What should Ron Paul do with all this money?

0 votes

I want everyone to post some hair-brained schemes...

Do we really want him to fund the media with it? I think the internet is already a pervasive information source in our culture. It's our job to get everyone to Google Ron Paul. So what should he do with the money?

Here are some crazy ideas:

Crazy Idea 1)
Now that it's fairly clear he can raise money... shouldn't he just give it back?

We can have money bombs every week and keep making them bigger and bigger by recruiting more people to the revolution and he can just keep giving the money back to us so we can keep doing it. It's sorta like what he wouid do with any income taxes we sent him anyway and we'd just keep getting press for the ridiculousness of it. There's a whole bunch of Ron Paul merch to buy with the money too which helps stimulate an economy that recruits more people to come up with more merchandise and grows the Revolution...

Crazy Idea 2)
Donate the money. He could buy 500000 laptops for American Voters who haven't Googled Ron Paul yet because they don't have a computer.

Crazy Idea 3)
Fight Inflation: Do Nothing With it, take it out of the system

Fund the grassroots initiatives

Let's face it. Every single bit of significant media attention Ron has gotten in this campaign has come out of the minds of the grassroots efforts. The money bomb, the blimp, the 2nd money bomb.

The campaign should open a pathway for grassroots supporters to present their ideas and have the campaign fund them. For example, the blimp should have been paid for by the campaign.

Let the supporters come up with the ideas. It's been working very well. Let the campaign pay for them.

I liked the idea of helping the working class...

and the poor.. (which is soon becoming the same as the working class, thanks to the Dollar spiralling downwards~!)

The inner-city computer idea is a great start.
How about doing something for Veterans?
Veterans are suffering SO MUCH these days! Coming home with injuries, being denied medical coverage, not able to work sometimes -- living basically in poverty, for some.

Then again... I really liked it when the GRASSROOTS did these things, as part of support for Ron Paul. You know, donating to food banks etc. I think if it was from the official campaign itself it might be seen as just a PR ploy.

So it would have to be carefully thought out...
maybe NOT designed to get mainstream media coverage (seen as manipulative), but rather for the purpose of letting *the public* know the kind of person Ron Paul is (without any intentional involvement from the mainstream media!)

Designed to let We the People know Dr. Paul is a man of compassion and integrity, who believes ALL PEOPLE are created equal and that have God-given rights which our govt has no authority to take away. (He mentioned exactly that notion on his new Iowa 30-minute commercial)

Crazy Idea 4)

Anti-trust class action lawsuit against news networks. I'm pretty sure that there are laws against massive conglomerated media corporations.

To Win!

He really has to buy media coverage thats the only chance we have reach every one.
And more tell every one that he is a trusty candidate many people fear fast changes want stability, thats why we need videos like the 30 minutes one to IOWA to reach the audience there.

Donate computers and Internet connections to Inner Cities

I do not think Crazy Idea is so crazy:

Detroit, Oakland, Miami, Cleveland inner cities could use "Ron Paul Internet Centers" maybe.

Rent a Bus like the "Grannies" have

get people to volunteer to go around the states for a day on the bus and drum up support. The most effective advertising is word of mouth, keep the bus rolling with fresh supporters of all ages, races.

Privately owned radio

How many privately owned or independant radio stations are out there?

Yessss!!!

Bypass the mediawhores that have refused to give Ron Paul any airtime. I would not give them any money for comercials. Focus on local, independent stations, and I know, you don't get as much bang for your buck. But what else is his choice? Sellout to the Censors?

Hey how about a Ron Paul

Hey how about a Ron Paul Kazzoo band while we'er at it?

hi all this is my nice, i would like to help bring her up in a free country.

The beauty of it is..

the donations are small, but from a vast number of people....the perfect mix! Even with small donations, people are now engaged in the campaign, and will definately vote. We have a dog in this fight (no pun intended for you dog fighters)! We need to see the cash turned into effective advertising in Iowa and N.H. - P.D.Q. Another money bomb in Jan. can be used to blitz super Tues. States

WTF!!

