A winning RP Team

I do have something to say, anyone cares to listen. Perhaps I am like you? Perhaps like you, you have been a board member, say on a Little League organization, so you know Politics is Politics. Even when a little league book has a Constitution and a book of Rules, everyone “knows baseball” and knows kids better than you do. People just love to disagree on the smallest of details. Like Bill Clinton said at his speech at Harvard recently, "We need to focus on our commonalities, not our differences". Yes, I agree with Bill Clinton, but don’t shoot me yet.

You see I also agree with Rudy Guiliani, Senator Mike Gravel, Denis Kucinich, John Edwards, Richardson and even Mitt Romney…on at least two issues if not a whole lot more.

Perhaps like me and you run a successful business. I have owned a successful multimillion dollar Real Estate Company for 26 years and I have made a personal fortune buying & selling land investments, still do. So you know just like me, you khow important Persuasion is, and perhaps like me, you know how important it is to be on a winning team. You know its true. People cast their votes with that mentality, so don’t fight it, work with it. As corny as all that winning team talk is, it WORKS again and again. I suspect the slaves followed the Pharaohs because they thought they were on the winning team. So, I am not surprised that Mr. Mitt Romney, who as a personal $350 million dollar fortune, “ASKS” in the sweetest way possible, for republicans to please join him on the MITT TEAM. And you must admit, Mitt looks like the star quarterback and many will want to "be on his team", just because of that. Ronald Reagan gave that star Quarterback feeling too. Infact, I heard surveys of Reagan's supporters disagreed on the issues 70%, but backed him anyway.

Well I am a diehard Paulie. At the age of 18, thanks to a lengthy Penthouse interview on Ed Clark (you can only look at the pictures so long), I voted for him and then voted for Ron Paul in ’88. So I have been around and I do have something to say, if you would care to listen.

I believe people will want to join us, only if we must reach out to them AGAIN AND AGAIN to join our team. We should aggressively and happily find TWO points of agreement –that’s all it takes, and focus on that and welcome them with happy open arms. Tell them we are an eclectic “friendly bunch of underdogs with a Thomas Jefferson on our Team” and leave it at that.

We cannot come off as the "tin foil hate government crowd", "the conspiracy behind every bush crowd", "the puritans of principle" or the "holier" than everyone else. Be very aware not to fulfil the liberal view of us as closet racists, gun toting rednecks, and “leave me alone” antisocial types, who "don't give a dam about anyone".

We may be guilty of saying those things in despiration, but truly we
love our Country, Constitution and we love freedom for EVERYONE. We CARE, never say we don't. Forinstance, we want to abolish the Income tax...so we can watch caring charities spring up everywhere. We want to end the income tax and watch American companies RETURN to the USA to produce again, giving us all good jobs. Ending the income tax, will bring Charity and kindness, and lots of new business and wonderfully paying jobs to America. Take away a government function, but show what we will get in return!

The TEAM needs to be a HAPPY WINNING TEAM and we should all just LAUGH at OURSELVES as one big ECLECTIC bunch..... We must be the winning kind of people, the kind of people that others can see as happy and eclectic enough to include someone like them.

So here it is, I suspect Ron Paul's liability will come from not what he says or does or does not do, but from what We say, what We do or what We not do. Lets always remember the GOAL LINE: GET OTHER TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES FOR RON PAUL. Type this goal out, past it to your computer screen on a sticky note-before you enter an Obama blog. Get warm bodies to be vote for Ron Paul in the Primaries. Advice them when you are registering for the first time as a Republican, taking Pepto Bismal stops the puking reflex. Tell them “9/11” changed everything and share a laugh. Share some laughs. That’s it. That’s the goal. This is not about LP education, teaching about the finer points of the Constitution, not about Neocons, not about Dick Cheney, not about abolishing this or that. As a team member of the Ron Paul Grassroots campaign, we are all about getting WARM bodies, thousands of warm bodies to JOIN our TEAM.

Still with me? Want to hear more? Who should we be INVITING over to our BIG TENT? It has been pointed out several times that the Ron Paul Campaign is a bottom up, grass roots movement. Thus how we in the grassroots carry ourselves WILL be crucial for RP success in getting other Republicans, Independents, Greens, and Democrats to get behind Dr. Paul.

