Blogs and Yard Signs and Precincting (Oh My!)
So, as we approach 2010 (really 2012) are we going to try to inNovate our campaign approach?
Do you think the "evil they" watched, learned, and adapted from our success last time or do you think they'll ignore them?
I don't believe in the political process at all; but worse than that is to watch good people fumble around like a bunch of cluck-tards (retarded chickens) with their heads cut off.
Can we at least get rid of the "Money Bomb" phrase?
Pricincting - Yard Signs - Slim Jims - Blimps - Blogging
That's what worked last time -- Did it work because the other teams didn't think of it (because it was innovative) or will you "trust" that it worked because we were righteous and thus do not need to change?
I can offer no solutions just wanted to get the ball rolling because I've heard some people on hear mumbling yard signs, precincting, bloggin
Worse than Johnny-come-latelies are Johnny do-over Latelies, hahahaha.

How about a
Ten dollar FED Endema. LOL For those who are tired of all the crap the FED is handing out. LOL

I don't mind the term money bombs
But I think it would be a lot more effective to encourage some sort of monthly funding mechanism where people sign up to give a certain amount every month. The campaign would have a steady stream of income and it wouldn't be such a big hit on the pocket books of donors. For this concept to work, there would have to be a large number of people donating. Money bombs are great at generating excitement, and may spur some donations in the heat of the moment that may otherwise not have happened.
As far as precincting I went door to door handing out DVD's, slim jims and flyers to about 300 houses in my precinct. Ron Paul got a whopping 10 primary votes in my precinct. I knew 9 of them. Granted I live in Arkansas, so Huckabee carried the day, but I was not encouraged by the results of my precincting efforts. Hopefully some seeds were planted.
Palin hijacked "Moneybomb"
Unless I missed Joe Miller on the Liberty Candidates list.

I also saw some random
I also saw some random democrat saying that he just had a money bomb as well. I think the term is now dead in it's usefulness. We should set up something where we donate once a month or have cluster bombs.

minimoneybombs may generate more money over the long run because most people tend not to plan ahead and set aside a larger chunk of cash. You have to milk the cow regularly instead of once in a while. It could prove to be a powerful thing if the liberty movement acquired the habit of making frequent smaller contributions.
Monthly Funding ... Its Time Has Come?
"But I think it would be a lot more effective to encourage some sort of monthly funding mechanism where people sign up to give a certain amount every month"
I operate on a fixed budget and see this as a viable alternative to one time large expense... Let's play with some numbers: How many people do you all think we could mobilize for a monthly donation? would one million be out of line as starters? Let say 1M @ $7.00 ea/Mo = $7 Million per month...
If we were to initiate a monthly program early enough, just imagine the amount of resources...
How about 2M individuals? How about $14.00? WOW!!!
Play with it... Run with it... Make it work...
Its Time has come... Ron Paul 2012

PS: Now that corporations can legally give as much as they want... I guess we all can also...
Update:
How about... I pledged "my two cents worth"
[.02 per hour]... .02 X 24 hours(day) = .48 x 30 = $14.40 per month... (bumper stickers, t-shirts, etc.) could generate many questions...
Now all we need is a million people (or more)
Have Peter Schiff's organization control the funds...

How many "Meet Up" members did we have in 2008? This could be a great start...

I don't want to get rid of the concept of the money bomb
it's the "name"
The history of the Money Bomb is one of declining stock value -- though there is an emotional appeal for those of us who were there; it has no emotive effect on opening pocket books.
When's the last time we had a big one and how many of them have there been since we had the big RP ones in 2007-8?

Money bombs work, get media attention, raise awareness, however
they of course shouldn't be overused or depended on to greatly though, I agree.
Other types of "money bombs" should be considered, especially the moneyless variety as not everyone can contribute much more money. Those who are strapped for cash often are more than willing to join together in other way to help the cause that may only require time, talent or shoe leather.
The concept of making simultaneous unified efforts across the country excites a lot of people who would otherwise feel their individual efforts small and meaningless in the grand scheme of things and would rather not bother. But when they join their small contributions together with millions of others it becomes an exciting force to be reckoned with that they feel a part of. It has a Gideon effect on those who witness it. Who are these Ron Paul People? Where did they come from? How did they get to be so numerous?
Along with an intense sign, blogging, petitioning, precinting, blimping and car pimping campaign we should also incorporate new and innovated mass simultaneous action campaigns which could involve those previously mentioned activities as well but could be implemented in new and creative ways.
Some ideas off the top of my head:
There's lots of different ways to do "money bombs" without the money and we should explore and execute as many as we can.
yes; if $ is the limiting factor, reconsider approach
Instead try a $1-Only Money Bomb strictly to show numbers and lower barriers of entry.

cool idea
That will be more effective once the excitement is really starting to get rolling. Most likely after a real announcement or even after a primary debate. BAM! $1-only Money Bomb in yo face!
Not to mention, that would probably get a lot of new recruites on some mailing lists for future, bigger fundraisers and all other volunteer work.
I thought that was a good idea as well
The un-popularity of this type of thread is not very encouraging -- last time is was about innovation and suprise attack.
Now that the "enemy" is way way forwarned and thus foraremed there needs to be some serious ideation over how to move forward and how to position yourselves.
*&^ Constitution --- Constitutional Rationality
excellent!
that's the innovation we need. In 2008 we got his name out there with the money bombs. Now that it is out there we need more than anything to demonstrate he's got the support to back him up.
IMO... No on getting rid of
IMO... No on getting rid of the term 'Money Bomb'. We coined that phrase and many, many campaigns have used in since. On top of that, this 'money bomb' helped lead us to having the all time record for one-day donations to a presidential candidate.
Why on earth would you want to get rid of something so successful?