He needs some supporter talent!! That video sucks. I've seen waaaayyy better on youtube!

satellite TV, ethnic newspapers

The best way to get around the MSM is by broadcasting out of foreign countries. Try to get Ron Paul on Al Jazeera and whatever other popular satellite dish stations. Also cable. Bridges TV would be a good target audience. And buy ads in smaller newspapers - much cheaper than the rates for the MSM ads too.

"Try to get Ron Paul on Al Jazeera"

That would sooooooooo be used against him

Al J...

There is an English version of that site too.

Yes, the media would be on that in a NY minute!

It would not hurt if he mentioned civil rights at home

Believe me: we want the Arab oil billionaires or Arab people to see the benefit in libertarianism and to fund it while using their billions to discredit American Left Wing Democrats and Neocons. What better way then to approach the Arab media outlets.

The bottom line is that the leftists and the neocons have been pouring $Billions into trying to get Muslims to think their way. Why not try to spend a few hundred thousand giving the Muslim people a third concept of western thought?

We don't want Al Jazeera to become a voice for Hillary Clinton do we?

We could let them know that they can "defeat neocons" in the minds of the rest of the world, not with bombs and violence, but by ridiculing the US Republican and Democratic parties and the US Congress as it has been recently: out of control and anti-individual.

They could then help us save ourselves from ourselves...with rhetoric instead of violence.

I agree that putting an anti-war message on Al Jazeera would badly hurt RP at home, but it would not hurt to court the Muslim media on how the neocons are taking our rights away at home, as long as one does not talk about seemingly pro-terrorist issues like the Free the Guatanamo Prisoners issue and holding Jose Padilla because he wanted to build a dirty bomb.

If the Muslim world started to effectively criticize American democracy for its real shortcomings, without coming across like they want us to just stop fighting their radicals, it could have a huge effect.

Take, for instance, the essay I wrote today:

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/14621

What would happen if Al Jazeera were to effectively broadcast to the world that American Republicans and Democrats no longer believed in the rights of indviduals to remain anonymous?

Ron Paul could change the world if he turned lots of Muslims into Libertarian conservatives.

natural to be a libertarian conservative

p.s. -- it's quite a natural thing for Muslims to be "libertarian conservative". fits right in with Islamic teachings. :-) (despite what the msm says)

Find out how "entangling alliances" interfered with the rights, and honor, of these U.S. Navy sailors from the USS Liberty www.ussliberty.org

they already DO criticize the West legitimately

the Muslim world already DOES criticize the western world in legitimate ways for it's shortcomings... they focus on policy/govt institutions, not on the American people. (The Arabs/Muslims just love the American people!! though they think we are ignorant to allow what's going on to continue)

Anything touted to the contrary is only the view of a few Arab/Muslim extremists, and (more often) just more old, corporate media propaganda hiding the truth.

Sounds like some here are familiar with Al Jazeera. If you watch the English edition you'll find that they have in-depth *investigative* reporting and are not prone to slandering, sound-bytes, etc.

An example: the other day they did a full piece re the Venezuela referendum... they poked fun at the American mainstream media for acting like it was a 1-issue referendum rather than the 69 issues that were on the referendum! And they pointed out the fallacious reporting that the line item to end term limits would mean Hugo Chavez would control as a dictator, in power for decades to come! But the Al Jazeera reporter noted that even had this item passed, there would still be elections... plus he observed that it is hypocritical for the European press to cry "dictatorship" when some of the European Union countries already have unlimited terms for the presidency! They ended with the comment that if Chavez were really a dictator, he would have just refused to accept that the item did not pass, instead they showed him congratulating the opposition.
(Whether or not you like Chavez, it's the investigative reporting & discussing different angles, in detail, that is relevant here)

If Al Jazeera did a piece on Ron Paul, it would be in the homes of (at least) hundreds of thousands of Americans, plus TENS OF MILLIONS of people all over the world!