When reaching out, we do not need to be or "Perfect Paulies". We should never ever call other team players as "loonies, crazy, wack jobs, nut cases, losers, evil, commies, Nazis," etc. Never. Those people are our customers.

STEP ONE: It is our job to find politically active people. That’s easy enough. Others who back other candidates are easy to find. So engage them already!

STEP TWO: Ask questions and more questions, then select just TWO things they do happen to Agree on with RON PAUL. Disregard all other issues as important, but not as important as the two (or 3 or 4) issues you already AGREE on. Ignore the rest.

STEP THREE: Take your time over days and weeks. Show him/her that HERE is TWO things (or 3 or 4 things) you agree on with RON PAUL on.

STEP FOUR: “Always be closing” the deal with a friendly invitation: “Please Join this winning team of underdogs! We happen to have a modern day Thomas Jefferson in Dr. Ron Paul. Come on, please join the Ron Paul team”.

(The underlying message is that Thomas Jefferson is a better Quarterback than your Quarterback and we are a winning team. Underdogs CAN WIN, and everyone wants to feel they contributed to the winner).

STEP FIVE: Repeat steps 1, 2, 3 & 4.

We are the Team.... So lets talk what this team must do to grow a thousand fold.

Lets talk Team.

How do political Teams do "battle"? Many Paulies seem to think its like a hand to hand shouting combat, pushing signs ahead of the Mitt signs. It is not. The fact is that political teams get swallowed up by SEDUCTION, yes friendly seduction by other teams. Doubt me? Just watch and feel the seduction once the GOP has picked say Mitt. The whole GOP, needing warm bodies to beat Hillary in the General Election, will turn to us, very friendly of course, point out two issues we agree on and then tell us to join their winning team and Quarterback. They will say there is the Hillary Team---you are not one of them are you?!!" They will attempt to add all the republican teams and organizational leaders. That’s how the game is played.

Lets start Playing “contact. The individual Teams we should be absorbing into our fold, and under our big RP umbrella is the Gravel Team and the Kucinich team. Absorbing these two anti war groups is crucial. There are not many Gravel supporters over there on the democratic side. But like you and I, they are very dedicated to him. They are carrying his flag high as they can, yet getting so little respect and attention.
We need the Gravel Team. It is time for the Gravel team members to join us. Listen to Randi Rhodes interview him here:

http://www.gravel2008.us/?q=node/1516

Watch former Senator Mike Gravel talk about what Ron talks about here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCkgFr7CACY&mode=related&search=
And here he is speaking "Truth to Power" at the DNC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fAmhXMHIk8

...all the democratic voters got a good lecture. I for one, fully loved it.

I can find MANY points of agreement with the Senator Gravel and Denis Kucinich.
Can you? Sure with your razor sharp political ears, you can spot something not so good, but this is about getting more warm bodies on our TEAM winning the GOP nomination RACE. There is no time to quibble. Follow the five steps above.

We need Gravel's team, to registar Republican and vote for Ron Paul. That is our goal. Nothing else, ...we are not to CHANGE anyone's opinion, period,...our only goal is to get other Team members to Join the RP team. Thats it. No educating, no lecturing, no splainin', and certainly NO DISAGREEING. Just do the Milton Friedman Smile, do the Milton Friedman laugh along, and point out "Here's where we agree, and with YOUR help we can get this done" Thats the "Money Phrase" in politics.

The bottom line is getting RP supporters. Raiding other unsuccessful teams, teams full of passionate people who CARE about this country. So don’t quibble about details, just find two issues at least.

Now about how Ron Paul and his supporters are VIEWED by other teams.

Ron on the left is accused of being a Racist and his supporters are characterized as Crack Pots, Tin Foil hats with Conspiracies, etc. All this mud slinging needs to be “Water off a ducks back”. Ron is not a Racists, we in the grassroots are not crazie loonies. Simply reply that you fail to see any racism in RP and fail to see any conspiracy. Then say you don’t wish to mud sling like the Hanities, the Ann Coultures, the Rush Limbaughs…etc. Tell them you just are delighted to learn we agree on these 2, 3, 4 points. Again, take it to Step 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. If they are mean when you are nice, continue being nice. At the most just say, “How very clever, that was like a very mean Hanity, Limbaugh, Ann Coulter remark, but like Bill Clinton says, we should focus on the fact we are Americans, living under the Constitution, and we have more in common than we have differences”.

