Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer says that Globalization may change the way the First Amendment applies in the United States

(CNSNews.com) – Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer said on Tuesday that globalization may change the way the First Amendment applies in the United States, and he suggested that Pastor Terry Jones’ proposed Quran-burning may or may not be protected under the First Amendment.

Breyer -- appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to promote his book “Making Our Democracy Work” -- made the comments to anchor George Stephanopoulos.

That is a really dumb

That is a really dumb statement.

"Globalization", the New World Order, or any international agreement our politicians enter into has absolutely NO effect on our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.

Obviously, the Qur'an-burning incident is an attempt to usurp Rights from the American people. I don't believe that the First Amendment protects a person's right to burn, the Qur'an, the Bible, or the Torah. Like screaming "fire" in a crowded theater, acts like this are attempts to inflame specific groups and provoke violence.

The use of violence, or even the threat of the use of violence is exactly what our criminal politicians want. And Breyer is telling us exactly how they will respond.

Flag burning falls into the same category. If individuals have a problem with politicians, attacking this nation and it's people is not only missing the target, it is meant to inflame. If their problem is with specific politicians, they need to address them, not us.

If people are upset at the acts of the terrorists, they need to address the terrorists, not Muslims in general. All that is accomplished by attacking Islam, and Muslims in general, is to alienate one and a half billion people. Does our nation really want to have a billion and a half people hating us?

Breyer is speaking to an audience who has no understanding of the Constitution, let alone the Bill of Rights. Most people believe that our Rights are whatever our politicians tell us they are. They believe that these politicians can abridge these Rights in order to "fight terrorism", or some other nebulous action. And, they believe that the Supreme Court "interprets" the Constitution. The Constitution is written in plain English and needs no interpretation. The Court's job is to rule on the case. And if the Justices' ruling does not reflect what the Constitution says in plain English, they can and should be removed.

Again, most Americans think these Justices serve lifetime appointments. But the Constitution says they serve terms of good behavior. Obviously, if they rule in opposition to the Constitution, this constitutes bad behavior.

"Making Our 'Democracy' Work?”-Wrong Word: REPUBLIC!!!

The correct book title should have been "Making Our Republic Work." We live in a Republic, not a democracy.

If he doesn't even know that by this time, he is a traitor to this country, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is one of the many problems we face.

The two most recent additions to the SCOTUS believe that we live in a Gulag in Amerika.

just kidding... he's allowed to his own free speech, but we need to do SOMETHING.

(should i feel guilty for commenting w/o actually having read nothing more than the headline to this story?)

Fostering ideologies that run

Fostering ideologies that run contrary to the Constitution and our sovereignty is not acceptable from a Supreme Court Justice.
This is a conflict of interest and he should be removed. He's just admitted that his rulings are colored by his ideology.

"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that." — Alan Greenspan

My god,

this shithead should be hung effectively ending his appointment. I've never heard something so idiotic, the only thing supreme about this guy is his ignorance.

"Endless money forms the sinews of war." - Cicero, www.freedomshift.blogspot.com

Just wait for some of the wacky crap

Sotomayor and Kagan are going to come up with.

Kids are taught in school that the Supreme Court is an impartial, principled, non partisan body whose decrees can not be questioned.

Truth is, they put their robes on one leg at a time just like the rest of us :). If you are fortunate enough they will declare you 3/5ths of a person or hand you an election.

??? Treating "globalization

??? Treating "globalization as a given? SORRY!! Alexander the Great tried that. Hitler tried that. The British Empire and Rome tried that. This country was started to be OUT of all of it, and even if ALIENS attack, I swear our country should defend ITSELF.

Gud ole' liberals...

Man, they can twist words in any manner they choose.
Enjoy it why you can, Justice Breyer.

The United States is..

the ten miles square of the District of Columbia.

Not the Union of States.

I reserve the right to govern myself.

Scalia/Breyer debate...

on using "foreign law." Traitorous behavior but, I guess it is alright for Barry to use the UN to go after Arizona?

Let's have a "Make our Democracy Work" book burning, providing that we can get some free copies. Should be many available as only Hillary, Obama and a few other communist are going to "buy" it...

I shouldn't be surprised at this point, but damn....

Well of course this has become true to the NWO.

America has subjected itself to communist rule by being out voted by the majority within the United Nations. The communists voted to make the State of Israel and they vote against American principles all the time .

We Patriotic Americans are fighting communist agendas being promoted within the U.N. Out leader have gone over to the other side by way of World Peace. It's called By Partisanship.

What do you think 9/11 was all about? They created the American Patriotism needed to stem the sell out process. It is what is not discused.

Patriotism is now become a control feature , while communism rants it's ugly head through the U.N.
It is the plan for making peace by deception.

