Focus Group discussing KY Senate Debate

It's Fox News, and it's Hannity, and it's Frank Luntz, but if you're looking for a quick feel-good moment, check out the vid. :)

(Thanks, KYgopMajor and Sharpsteve-- I saw this buried in a post below but felt it should be bumped to the top.)

big ups to league of women voters for hosting a relatively fair

don't know if this was a personally more favorable format to Rand, but FINALLY, I can say, I'm truly proud.

he bitch-slapped CONway, so many times: loved the "BE A MAN!" "need an interpreter!" liners.

Plus, Rand P0Wnz this debate from the beginning; I knew as soon as it was the 6ft+ CONway that walked over to the 5'7" Rand's podium to greet him and shake his hand before the debate began, it subconsciously communicated to all via body language, who the Pack Leader Alpha Dog was gonna be that night.

seriously, a spoiled rich douchebag, who owns a RACE HORSE, vs. a NON-Career politician, in fact NO POLITICIAN, country doctor?? how can Kentuckyians not see in CONway, the EVERY HIGH SCHOOL DOUCHEBAG, they've ever known?

I literally could not believe my ears as to just how many LIES CONway threw out, hoping just one would stick. Rand, handled most of them nicely. He was focused, and got his message across without stuttering, like CONway, who literally looks like a cat with a mouse in his trap trying to talk in tongue; his teeth barely moved.

Though, as always, not sure if it's a tamed rhetoric, but still do not approve the fact that Rand stated that he would have voted FOR Afghan war/occupation. A plus? He did clarify no nation building.

Though to his credit, if we're being fair and specific he can always state the he would have voted just like his father, as the Doc did vote to ONLY SPECIFICALLY authorize capture/kill those who were responsible for, you-know-what.

I suppose since that authorization still stands, Mossad and CIA & NATO intel better watch out. the slightly evil in me mulls Gitmo & Bagram should remain open until the FED.Res.Heist of 2008, and 9/11 & USS Liberty criminals are caught and fully prosecuted. but, the higher self says, nope.o(

All in all, it was one of the more enjoyable, and informative "debates" in recent memory.

If Rand keeps this up, and Kentuckyian truly find out what Rand REALLY stands for, NOT what CONway lies it to be, he may sail through, laying a more realistic foundation for Dr. Ron Paul to build 2012 Campaign on!

My overall impression of this debate is. . .

that Conway is shrinking tighter and tighter into a ball of litany of I have five points plan for grabbing federal pennies for this & that federal programs and will not balance the budget on the back of seniors. Does CONway really think that SS system is NOT a form of ponzi scheme?!? Or is he only trying to con his way out of the excessive entitlement conundrum with smooth-sounding lawyerly lip-service?

Rand P, on the other hand, gives an objective assessment (with his physician's clear eyes) of economic and social realities of present time in Kentucky and beyond. His approach to face the problems is dynamic and expansive. He is showing himself to be FAR MORE of a statesman and a leader than a measly bureaucratic bean counter, that is his opponent.

Conway reminds me of Nick Naylor

His fake personality and style of argument, even appearance seem to be strongly influenced by the main character of Thank You for Smoking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBELC_vxqhI

The big difference here is that Conway is selling something much worse than cigarrettes--more restrictive and unsustainable government.

First news article about debate

Rand Paul to Jack Conway in Caustic Kentucky Senate Debate: 'Be a Man'

Paul took the road far less traveled in American politics.......

"I will not simply promise the here's the money, it's free, there are no conditions. That's our problem," he said. "Do we want someone who will simply pander? There are consequences to having a $2-trillion debt."

Conway, on the other hand, did make promises. "I'll stand up for northern Kentucky," Conway said, adding that he's against earmark abuse, but would want responsible, transparent earmarks otherwise.

Paul pounced. "You may need an interpreter -- when someone is talking in circles it's hard to understand them. You're for earmarks, right?"

Paul said he would have demanded a declaration of war before sending troops to Afghanistan, and he said he would have voted against going to war in Iraq. Conway segued to Pakistan and Iran before Paul took him to task again.

