They were just getting donor numbers with fill the quill. They wanted 1776 donors, then they asked for 1/2 mil and then, OMG 1 MILLION DOLLARS!

I can't remember exactly how much the very first "Fill the Quill" goal was for? Was it $100,000?
We LOVED the "Fill the Quill" event and were glued to
our screens in our house. Back then... who would have ever thought over $6 mil in 24 hours???

That was fun... We ran that one through youtube and everywhere else at the time as well just like for these million dollar efforts...
I had given shortly before that as my first, and gave again when that came up.... I remember wanting a counter, like we have now (fill the quill was the first of course)... And someone here (I am afraid that I don't remember who) really argued a strong case with the campaign so they did it...
