real Provocateurs”

Ron Paul on Quran Burning: “The Real Provocateurs”

LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Congressman Ron Paul today issued the following statement about a Florida pastor's plan to ban copies of the Quran on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

“A professed Christian pastor in Gainesville, Florida, Terry Jones, plans to burn copies of the Quran on 9/11. He indicts all Islam for 9/11 and argues that it is a hate-driven religion. He’s convinced he’s on God’s side even though he is getting little support from other Christians, who believe that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

“General David Petraeus, our military commander in Afghanistan, strongly condemned Mr. Jones’ plan, arguing it would be provocative, make his fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan more difficult and further jeopardize the lives of American soldiers.

“I agree! This blame of all Muslims for the atrocities of 9/11 only makes things worse — especially since it wasn’t the Taliban of Afghanistan that committed the atrocities on 9/11. Under Jones’ warped logic, we should have attacked Saudi Arabia since 15 of the 19 suicide bombers came from that country.

“But while I am pleased to see General Petraeus recognize the danger of one type of incitement, he unfortunately fails to see the whole picture and understand that our policies of torture, targeted assassination, invasion of Muslim countries and unintended infliction of civilian casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan are also provocative. Pictures of victims of torture as well as innocent people killed by drones and stray bombs are every bit as bad as burning the Quran.

“In some ways, what Jones is doing may be minor compared to the resentment toward us as a consequence of what our government has done to thousands of innocent victims.

“As I have said time and time again, Osama bin Laden wins by 'proving' that America is an enemy of Islam and has an occupation agenda in the Middle East. And, we continue to walk into his trap and hand him up his best recruitment tool in his efforts to provoke hatred and terrorism against the United States.

“If we don’t want to incite radical Islamists, we need to stop these un-needed wars. It is high time we came to our senses, brought our troops home to defend our country and pursued a Constitutional, Pro-American foreign policy.”

I suppose burning a book is less inflaming than burning humans.

Think of all those people in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan that Bush's and Obama's warriors lit and are still lighting up over there.

The "Christian" bozos behind this book burning are of the same mind set as politicians, but instead of taking their identity from the nation in which they live, they take it from the religion to which they belong. I suppose it is time for the crusades again.

I thought one of the teachings of Christianity was to turn the other cheek, and I don't think the original meaning of that was butt cheek.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Don't agree with any stupid book burning, but I support his

right to do it.

Not sure what it has to do with 9/11 though. :-)

If Ron Paul said this, I would beg to differ with him....

on this point from this article.

I submit that torturing to death and killing people are both much worse than burning a Quran or a thousands Qurans for that matter.

I do not believe that there is any doubt about it. The resentment against someone in inconsequential for burning a book in comparison to the resentment against someone for the killing of their brethren.

Let's get real. a person is killed versus a book burned...no comparison.

The whole intent of this interview was to

brandish the CNN/Time poll that touts Conway as having pulled even with Rand Paul in Kentucky. Dr. Paul dismissed this very quickly and easily, but you can't un-ring a bell, and that's just what this interview was designed to do - marginalize Rand Paul in Kentucky. That poll is bull, and they know it, but they report it as a fact, and people buy it. Ah, the power of media to create facts.

All things considered...

...NEGATIVE press is still PRESS!

The Neo-Cons can't sell the war anymore; because the people are figuring out that wars cost MONEY, tax money!

The Neo-Cons have resorted to selling it as a religious war(and now Glenn Beck & co. has been called to split the Muslims into two camps; the radicals, and the peaceful); meaning reasonable God-created, NORMAL human beings who think things through, and behave in a SUSPECT manner towards man-tainted religious dogma don't exist.

So in having talked about the mosque ad nauseum(conservative talk radio) - and now having the WHOLE of the media talk about this book burning ad nauseum as well - the people are IGNORING their primary responsibility on this Earth to SEEK to KNOW the REAL character of(what our founders called) the Supreme Being, or Creator.

