Who owns the properties?
Many bank owned properties are going un-recorded because they don't want to pay the taxes and insurance on them. Could it be that it would cost them less, or even allow them to make money (collect) on them if they were destroyed?
Follow the money.

  • The days Rome burned, after redesign plan finished
  • The night they burned ol' Dixie down, Un-Civil War "Gone with the Wind"
  • The night Mrs. O' Leary lit a lantern in her shed, 1871

All above mentioned hot spots had:

  • Immediate rebuild plans
  • Inconclusive governmental commission reports
  • Lots of burned homes in the way of progress

Is this a plan to reduce the number of houses on the market? Will housing insurance companies want a bailout now?

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Fire crews flooded the ruins of burning homes with water early Friday after a massive explosion apparently triggered by a broken gas line sent flames roaring through a neighborhood near San Francisco, destroying more than 50 houses. There was one confirmed death and reports of several others.

I get an e-mail that says it was Tuesday and that there were 85 fires. They are blaming it mostly on high winds, downed lines, and blown transformers. They did say that a couple of the fires could be due to arson.