Not only that, but if the US mainstream media dared to complain about it in their *headline news* they would be giving a heck of a lot of coverage to Ron Paul, not to mentioning piquing Americans' curiosity about Al Jazeera itself! (now, I don't think they want to do that...)

I have already written to Al Jazeera requesting they do a show on Ron Paul (or even an interview if Dr. Paul would agree). They do shows on candidates & politicians from many countries including in Europe, why not Dr. Paul?

Primetime infomercial

Ron Paul should do a nationwide primetime infomercial on a major TV network.

Endorphine burn

#1 Do exactly what he has been doing - just more of it!

#2 Do exactly what you have been doing - just more of it!

You said you wanted hairbrained - and more than 100% qualifies.

You folks are absolutely fantastic and the message is spreading. Keep it up and feel the endorphine burn like a marathon runner. Then catch the second wind and keep going.

How about an anti media gimmick. They are oh so friendly towards Ron, lets turn the tables.

Ron Paul places your name on a Liberty Campaign Memorial, (real or virtual), when you cancel your MSM oriented cable, satellite, newspaper and magazine subscriptions and donate one month of the savings to the campaign.

Michigan Radio

I heard my first Ron Paul commercial on the radio during my drive into work this morning. It was about his position against NAFTA and similiar treaties. This is a great topic to hammer on in Michigan where we have lost ten of thousands of manufacturing jobs.

Keep em coming Dr. Paul!

I think the 1st idea does

I think the 1st idea does cost something because a percentage of donations is probably going to the merchant account. Online merchant accounts usually charge a small percentage such as 1-3% depending on the amount raised. A small percentage, but adds up to a lot when doing business in the millions.

RP cash

My #1 pick is a prime time infommercial. Surely he could spend the amount of money these companies are paying to sell salad shooters and diet pills. Heck, just an infommercial with the top YouTube vids would be highly effective.

Anything that would get word out to the masses of how the corporate msm is squelching and smearing this campaign.

Get a decent polling

One that covers first time voters, young voters, cell phones, so on.
I think the cost/benefit may be quite low and worth it! It will be good to know where we stand and our weaknesses so we have time for some corrections. We got the money for this and much more.

commission polls vs. Democrats, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly.

"...a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people." -John F. Kennedy

Seriously though...

He'll just keep spending it on traditional media buys, we've got his back on all other areas. Every dollar contributed to RP is like 5 to any other candidate. His frugal, lean running campaign will allow him to out advertise any of the other top tier candidates and *we* are the grass roots network the other candidates can only dream of.
One other thing; please stop bashing the campaign staff, you only make yourself look foolish. This new online world is very different from traditional campaigning and it's going to take an all out assault on ALL media for the message to get saturation. There are more people in this country without Online acccess than there are that have it.

money

This money needs to go toward advertising because the Ron Paul campaign does need to attract some of the viewers of MSM. The money needs to be turned into votes. MSM only talks about the money but not the fact that his campaign has real support and will have real votes. Time to focus on votes!!! Let's work on getting votes. I already got 11 people to vote in Pa. for him - I got people to vote who never voted and really don't care about politics. I got them voter applications and I am going to take the day off from work for the primaries and I am going to take them to their place of voting and then I know they will vote and won't forget about it. So I would like everyone to start thinking about the VOTE!!!
Gloria

Hire Reliable Staff

Ron Paul needs analysts, investigators, lawyers and whatever other type of honest reliable watchdogs it takes to watch the Votes. If we really have this much grassroot support from the public at large, the votes will come. The power elite will rigg the election. It is that simple.
As to handing this money to the very same media organizations that will not give Ron Paul the time of day, makes me puke!

Done.

We're already reliable, "the revolution". All the things listed are already being done or will be done by us for no cost. ie ronpaul graphs, delegates, etc.