The people, now incessantly commenting, even if in defense of Muslims; don't realize how much of a non-issue all of this is ... yet the media is capitalizing on fueling the 'division' for the government ... and making it an ISSUE. Now, acts of random violence in the future, will have a legitimate EXCUSE; and, it will be called BLOWBACK!

Alex Jones will continue on saying it is all government sponsored terrorism, government funded, false flag; whatever - and they will feed him info to put in his movies and he will keep making a nice living capitalizing on the people's inherent mistrust of government.

Fort Hood, trial balloon; right?

A trap is being laid, and hyped by the media, so that our supposed collective, and and presumed anti-Muslim sentiments will forever be cemented as the root cause of every bad thing that happens from here on out in America.

The GRAND scheme; this is the onset of creating and increasing a "division", that pretty much didn't exist amongst THINKING PEOPLE; who don't watch television and listen to talk radio ALL DAY LONG!

If they unleash the "reaping" of what these anti-Muslim sentiments "can" produce; and more war and bloodshed flourishes - which in turn upsets the really emotional anti-war zealots(as well as pisses off the Ron Paul Revolution for good reason) - then the NEW ideological war will be between those people who(once again) are READY to trade(and will beg to trade) their Liberty for security - versus - us, the PROPONENTS of a return to a nation that flourishes in the Liberty our founders intended, under the rule of law; and the boundaries in the Constitution that BINDS the Federal government to the TWO MAIN tasks; which are, the punishment of evil-doers, and national defense...to which...RELIGION doesn't enter into the equation EVER!!!

This is almost so obvious that it is sickening. The only BLOWBACK I am looking for, is to see the American people RAIL back against the MEDIA and the POLITICIANS and say with ONE VOICE "we're better than this, you assholes!!! - so why don't you all just shut the hell up about all this crap" (the mosque and the book burning).

The electorate has had their voice silenced for so long in the affairs of government, that everyone wants their .02 cents on TELEVISION and RADIO...steam valve!!!

I would hazard to bet that most Muslims who haven't been brainwashed and baited into a drug-induced haze where they are willing to commit suicide, (which again, is any reasonable person knows is instinctively wrong; IRRESPECTIVE of their professed RELIGION) - is NOT with the Rise of the Re-invigorated RIGHT, in the form of the *NEW* Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin Tea Party!

This is all just getting so STUPID, so contrived, so nauseatingly manufactured on a daily basis; and so seriously not worth a mention ANYWHERE in a free society that has a decent press.

This ruse, to whip up emotionally unstable people to act stupidly, perhaps even violently; and then ultimately to VOTE stupidly; is ONLY possible simply because they are UNLEARNED professing Christian folk, who are not only wholly ignorant of their Scriptures; but they are also ridiculously dismissive of the words of our Declaration of Independence that declares "all men are created EQUAL".

WE DON'T ALIENATE or MARGINALIZE PEOPLE BASED ON THEIR PROFESSED RELIGION!!! Everyone gets a FREE shot at LIBERTY - until they do something stupid to get themselves locked up!

As for the clown heading up this whole thing; he's an absolute moron ... he, and his SUPPORTERS, are provocateurs! Religious wars, religious-based reasons to alienate others are never "justified" in God's sight(therefore it is NOT reflective of the PURE religion our founders promoted and adhered to; which, even if predominately based on the General Principles of Christianity, NEVER endorsed a pre-emptive war against another religion) ... everyone can and should be FREE to discuss their personal beliefs about the character traits and good attributes of the Creator(who is higher than Caesar - and will - ultimately severely disappoint the aims of these butt-heads creating this theater of division to achieve their own ends), that is how America WORKS!

Man-made religion(assumptions and 'usurpations' of what God has already clearly communicated to humanity in creation revelation, and conscience revelation) is Satan's number one tool to lead people to DO WRONG, and rationalize it, until they end up in Hell. Religion, is still the easiest thing to get people divided over; because people do like to think, communicate, and get feedback.

The great majority of human beings on the planet, being primarily sober-minded(and free to think) in the beginning of their lives; are attentive to their conscience. They can see the Creator's hand everyday in creation, and in the way they formulate NEW thoughts each NEW morning; EVERY CHILD can see that He is good, EVERY rational adult not given over to a reprobate mind(Romans 1) can discern that He is NOT unreasonable in His moral dictates upon humanity, and we should KNOW that He is NOT in competition with Satan!

