Ron Paul is one in a billion
It's unfair to compare Rand to Ron. I think Rand acts strategically instead of idealistically. You can't expect him to have the same kind of inner drive that Ron Paul has, who does? One in a billion? Rand had access to all of the best information growing up, he didn't have to discover it for himself, so how can he have the same motivation?
If Ron Paul vouches for him, that's enough for me, cased closed. The bashers need to find something more useful to do with their time and energy, sitting around bashing Rand Paul is pathetic.
raimondo apologized
did you know james madison compromised with alexander hamilton and others on certain provisions in order to get the constitution passed? food for thought.
thomas jefferson is more libertarian than james madison, from a modern standpoint, so much so that jefferson supported the idea that every generation should change/write their own constitution. madison wanted the constitution to be venerated/hard to change. ron paul would be a mix of both, but philosophically he leans more toward jefferson, and i would say james madison for rand. james madison compromised to get constitution ratified, in order to get the grand tasks done. jefferson and madison are not clones and they had disagreements, but without either, the republic wouldn't exist. you bashing on rand exposes your own ignorance of the founding of this country. nothing more.
This is an old article.
Raimondo has been since proven wrong about Rand Paul.
Justin Raimondo
is one paranoid girl.
We do see the possible DANGER looming, when AIPAC starts
moving its corrosive fingers towards Rand P. They see his popularity rising rapidly and feel the need to swallow him into their flocks of Wall St / Israel-firsters, like Obama, both Clintons, Palin, Backmann et al. Remember how Rahm E and the Cheneys tried so hard to discredit him at the primary?
When the elites are so concerned about his ascendency, and possibly preparing to RIG the election, it proves how worthy Rand is in our fight against the status quo. Rand is by far a better liberty candidate than Jack C, who is for ObamaCare and pro-FED RES bills etc. Rand is for stronger Constitutional Self Defense and limited government.
We will redouble our support for Rand AND Ron Paul. Rather than being a 'hollow man', we are betting that Rand is growing into a man for all seasons with the heart, inherited from Ron and Carol, in the right place.
"Israel-firsters" sorry, you
"Israel-firsters"
sorry, you lost me there. we really need to encourage a brush up on our vocabulary with phrases like this one. whether you agree or disagree with the content of the phrase, no one really takes this phrase seriously. Calling up your congressman and using the term "Israel-firster" is not going to get you anywhere, and I think the establishment likes us using these phrases just for that purpose. it has the same subjective effect as using the terms "chemtrails" and "frankenfoods".
I am sending $1,000 check to Rands Opponet. I hope he wins.
Justin is not reaching, Justin has nailed this one.
Rand Paul, is a flake.
I saw it on Gitmo, I saw it on the "War on Terror", and I saw it on the Rachael Maddow interview and post discussions.
He's half the man Ron Paul was at the same age.
I am sending a $1,000 check to Rand's Opponent.
I hope he wins.

You are all bravado. Anyone who sides with my friend Justin would not give a penny to a Democrat. Or, maybe you are "konfused."
You are not able to see the wood from the trees. You are easily influenced by the opinions of others. You are emotional, a ready, fire, aim kind of a guy. I could go on.
Did you call Rand to give him hell for talking to the enemy? Why not? Would you like others to misinterpret your actions and not been given a chance to explain yourself? No, of course not. Get real.

This is just rubbish, Justin!
Justin setting up a straw man to bolster his weak arguments:
"Finally, I have to comment on the eerie similarities between the political and personal dynamics of the Paul family and those of the Bush family. In both cases, the son is determined to obliterate the legacy and influence of his father, with Bush Senior (and his aides) opposed to Junior’s unhinged militarism and hostile to his neocon advisors."
I think he is jealous that another Libertarian running under the GOP banner might get elected. Come on Justin, run for office. Show us how it is down in all its purity and perfection. Sometimes these friends of mine go over the top. Yah, just ignore this poorly thought out commentary, so unlike Justin.

for those betting on his genetics
http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/66261.html
It’s hard to believe that Warren’s father, Howard Buffett, was an “Old-Right” (read “libertarian”) congressman from Omaha for a number of years. He distrusted government regulation, the war system, and was generally akin to Sen. Robert Taft’s thinking. Murray — along with others — had great respect for him. Warren’s thinking casts strong doubts on those who believe in a genetic basis for character.

i.e. falling apples can land/bounce/roll quite a distance from the tree.
LMAO ...
Now you are just grasping at straws.
Why do you have such a personal interest in smearing Rand Paul?
You and LibertyLady.
Have we all forgotten the first Boston Tea Party in Thaniel Hall in 2007?
Come on people, he is running a statewide campaign in KY. Of course he is going to cater his message to his constituents. Wouldn't you?
WAHOR!!

Excellent article, hits it right on the money.
Father or not, I've lost some respect for Ron Paul for continuing to support Rand as Rand "spits in his face."
Well, Rand's not my son, and I will do everything in my power to defeat this political harlot.
You are crazy...
... why don't you run for office? Show us how it should be done. Until then, hold your horses.
Live and let live. Be patient. Don't judge the man too harshly, especially on the back of a commentary that was rather weak and cumbersome.
Wait until Rand starts voting in the Senate. If he keeps his voting record as pristine as his father's, which I suspect he will, I have no problems with the subtleties of his current campaign.
We had a shoe-in here in Texas with Debra Medina, until that snake Beck turned an innocent comment into a huge lie. The media turned the lie into Gospel truth and we lost a golden opportunity to change the course of history. Running for office is just a tad more difficult than you might assume, especially considering the powerful reach of mainstream media. Hence, why don't you give it a try. Well have a money bomb for you as well.
Justin thinks Rand met with these idiots to pledge his allegiance. Rather he met with them to call their bluff and to gain valuable insights so that he can share that with newcomers on how these idiots operate and what to watch out for when they run for office - a spying mission, rather than the illusion of surrender that Justin labors under.