We must do this quickly. Thousands of us must reach out to the Gravel Team. And Thousands of us must reach out to the Kucinich team too and even the NM governors supporters and even Edward supporters. Lets get them to “drink the pink stuff so you won’t throw up, and registar Republican just to vote Ron Paul”

Thousands of us must reach out to the Romney team, the Huckabee team. One thing is for sure, the GOP and media is not behind them. Then there are the Thompson supporters. They are liking Ron Pauls message, yet NOT joining our team because of the war issue and more than anything, the perception that we Paulies are a bunch of loosers. With our smiling emails, and happy assurances we can pick away each and every Thompson supporter….the reason is the Thompson supporter looks to the Quarterback more than anything else. Just assure them that we have the Thomas Jefferson Quarterback. Remind them about Ron Paul’s tactic to get Bin Laden.

You could explain strategy to democratic supporters. Tell them that a Anti-war Ron Paul VS a Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Richardson ticket, would mean that Hillary and the rest would move LEFT on the issue of War. Tell them they could always vote democrat in the General Election anyway”. Tell them, its better for THEIR own cause and concerns, that Ron Paul be the GOP nominee. Then Step 4, Invite them to join our RP team. Tell them you will pay the price of the Pepto Bismal…lol.

Impossible? I think not. Paulies are a smart, intellectual and savy bunch. But we must get many people to join us in just a few short months. We must do this if we are to have a BIG tent. The bottom line is the Republican Tent, whats left of it, is full of Neocon War Hawks. Its all war for them. They will sell out every Conservative value rather than "Cut n Running". There are not enough Constitutionalists, Libertarians, Goldwater Republicans left in the Party: We need Democrats to join us. So deal with their issues! Listen to their issues. Don’t answer their issues, yes avoid that temptation. Find two issues of agreement, then work with that to CLOSE THE DEAL.

Avoiding RP

They are avoiding RP at all costs.

"The Truth Shall Set You Free"

It doesn't take long to get to know RP.

Movie Reviews & Ron Paul

Movie Producers put millions and millions into the making of a movie. They try to get the big name actors because they know name recognition is the name of the game. The script is secondary, even to the directors' fame. Alot of money all rides on the success or failure of a movie in the OPENING TWO WEEKS. Why is that? That is because we humans are like a school of fish. So the fish that see the movie in the first two weeks end up determining where the rest of the fish will go. And that is a smart and wise thing, not a bad thing. Infact, its a selfish time saving thing. I myself do not go to the movies "unless its really good". How do I know its good? Because one of my friends who I trust or my favorite movie reviewer, "suggested it" to me. Example, years ago there was so much hype about "showgirls". But I never saw it because those who did see it, where giving thumbs down. The producers all lost money. That is why they wait with baited breath "opening week".....They worry and worry "will they be telling their friends about it?" In fact, they even promote movies with fake movie goers who "just saw" the movie and are excited about it!

Something similar should be done with people after leaving an hour long Ron Paul speech. (video hint)

And that is what you are. Yes that is what Paulies are. Infact that is what all of us in the campaigns right now are. We are the ones "seeing the movie" until January. We are seeing the movie now. The rest of the public will simply wait for all of us to battle it out. Thats why its nasty. Thats why I am worried that nobody is being nasty to us (cause if we were a threat, they would).

Ok Paulies, we must roll up our sleeves! Our time is now, not January. We either win this thing now before December, swallowing up all the second tier supportes trensetters and GROW STRONGER, or we give them away to the top tier candidates and grow weaker.

Come January, the movie is over and we walk out of the primaries in the first 4 states, The primary results are announced and two people are on their way to the white house political campaign, to "battle it out" in the General election.

That means we are the trend setters. We are the ones who battling. Ron Paul's job is just to show up, speak, be himself. But the Campaigning, that is ALL US. The attack ads must start now. We need to mix it up - with sugar and the 5 steps outlined above. Its all out persuasian time NOW. Sign makers, Start Making RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT. Get his face somewhere on the poster. The Revolution thing is great too, but a second campaign poster is needed.