Satan is a CREATED being, Satan TEMPTS people, Satan is the master counterfeiter, and he really has NO power over those who would CHOOSE to obey the Creator willingly. When people try to get away with something, for a little gain of pleasure or money; thus begins the slippery slope. And if they "get away" with it long enough - you end up with ... well ... Congress and this White House!

Any sober person can FLEE the unction to "do bad things", it was ALWAYS in our DNA...the spiritual blindness of the electorate in this country just about has me at my wits end - we're so distracted with STUFF, and like children; so desirous to HOLD ONTO it and worship it - that it all spills over to how we VOTE!

How selfish! The bottom line is, technically; via the ballot box, we have GIVEN OUR CONSENT to allowing these orchestrators of this whole damn tyranny of thought and governance ... this is going to have to be UNDONE, one created soul at a time ... my fear is, since Satan is such a destructive person; and apparently he is having his way with our nation's politics and our morality - he will have to be afforded his opportunity to tear down these idols we have made in our minds, and with our hands; in order for God to get our attention!

I fear bad times ahead, because so many people don't want to take on their personal responsibility to pass on a better morality, and a better America to the next generation. In their selfish quest to accumulate "things" and experience as many selfish pursuits of pleasure as they can before they die; they have forgotten that the Creator is still in control, and it is at His sovereign decree as to whom He will grant stewardship opportunities to; over our natural resources, money, children, and our government.

Poverty and PROSPERITY are the SAME TEST - America has blown it with the prosperity end of it; and God has been more than long-suffering with us - as He was with Israel in the Old Testament ... but, for their own GOOD, He had to judge them rightly for IGNORING His Word ... God doesn't tolerate people making Him out to be a cosmic killjoy, nor the "author of evil"...peaceful Muslims already know this, and so, like the rational Christians; they behave themselves and do good unto others - and do not FEAR their fellow man, but rather serve him - as should be our reasonable service, in GRATITUDE for our God-given Liberty!

No news coverage, then there will be no NEWS

Why give him ny attention. One church burns Korans and now all Americans are muslim haters. Ignore the pastor and his church, you will take the wind out of his sail. Tell him don't do it, don't do it, and he can taunt everyone.

They burn our flag and yell "death to America", do we go over there and attack them....ah yes we are there. We need to get out of there and mind our business. We had a chance to off Bin Laden in the 90s and we didn't. We need come home and protect our borders, protect our country.

"Every generation needs a new r3VOLution"- Thomas Jefferson

I agree with Ron Paul on the Quran burning issue

I just wish he'd stop talking about Bin Laden as if he's still a big deal. The man is most probably dead for years now. Ask Benazir Bhutto, oh no wait, that's not possible because she's dead too.

I know I might sound selfish

I know I might sound selfish saying this but I'm happy I will not be there when this blow back occurs. I went on R&R and got an email saying "Don't come back!"

You should have seen me, I think I danced as if I had won a million dollar lottery jackpot!

My wife didn't believe it!

Although I still have people I consider friends over there and I'd hate to see them get hurt. They're already in enough danger over there, why encourage more violence?

Politicians thrive on hatred.

Politicians thrive on hatred. Our politicians promote the hatred of Muslims in order to manipulate us into supporting their Globalist agenda. Osama bin Laden benefits by using hatred against us in order to manipulate foolish Muslims into suicide attacks against our military personnel.

Muslims are no more to blame than the the American people. It is the work of Middle Eastern terrorist groups that were turned against us by the actions of our politicians in their quest for a New World Order.

There is little we can do against the terrorists. They don't wear uniforms. They are not a nation or government. They don't have a geographical area that can be conquered. But we do have the power to vote out the Globalists who continue to involve us in foreign wars we have no business in.

But isn't that the very thing that our troops are being

abused for?

It seems this entire invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan is to 'provoke' them to 'hate' America. These same haters will then be recruited into UN forces and they will bring them here and let them loose on us all. That is what I cannot help but see.