YOU thought you were awake.

Of course what he said is treason.

But why would anyone be surprised by that. Steven Breyer, along with Kagan and Ginsberg are dual citizen Isreali's. Three out of nine justice that will vote as a block. Two more and Isreal will have complete say over Americas Supreme Court. As I write this I am sure those two future nominies are being groomed.Who do they serve? Look at Breyers comment about the first ammendment. I rest my case. I can hear the "I smell a bigot" crowd out there already. Poor Isreal! Wake up, These one world zionists are going to destroy the Constitution from within.

In the old America, that

In the old America, that would merit impeachment hearings for the Judge. Now we just say, oh well, more straw for the camel's back.

"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that." — Alan Greenspan

This is propaganda. The first amendment is already

'unrecognized' in the corporate U.S. de facto government.

'We the People Foundation' have already proven to the world on record for 14 years now that our first amendment right to redress the government for violations to the Constitution is unrecognized due to 'no standing' they said. All evidences to show the proof has been denied for the record.

That is why a Continental Congress 2009 was held last November because it is clear that this de facto government is a 'tyrant'.

For them to even say such a thing is moot and a fraud in itself.

WE HAVE NO RIGHTS UNDER A DE FACTO CORPORATE GOVERNMENT! People get over it and face this fact!

The supremes have...

abused their branch of office. It is time for everyone of them to go. We can always try and punish them for treason later....They think that they get their direction from the "commerce act" not the constitution....

They are the Supreme Court,

They are the Supreme Court, not Supreme Beings.

Supremes as in hip chorus for the NWO.

Actually I don't mean to diss the musical group: here's their "Stop! In The Name of Love:"

redefining the constitution

redefining the constitution AND conflicts of interest (promotion of self commerce while holding federal office). Treason.

Very alarming. Time to stage

Very alarming. Time to stage a public protest near the live feeds at Good Morning, America. In every background shot there should be a sea of signs that say "The Constitution Is More Important Than The Opinion Of The Supreme Court".

so sad

The worst part of that quran burning a*hole was that anybody gave him a second of consideration or care.

What he wanted to do was totally legal, within his rights, and needs to stay legal.

I personally found his intent stupid and racist and despicable, but totally legal and within his rights. That's the part about freedom, you have to accept other peoples' rights even if you don't like them.

I'm going to go burn something just for the sake of it while I can. Maybe a bible and quran wrapped in a flag. Maybe an Elvis CD too, if I can find one. Or maybe I'll just delete some MP3s and JPEGs off of my computer of the bible/quran/flag/elvis.

Currently consuming: Harry Browne, Free Domain Radio; JT Gatto and Holt; Wii U

Or (as I used for a sig line back in '96):

Letting other people do things you don't like is the price of freedom.

"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Good sig line. You should

Good sig line. You should revive it. :)

ahhh so the rest of the world

ahhh so the rest of the world can modify our Constitution? This is nothing more then TREASON.

Treason is a cancer on nature.

“I’d rather have a farmer in front of me,
than a frontal assault on me!
War is severely detached from nature.
Support the small family farmer; the true stewards of the lands." -RfL

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

It's such a predictable pattern

The media conditions people to form an opinion, like "burning the Koran is bad and harms our troops." Once the public has agreed that book burning is not protected by our First Amendment right, the Establishment seizes the opportunity to advance its tyrannical agenda. They act like they have the public's consent to "redefine" (translated, abolish incrementally) that right altogether.

What's sad is that people don't think things through and DO give their consent, do relinquish rights.

Classic Hegelian Dialectic.

It's their "bread and butter" activity.
And incredibly, somehow it still works after all this time.

...so according to the judge

...so according to the judge only in a debate can one express his views. Where does he come up with this hogwash? Who determines the arena for a debate that is accessible to the people. Al Gore, if I remember correctly was insulated from questions by a reporter by suggesting the answers Gore gave were not open for "debate". This judge was appointed obviously as a disciple of the NWO and all its tyranny that is subjecting Americans to bear the loss of civil liberties.

Had enough yet?

Is it "Burn a Koran, Bible, Toa te Jing, and / or Bhaga Vad Ghita" day yet?
PLEASE start your bon fire with a copy of the 9-11 Commission report. And if all this seems distasteful somehow, perhaps a copy of the Constitution in flames works for you?

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

I think we ought to burn....

The UN Charter, the 9-11 Commission report, the IRS code, The Kennedy-O Health Care {Rationing} Bill, any and all Codexes, treaties that undermine our sovereignty, and all Federal Reserve notes.

If statists want to burn the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, that would at least be an in-your-face chutzpah that I would have some degree of respect for. Instead, they twist it's meaning or say,"It's deeply flawed."