Remember, the typical General Election voter will not care until he or she has her final two choices. Thats when he or she will spend a day or two "thinking" about their popular vote. We need the type who GETS into a campaign. Like playing some video game, ....a Ron Paul win of a Huckabee campaigner is like winning 1000 General Election voters. Same with winning a Kucinich, or Gravel or Obama supporter...it wins us 1000 General Election voters. And guess what, the only people paying close attention are these valuable people inside the campaigns of other candidates. Leave your General election friends alone. You know who they are, they are not motivated to DO anything or even say anything.

We Paulies know in our hearts there is no General Election for us. This is it. If Ron Paul is not in the General Election, I am sorry, I am not going to be "borged" into supporting Romney or Guiliani or Thompson or even Obama. So our time, is Right now. We have exactly 4 months, we must concentrate. We must take Daily and nightl action. We must raid the other campaigns supporters, talk to them, get them to join us. Why them? Because they are the trend setters. They are worth a 1000 points. They by themselves will bring in many more to our campaign, if they come. As my mother says, sugar attracts more bees than salt. So be sweet, but go for the kill. Drain other campaigns of their supporters. Any campaign that comes in behind in Staw Polls is fair game.

Look, when John McCain's supporters fell away, we needed to be right there, collecting them up and welcoming them to the RP campaign. Did any join us? Frankly I am at fault here myself. I live in Arizona! But did nothing. Should a woulda coulda... Oportunity lost? Maybe, maybe not. He is still out on the immigration issue, but memories are short.

When you are trying to be effective with your time, think of those in the Huckabee camp, the Thompson camp and the Tancredo camp....and bring them on board with us. Where are these people? Find them, we want them. Get to know our opposites sort to speak, who are campaigning for the other team. We want them on our team. They are the trensetters. We are the trensetters. We need all the trendsetters as we can get. And don't frieght the General Election voter. We need the politically motivated types, the ones who bring over the General Election voter.

Videos are very viral and very effective. Personal one on one phone calls are even better. Always close the sale with an invitation to join us....join us underdogs having fun winning with our Thomas Jefferson quarterback.

Please pass the word around about the YouTube Video contest. Such videos are very effective and will bring trensetters over to our team. I think if we do this, we will move to the next level of expenential growth in our campaign. I believe Ron Paul will be the most surprise of any of us...such is the power of exponential growth.

More words of wisdom and strategy....

Keep the message going, Trey....keep elaborating and fine-tuning it. Great ideas breed more ideas. We are a very creative group of underdogs.

I was going to make a new

I was going to make a new post, but this seems like a good spot since we're talking about making good impressions.

I'm pretty uneasy with the whole "re-LOVE-ution" concept, and similarly but less uneasy with "peace, LOVE, and freedom". It kinds of seems like a retro pacifist/hippie/flower child thing and I think it can and will scare off conservative voters. What's the point of it? I don't take a RP's non-interventionist foreign policy to be anything like hippie "I love you man" pacifism.

We can try to absorb more democrats into the RP camp (and we should), but we also need to convert the republican partisans who are uneasy with the anti-war message. I think people are willing to see the logic in it, but they will turn away if they think it's based on hippie pacifism as opposed to logic and tradition constitutional/American principles.

LOVE

I belong to many conservative fraternities and organizations in an exceptionally liberal hippy area and I can tell you in all honesty, there is more LOVE between the conservatives than the liberals. I sign my letters, "Love, your fraternal sister", and liberals sign theirs "hugs", "peace out", and "best", more often than not. I have yet to have a liberal tell me LOVE, so with that I LOVE the LOVE in the rEVOLution, for as I sign my letters to my Meetup reEVOLutionaires, Love, because there's no rEVOLution without it. LOVE takes heart, mind, and GUTS. I see that everywhere in the Ron Paul rEVOLution.