It is about as obvious to me as when Bush jr announced his 'No child left behind' (double speak) was to dumb down the kids to such extent they end up in the Marines or National Guard.

This is all manipulation of an NWO agenda.

if he is a christian

he needs to get in the buisness of winning souls. Since this is clearly going against that and the whole meek shall inherit the earth thing, I guess he may not be as christian as he would like us to believe. Granted children going fishing can sometimes get caught up trying to kill snakes. and not catch any fish or kill any snakes but they sure were "noble" going after that snake right.

ytc's picture

By "winning souls"do you mean to appease Glenn Beck/Palin crowd

of feel-good-to-be-pro-aggressive-perpetual-war "christians" just to gain their votes?

Or, if you are talking about winning Muslim souls to come to LOVE Christ with us, perhaps becoming friends and establishing mutually equitable trade with them is a FAR better approach to introduce Christ to them than torturing, drone-bombing, assassinating and desecrating a holy book that they cherish. No?

Christ said he came for sinners among us. And that he is like a shepherd who will go out of his way to find and retrieve the very last missing lamb. He would surely LOVE Muslims as much as Christians and Buddhists, even when we are all still blindly wallowing in the sins of hubris, greed, wrath, gluttony . . . and such (remember "seven deadly sins"?). Lucky for even the least among us: Muslims AND Christians.

I dont see a meek guy

as "feel-good-to-be-pro-aggressive-perpetual-war "christians" just to gain their votes"

All I see here is some preacher trying to glorify himself instead of Christ. I think Christians need to be involved in government just enough to keep it out of their lives (no irs, social security, fda etc, you know what I mean).

I can see it right now. this guy is probably thinking how noble he is because he is standing up to those bad bad muslims by burning the quoran. He should look up history and see what happened when the cathlic church burned william tyndails Bibles.

ytc's picture

BTW, there's a great remedy to counter these "seven deadly sins"

of pride, wrath, greed, lust, envy, sloth and gluttony.

The seven virtues are: Prudence, Justice, Temperance and Fortitude (Courage), which are known as 4 cardinal virtues, and Faith, Hope and Love (Charity), also known as 3 theological virtues.

Dr. Paul is a practitioner of these virtues. He mentions time and again, and in fact as recently as last weekend at SF Principles over Parties Rally, that he considers Principles of Liberty to be most important, "because it is under Liberty that we are allowed to promote our excellence and virtue: that's what life should be all about in my view point." (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/143776#comment-1530116)

The good doctor is extraordinary in so many ways. On top of being a physician with a deep knowledge of economics he is living a life of excellence and virtue himself.

So, wraiththirteen, I would say Dr. Paul IS a Christian: not the type who use the label to justify harming others, but the type we respect, adore and wish to emulate.

ytc, oh so well said! Bravo!

Yes, Dr.Ron Paul is a 'true' Christian because he 'lives' those teachings and is a wonderful mentor for us all!

Oh how I admire that man.

NO END IN SIGHT ..UNLESS

we must abolish the FED, and the STATE DEPARTMENT AS THESE ARE THE TOOLS OF THE NWO TO KEEP US IN CONFLITCS
and bankrupt our nation.

DAN

Dr. Paul is correct again!

How hypocritical is it for the head of the operation which is actually doing the invading, to comment on a little action by a nobody minister?

It just strikes me a ironic.

And if the media and the military hadn't given this guy so much press, nobody would have heard of his actions anyway.

They have played right into his hands.

And which incites more hatred; burning a book or bombing, killing and invading their land?

Ridiculous.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

this should not be receiving . . .

media coverage--

not MSM anyway--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

As an individual, he has a right. More liberty, not less

This nutball pastor has the right to burn the Koran, and people have the right to peacefully protest. People have the right to burn the flag, and others have the right to peacefully protest. That nutball "artist" years ago had the right to put a cross in a bucket of urine, and people had the right to protest.

While I don't agree with the burning of the Koran, I'm not going to tell another free individual that he can't. However, i will tell him I don't agree with it.