"Let me interpret for you. He was for the Iraq war before he was against it," Paul said

Ewwww, that conway is such a sleezy con. He is so disingenuous and prerehearsed. His whole schtick in this debate is an attack ad agains rand. He is not talking sensible policy, he is talking smarmy politics and attack ad speak. I particularly barfed when he went on about the poor people he met on the campaign trail who cried on his shoulder blah blah blah. What a creep! This is the exact type of politician that needs to be kicked to the curb.

Rand Paul to Conway: Step up and be a man!

Great stuff!

Conway wrong about there being failed banks in KY

I don't see any failed banks for year 2010 on FDIC failed bank list. None this year at least.

Thanks for link.

Watching now.

i recommend

youtube links below. but if thoselinks dont work then here is summary:

The first round of Mox video 2 sucked.

Conway was given a chance to rebut what Paul said, but then Paul was not given a chance to respond to Conqay's distortions.

I guess that's how the rules were, but that sure went over badly.

Here is the MoxNews Links

Rand Paul also has scored points against Bill Clinton.Read this.

Rand Paul Knocks Bill Clinton Over Lewinsky Scandal
2 hours ago

Paul wasted no time responding, dismissing Clinton's trip to Kentucky as irrelevant.

"I'm not sure I would trust a guy who had had sexual relations with an intern," Paul said. "I mean, do you think he's an honorable person?"

And he didn't stop there.

"They complain they want all these workplace rules," Paul said. "Do you think there ought to be a law against having, using the prerogatives of your position and your power of your job, to have relations with an intern? I think that's disgusting. It gets to the point where we discount what he says. He showed himself less than honorable in office."

Frank Luntz discussing KY Senate debate with focus group

on Hannity right now.

The panel of voters is siding with Rand! :)

Hope the Blue Dogs in KY watch Fox News!

Frank Lundtz and his 'focus groups'...

no credibility whatsoever, he hand picks the members and makes sure the the point he wants to make is what stands out.

Those who remember his groups during the '08 debates will agree with this. I despise FL for that.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

Of course I recognize that

but I'm still surprised that this establishment tool is using his propaganda techniques to help Rand get elected.

Remember how he tried to use his focus groups to hurt Ron during the debates?

This movement sure has come a long way... :)

Hannity's Fox site says you can 'buy' the episodes? Really?

I guess there's always the late-night re-runs...

Be sure to leave a comment on any articles in the KYPost.

I just signed up and I got on there with the first comment.

Here is what I wrote:

"Jack Conway is a cancerous tumor on the financial health of the United States of America. His arrogance and unfunded promises to every program asked of him will ensure that our country fails to fulfill our fiscal responsibilities to our children and undermine American sovereignty to international bond holders.

Jack 'Flip-Flop' Con-way is a stain on integrity which our country was founded."

Well done. I was just at the site and was commenting to my wife on your great post.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

Expect to see this in Conway's next attack ad:

Rand doesn't say that 'Iran is not a threat' like Conway alleges... he says that 'most of the people who are following the movement' would advocate that position.

Grayson already tried using this argument (and this footage) against him as well. This will only alienate the anti-war left-leaning supporters in Conway's base.

Furthermore, Conway came out as very anti-liberal in this debate. Saying that he doesn't agree with Rand's insinuations that he's a liberal because he believes that Rand himself is a liberal for supporting ideas of state's controlling their own drug policy is not going to sit well with his liberal base.

Called it!

Look at how nobody watches Conway's videos! LOL!

I was expecting this type of attack to run as a TV spot, but I guess Conway opted for the Aqua Buddha approach instead... Haha!

Inconvenient debate style.

I hope that in the next debate, they have a way of letting the candidates know when their time is about to expire.

Both Conway and Paul were abruptly cut off multiple times during this debate. That's not fun for anyone.

That got a little ugly.

Rand was the obvious winner in the first debate.

I call this one a wash.

I would say Rand won over some teachers.

Jack got the seniors.

The bluedogs are going to determine the outcome on this one.

Paul by 12.