This company http://www.northernsun.com/ sells bumper stickers that back up the Ron Paul rEVOLution. I ordered 20 "Support your local revolution" stickers from them to give to my Meetup rEVOLutionaries, and I wrote to them asking" "Why aren't you supporting Ron Paul?" They have Obama tees. They responded that I was the second person to ask. Well...check out their stuff and ask them yourselves why they are not joining the Ron Paul rEVOLution...maybe they will???? Rockin for Ron Paul 08

Obama's Crowd

If the rumors are true that Hillary will select NM Governor Bill Richardson for VP, can you Paulies imagine and FEEL the pain, anger and disappointment that the average Obama supporter will feel? Obama supports, like Ron Paul supporters, love their candidate. Many are touched by his wonderful presence and his JFK-like speeches. If the Rumors are true, and the DNC "once again" passes over their black candidate, can you put yourself in their shoes for just one minute?

Jesse Jackson's Rainbow coalition, who energized the Democratic base, was shocked and devistated that Jesse was not Bill Clinton's pick for VP, ...someone named Al Gore, who did not even run, got the nod. Pissed? You bet they where.
The disgust and anger that they felt was as deep.

You will feel no different if Ron Paul does not win the GOP Primaries!! So dem-haters, you have something in common, now go be friendly. Think how PAINFUL and BITTER you will feel if that happens.

Think how you will feel when the Thompson crowd tries to get the Paulies to join them ...think of your resentment! When Fred Thompson talks about the Constitution --To YOU, (what nerve!) you know he is JUST SAYING THAT sh*t to SUCK you back into the GOP.

Back to the Obama crowd, ....They already Hate Hillary, hate the war, so we should be talking to them on blogs, you tube, emails and any way we can. Yes, we Paulies KNOW Obama is Not ANTI WAR, but THEY DO NOT ---so leave well enough alone. Work the civil rights issues, the war issue, and be FRIENDLY....

BE AWARE of your own stereotype as a selfish closet racist "who doesn't care".

Be there for them, be there for them when they find out the DNC has SOLD THEM OUT AGAIN, ----- indeed, the sooner they learn this the better.......GET THEM to join us because Ron Paul is Anti war, pro civil rights --as in (life, liberty and property of all individuals regardless of color or creed or sexual orientation or religious affiliation, etc.). Again, remember how they will feel, think how you would feel, and DO NOT LET THEM GET ABSORBED by the Hillary Machine.

Reach out to them, with THAT goal in mind.

Now I wish to add, why am I telling Paulies to focus their time on other Team supporters? Because of what marketing studies tell us. Team supporters are opinion leaders. They are the ones who "see the movie in the first two weeks" and then tell their friends. They are the ones who people ...sheeple...will follow.

Get the OBAMA crowd behind RON PAUL's primary bid, and Ron Paul is unstoppable.

The Obama crowd is ON THE INTERNET. You can TALK to them. REMEMBER, psychological studies tell us that all people only need TWO issues to agree on, and then LIKE the PERSON.... and they will support you for President. THAATTSSS IT folks.

So get out there..... Start the FRIENDLY hello's to the Obama crowd.... They HATE hillary, they HATE the WAR....and they will HATE the DNC when Obama is not Hillaries VP choice.

(You and I know that cold hearted Hillary will look at the "black vote" vs the "latin vote" and choose Richardson; its all about numbers to her....... is it to you?)

Key Strategy to Involve Obama Supporters

Trey007's thoughts regarding the Obama campaign are very important to consider. The antagonism between Obama and Hillary is growing and may eliminate Obama as a VP candidate. Thus, where will the idealistic, energetic Obama people go? We can give them a new direction, as Trey007 suggests. Everybody reread his original post.

We must avoid at all costs antagonizing the Obama people. We must focus on our common aversion to Hillary. We must also reach out to them in terms of our common goals of opposing war and protecting the rights of all Americans. This is key to building our momentum to a point that we will overwhelm the competition.

This is such an important message...

Once again, Trey007, I want to register my appreciation for the thought and energy that you put into your article. I have been referring people to it from other sites, and I am recommending that everyone do the same.

I think that you have done us and Dr. Paul a great service in taking time to share your expertise with us.

Building our team

A lot of good advice. As far as offering Ron Paul to followers of Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich, It is worth remembering that it never hurts to talk to people, and after all, you might even pick up a Paul supporter or two, but it must be remembered that they are, after all, Democrats, with all the prejudices against the free market, hard money, and private property we favor and that socialists around the world (including American left-wing Democrats) are notorious for their intense opposition.

