CIA runs 3,000-strong covert army to hunt down al-Qaida in PakistanSubmitted by Tiffanarchy on Fri, 09/24/2010 - 11:25
I found this article from the Times of India today, and was wondering if any of you anti-war, and extra anti-covert war extremists had heard about this.
Not only is this a war most Americans are ignorant of, not only has the US been bombing villages with drones that have killed countless innocent civilians, including children, not only is the CIA operating a *covert* army, but that army is made up of Afghan personnel!
From the article:
"This heavily-armed irregular force manned entirely by Afghan personnel operates in small units called Counter- terrorism Pursuit Teams, the New York Times reported today quoting extracts from a new book 'Obama's wars'(sic) by journalist Bob Woodward."
I have been pretty steamed over the all-but-unannounced Pakistan war since I found out about it (which sadly, was only months ago), but this is just the cherry on the freaking sundae.