Time will tell.
Rand Paul is a human being with individual freedom. Many principled people have been corrupted by power. Just because he is Ron Paul's son doesn't mean he will not go the way of many other senators and congressman. However, I think there is a good chance that he will be able to resist the temptations of power.
I think it will become evident when he is elected and we begin to see his voting record

It's not a good sign
when the corruption sets in even BEFORE one acquires some power.
Not to pick on Rand Paul too much, this is a general problem with our winner-take-all political system. Candidates must fear to express any conviction which might alienate a majority of voters. The system rewards glib liars and penalizes men of principle. Ron Paul is incredibly fortunate in having found a district which favors his principles, without his having to lie about what those principles really are.

Spinning the Rand Paul Disaster
September 23, 2010| News | Justin Raimondo
No sooner did my column on the shortcomings of Rand Paul appear online then Brian Doherty was out with a long blog post on the Reason magazine web site, which starts out:
“I’m already hearing whispers especially from the antiwar libertarian hardcore that a strangely respectful and nuanced profile of the GOP Senate candidate from Kentucky via The New Republic‘s Jason Zengerle in GQ is giving them all the more reason to dislike or fear him.”
Respectful? The article is illustrated with a photo of Rand sitting in what looks like a television studio dressed in a suit and tie from the waist up, and yellow madras Bermuda shorts. He’s wearing dress shoes, and no socks. His face bears the expression of an errant schoolboy who’s been kept after school, his cheeks puffed out like an exasperated blowfish. Zengerles’ kindest description of the candidate, eagerly cited by Doherty, reads as follows:

And now we see why.
Two relatively obscure persons and entities, trying to one up each other, battling for the same zero sum audience.
Tell Kristol, "Move on to your next battle, we got this one."
Why eat bovine ribeye when you can have the real thing?
You would never see this kind of crap from the progressives because they are all vegans. There is something to be said for vegitarianism. By definition, they cannot become cannibals.
Carry on.
P.S. Let us not forget that Ron Paul is trying to apply the principles adopted by the Fabians.... Incrementalism.
God forbid we have a slow path to freedom. If it cannot happen now, I prefer tyranny.
It brings a whole new perspective to the "terrible twos".
I am a parent of a two year old and sometimes I come here to escape while my wife picks up where I left off by teaching my child that "NO means NO" and "You can't always have what you want".
Now I have to choose between the written "terrible twos" and the verbal "terrible twos".
... And let us all not forget that these so called libertarians are advocating violence because they disagree with Ron Paul on this. History shows that the only way to sccessfully achieve a sudden shift in the political environment is via a violent revolution.

It saddens me that the first sign of independent action
It saddens me that the first sign of independent action is labeled terrible. It is wonderful and presents the parent with the greatest challenge they will ever face: "How to nurture individual liberty and promote personal responsibility." What greater good is there?
Some parents will never experience the joy of that moment.
That said, parents are responsible for the child's needs not their wants

Hence ... the quotes.
Having said that ...
These guys are in their fourties or beyond.
Is this their first independant action?
If so, why are people listening to this garbage?

can you say "Oxy ... moron".
Come on, I know you can. Say it with me.

LOL yerself.
Look up the definition of oxymoron. You will find it means the precise opposite of what you intended to say. A good oxymoron is something like "military intelligence" or "Dodge Ram." The word you're looking for is "tautology."

an oxymoron (plural oxymorons or oxymora) is a figure of speech that combines normally-contradictory terms, crafted to reveal a paradox.

The Question Rand needs to ask himself
Is he really a Christian, or just another Deciever? As it now has become apperent, that those who follow AIPAC, who claim themselves to be Christians, all fit this premise, by voting to fight unjust wars. In other words they believe in killing people for political reasons, instead of actual defense of their people from a real threat. Though, our Founder's were not all acclaimed Christians, they did see the basis of 'just war', was the only correct reason to be written in the Constitution. They concluded prior empires who fought wars for political reasons, all collapsed and never regained their stature they once obtained. Some might say it is coincidence, but true Christians will conclude their fate was punishment from the Creator. So, Rand must not only need to decide if he will uphold his oath to the Constitution, but if he will uphold his oath, to who he claims as his Saviour. He may be able to fool the people, but he can't fool the all Knowing.
A Christian...
is pro-life and pro-war... well, the one's I know... there are the exceptions, but they are the one's with an IQ

Just wondering
if anyone else notices that if you look at all the negative PR Rand gets around here, the vast majority of the naysayers are newer members?
It's almost as if they sign up merely post negative articles/comments.
Rand is not a hard-line 100% libertarian. Stop comparing him to one.
"Cede not to malice." - Ron Paul (the REAL thing)
Is this not EXACTLY what Rand is doing when he associates himself (in ANY way) with the likes of Palin, Huckabee, and even CRYSTAL ? Good Lord, what must one see ?
These NeoPauls remind me of the tea partyers. They started out on the right path, but were quickly/easily diverted by the 1st shiny objects that the neocons waved before them.
Next thing you are going to say is ...
Ron Paul does not caucus.
Jesus Christ ...
Ron Paul met with that cross dressing comedian.
He has been on Maddow.
I am sure he has secret meetings with the likes of the communist Barney Frank and Alan Grayson.
He verbally jousted with his opposition in the early years on such a topic as a gold back currency and had respectful things to say about his adversary.
Come on people.
Can we get a little perspective?