In addition, they, like many liberal Democrats, are quite likely to have difficulty with issues such as gun-control (prohibition), Government imposed race and gender-based quotas which liberals champion in the name of "fairness" ,and other features that would be almost as abhorrent to libertarians, paleoconservatives, and Constitutionalists who support Dr. Paul, as the odious wars and foreign policy in which we are united in common ground with them against.

Perhaps a better source of supporters might be those websites and blogs which show a high disaffection with the choices offered, a sound distrust of BOTH parties and their policies, and where "a choice, not an echo", would indeed be welcomed. Supporters of Gravel and Kucinich already have their favorites, and their choices should be respected. It is not to say that we shouldn't avail ourselves of opportunities (if they wish) to work with them on issues (like repeal of the Patriot act, or Impeachment of President Bush and VP Cheney) outside the Paul for President campaign.

PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

Health Care

For the health care issue, try first to decifer if indeed that is their #1 concern, more than our soldiers in Iraq, more than free speech, more than anything. If it is number one for them, tell them you saw this something on 60 minutes that has caused you to stop and think; http://youtube.com/watch?v=paNRv---Adw and then you saw this very heart felt video on line here http://youtube.com/watch?v=aE-I0ombIEY called "dead meat" and now you want to get the "other point of view" written by two brilliant Doctors:

Edward R Annis, MD.: Code Blue; Health Care in Crises
Dr. David Gratzer: The Cure: How Capitalism can Save Health Care

Dr Edward Annis is amazing to listen too, seek out his speeches.. can anyone find them?

Everyone should take this to heart.

A very well said post on how we can win. If everyone does this everyday, we can't lose.

Your advice works

I too work in real estate and am using similar tactics (scripts, essentially) to turn people on to Ron Paul. It works! I can't emphasize enough the importance of listening and to boning up on Ron Paul basics. I am fortunate to have known about Dr. No for years and am familiar with his principles. Even so, I always invite people to check him out for themselves. I send them websites. And then, as any good real estate agent would do, I follow up later if it's someone I know.

It is most helpful to know something about the other candidates on both sides as well. I've been "drinking the pink stuff" and doing so in order to properly address hot button issues.

The anti-war crowd is disgusted at the moment so it's prime time to work on them.

Doing a good job Libertee

I'm in real estate too Libertee and sometimes cautious about linking polotics to biz, but do it a fair amount anyway as this is too important a time in this country. The two biggest problems I encounter, aside from name recognition (by the way, I know RP will be elected when 8 of 10 people know who he is when I ask), is people don't like Repub's right now (can't blame them) and especially the health care issue. They think that is the answer and too important of an issue to be ignored. Of course, I'm a natural healther and definitely know that health care will finish this country off faster than anything else. Thoughts?

Bob W., Naples, FL

Bob W., Naples, FL

I'm cautious too BUT...

...my thoughts are that freedom is apolitical; thus I have bumper stickers on my car, literature in my car, a button on my purse, and I wear my "Choose Liberty" wristband which is an excellent conversation starter. With one exception (long story), I do not bring up politics. But if someone asks, or if someone mentions a hot button topic for which Ron Paul has the answer, the door is open. As you said, this is too important a time in our country.

If someone objects to the republican label, my script goes something like this: "Yes, Ron Paul is running as a republican and I don't blame you, I don't like the republicans either. Ron Paul isn't about party labels, he's about individual liberty, peace and prosperity. He is beholden only to the constitution, and he has a 10-term congressional voting record to prove it. But don't take my word for it, check him out for yourself. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll send you some links".

Now, I know that's not the typical "close" but it's been effective for me. Most recently, one of my clients told a home inspector that she did not argue politics. Later, I apologized for discussing politics with her. She said, "no, I like hearing you talk about Ron Paul. He is really interesting". :) And another client said that she'd seen "my guy" on the debates and they didn't let him talk (and she didn't like it!).

The health care issue is much more difficult and I try to avoid it unless I know someone fairly well. It's better to stick to Trey's advice and find some other points of agreement.

