Laundry Press Required. Seems that the "Anti-Counterfeiting" created in irony so great, even the US Treasury notices something is amiss with this note. Even the US Treasury recognizes the puzzlement of counterfeiting Counterfeit Legal Tender.

====== the Federal Reserve, Official Press Release =======
Friday, October 1, 2010 Press Release

For Immediate Release.

The Federal Reserve Board on Friday announced a delay in the issue date of the redesigned $100 note.

This new design incorporates cutting edge, anti-counterfeiting technologies and the Federal Reserve imposes strict quality controls to ensure that users of U.S. currency around the world receive the highest quality notes.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing manufactures Federal Reserve notes and has identified a problem with sporadic creasing of the paper during printing of the new $100 note, which was not apparent during extensive pre-production testing. As a consequence, the Federal Reserve will not have sufficient inventories to begin distributing the new $100 notes as planned.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is working to resolve this problem, and the Federal Reserve Board will announce a new issue date for the redesigned $100 note as soon as possible. The originally scheduled issue date was February 10, 2011.

That video needs an imbed.

I'm glad I finally caught this one.

Many great references too.

I lost about $70 bucks today by neglectance.

And sheer stupidity. Just like that. The 50 euro note must have slipped out of my pocket somehow. I didn't carry it in my wallet, like I should have..

It still pisses me off, I never lost that much money before in my life. Watch out with paper money, before you know it's gone with the wind.

Ye Olde Euro: Speaks no language; not even money.

Fortunately you did not lose money at all.
You lost legal tender... Pretend money at its worst.

They say they need a special machine to sort the bills.

Why not just auction them all off and say the bad ones are no good in circulation, but the collectors market would love to have them and then nobody needs to worry about burning the defects.

All kidding aside, Your idea has merit. Sell the Counterfeit!

In fact. even my postcard here with no kidding could one day be more valuable for its lack of humor.

A novelty.

Hang them out to dry.

Sell them out right.

They will generate their own interest!

I do not jest my friend. (in this case, i mean)

There is a large market for bills with errors in them. I had a friend that always looked over his money for mistakes. I tried to Google info on the subject but the results came up skewed do to the most recent screw up.

Think about though. you could end up on the good or bad side of it. you pay full price for 10 $100 bills and you get 3 bad ones. the three bad ones are most likely still worth something to collectors, just not $100 or maybe they will become worth more say 120. But alas this would dilute the market with bills of error. The reason why they are so collectible is they are so rare b/c the fed prides its self on creating flawless money.

The Fed Has a $110 Billion Problem with New Benjamins
On Monday December 6, 2010, 9:09 am EST

A significant production problem with new high-tech $100 bills has caused government printers to shut down production of the new notes and to quarantine more than one billion of the bills in huge vaults in Fort Worth, Texas and Washington, DC, CNBC has learned.

Initially scheduled for release in February of 2011, the new bills were announced with great fanfare by officials at the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve in April.

At the time, officials announced the new bills would incorporate sophisticated high-tech security features, including a 3-D security strip and a color-shifting image of a bell designed to foil counterfeiters.

But the production process is so complex, it has instead foiled the government printers tasked with producing billions of the new notes.

An official familiar with the situation told CNBC that 1.1 billion of the new bills have been printed, but they are unusable because of a creasing problem in which paper folds over during production, revealing a blank unlinked portion of the bill face.

"A significant production problem with new high-tech $100 bills has caused government printers to shut down production of the new [Anti-Counterfeiting] notes and to quarantine more than one billion of the [same suspicious] bills in huge vaults in Fort Worth, Texas and Washington, DC...

.. bills would incorporate sophisticated high-tech security features, including a 3-D security strip and a color-shifting image of a bell designed to foil OTHER counterfeiters.

[Not metal foil like used when cooking potatoes, just figurative foil... Used when cooking books)]

But the production process is so complex, it has instead foiled [cooked books] the government printers tasked with producing [... pause for a deep breath...] billions of the new [Anti-Counterfeiting] notes.

An official familiar with [counterfeiting, admitted] the new bills have been printed, but they are unusable because of a creasing problem in which paper folds over during production, revealing a blank unlinked portion of the bill [of credit, eviscerating Ben Franklin's earnest portrait] face.

... as many as 30 percent of the bills [of credit (aka: cash)] rolling off the printing press included the flaw [at no extra charge], leading to the production shut down."

"There is no free lunch," but the flaw in Anti-Counterfeiting cash is free!