That said, I don't avoid the subject at all. I tailor my script to the individual by asking lots of questions on what they think should happen and why. I usually start by saying, "I couldn't agree more; the health care system is broken and is in need of serious repair. But do you really want the government to tell you what doctor you can see and when? (most people have had awful experiences with the bureacracy of HMOs, emergency room treatment or lack thereof, and pay huge expenses for their one size fits all health insurance so I focus on that). And who is going to pay for nationalized health care? (usually, they haven't thought this through). Ron Paul is a doctor by trade, he understands health care and he has a plan to give all Americans the freedom to choose what we do with our own health. Who better to fix the broken system? I'll send you some information on Ron Paul's plan for health care freedom".

In my opinion, the key is to get people to 1) hear the name and 2) check him out. Lots of times, it's like a kid in a candy shop: once they "receive" the freedom message, they're hooked.

I'd like to hear how you "work" these objections. I am actively seeking ways to improve my delivery of "The Message".

Various ways to talk about RP

It really depends on the person and the time they have to listen. I thnk the commonality issue and specific bullets of his primary stances works best. My way of getting people to ask me about him is this: "I'm taking a survey, have you heard of Ron Paul?" Sadly, to date, most say no. But this gets them thinking that they are missing out on something and immediaely interested. As said earlier, when 8 of 10 people I ask this question to say they know him, I know he'll be elected.....subject to the vote count issues.

Trey's Brilliant, Powerful Strategy for Filling Our Paulie Tent

Pure genius is all that I can say, Trey! Someone needed to say exactly what you said so well! Your point of looking for agreement is exactly what I have been advocating. We have to listen to others. We have two ears and a mouth for a reason. We need to use them proportionately. And, when we open our mouths, we need to use a strategy of persuasion like you describe.

Finding two points of agreement is key. You found my two. I agree. You sold me! :-)

Crib Notes: Join the RP team

1) Find the supporters for other candidates
2) Ask general questions and Listen (never comment)
3) Say, "It sounds like you personally agree with Ron Paul on these 2 or 3 or 4 issues. and SAY NO MORE.
4) Then Send material of RP on those 2 or 3 or 4 issues. Always close the deal with an invitation to join us: Use this one ....

“Please Join a winning team of eclectic underdogs! We are lucky to have a modern day Thomas Jefferson in Dr. Ron Paul. He agrees with you on your positions. Come on, please join the Ron Paul team”. (AND SAY NO MORE)

5) Repeat 1 thru 4 with the next person. Warm bodies voting for Ron Paul in the Primary is our ONLY Goal. Keep smiling, keep moving, and "get rr done".

* Republican/Cons Key: 2nd Amendment, low Taxes, free market
** Democrat/liberal Key: 1st Amendment, Free Speech, Iraq War
*** (abortion, prostitution, Gay Marriage, Gay Adoptions) are issues best handled by the State, not the Feds. Even a Pro Choice person can agree that its best decided locally, even at the County level.
****Greens & Independants: No Man is above the Law, Respecting Property stops pollution, social programs phased out over time "a transition period" will help create a market based solution.

I hope that helps. Treg

good advice

Thank you trey007 for you insight. I feel like a fish out of water when I
talk to people about this. Maybe you could develop a short printable
recipe like card on how to approach people and get Ron's message out.
It could be on this site and others. thanks again

Understand how you feel

It's difficult to just start talking to people, especially if you're on the shy side. I felt exactly like that when I started in real estate a couple of years ago.

You have to use your own personal talents and strengths to talk to people. If you listen in a conversation, many people will bring up hot-button issues (there are a lot of 'em in the news these days) and you can sieze on that and bring up Ron Paul.

I believe it works best one-on-one and even if you're only talking to friends and family, you're helping the cause. And never underestimate the power of one and the ripple or snowball effect that you can help create.

Gravel & Kuchinch teams are ripe for the picking...

Notice on the Alabama Straw Poll for the Democrats, the disrespect to Gravel? Read here:

"Attendees had to sign in to obtain a ballot. Most people voted immediately when they came in. Clark and Gore were not listed on the ballot, but had some write-in votes which were counted. Gravel was inadvertently omitted from the ballot, but no one seemed to notice, or at least no one complained. The people attending are strong Democrats who will almost certainly vote in the primary election, but of course they represent only a portion of primary voters -- probably the ones who are paying the most attention right now."
